Please note: This track may include some explicit language. From dodging the holiday party predator to dodging the feelings you act out on, this meditation is the perfect pre-party patience igniter. Further, this is a centering meditation - great in providing you with the sense of self before you enter environments which may instigate fear or self-resentment.

It's time for the mistletoe meditation for meditation for assholes.

This is a good one to listen to before you go into a party.

So take a seat before you walk out the door,

Or if you're in your car,

Before you get out the door to go into the party or the social gathering.

Take a deep breath in through your nose,

Holding it at the top and exhale.

Another deep breath in through your nose,

Filling up your entire body and on the exhale,

Release any tension in your muscles throughout your body.

Continue practicing that for a few moments,

Inhaling really deep and holding it and exhaling and letting go of tension,

Of anxiety,

Fears,

And very important,

Of self-judgment.

With your eyes closed,

Seated,

Your posture is up.

Your back is straight but not stiff.

You're not clenching anything or holding on too tightly to any physical part of your body.

If you are,

Don't judge it.

Just send the breath there.

With your palms open,

Gently rest your hands or one hand on your stomach.

Each inhale,

You'll feel your hand and stomach rise and on the exhale,

Sink.

Send the breath down to that area of your body where your hand is touching your stomach.

And exhale,

Let go of any emotions that may be residing in that part of your body,

Any self-judgment or fear,

Regret about something you said,

Shame about what you do or don't make for an income,

Embarrassment about the car you drive or the people you pissed off.

Just allowing your breath to go down to that area where your hand touches your stomach and on the exhale,

Letting go of any of those emotions,

Almost as if your exhale gently ushers them out of yourself.

Surround your body.

Imagine that you're now surrounded by bright,

Warm light.

Maybe it's the light from a fireplace or the sparkle of a tree or candles lit.

But a bright,

Warm orange light surrounds you.

Just inhale that light and send it down to your stomach and exhale.

Exhaling the light,

Sending it down and exhaling,

Releasing some of that light so that you're a channel,

So that it's almost as if the light is coming through you and out from you.

And the warmth of that light,

The fire,

The brightness,

And then you get to usher that brightness right back out,

Connecting to that light that's coming right back in.

As that light grows larger and brighter and warmer,

Imagine that it's holding all of those true positive things about you,

That you're a happy person,

That you're a good person,

That you're enough.

So that when you inhale that bright light,

You're breathing in,

Being enough.

And on your exhale,

You're sending enough out,

Connecting to a now larger,

Brighter,

Warmer light.

With each inhale,

You're breathing in more of that light,

More of that positive energy,

And more of that sense of self,

Positive sense of self.

And on the exhale,

You get to let go of any comparisons to others,

To where you should be.

You're breathing in now the biggest amount of self-love.

It's like this fire is coming up from around you,

Behind you,

Beneath you,

Surrounding you,

Filling you up,

That area of your stomach where your hand rests.

And on the exhale,

You get to give off that same amount of love.

It's an assurance that you carry yourself with love for yourself.

You're still connecting with your breath,

To that light,

To that energy,

Receiving and giving off.

And with the next inhale,

Imagine taking that bright light,

Inhaling it really big,

Sending it down to your stomach,

And on the exhale,

That light grows a little bit smaller because it's staying within you.

That light grows,

The light around you decreases only because now it's within you.

Inhaling again,

Taking in more of that light around you,

Starts to come back within,

Centered down in the area where your hand rests on your stomach,

And on the exhale,

Coming back into our physical state.

We're going to inhale the last of that bright light,

Sending it right down into that area where our hand meets our stomach.

Begin to move your shoulders and come back into this area of our physical state.

Now through all the parts of your body,

Contracting and expanding your muscles,

Exhaling,

And you're ready to gently open your eyes.

Be mindful that you can access that bright energy anytime just by placing your hand on your stomach.

Imagine accessing that bright energy of being enough,

Of being exactly as you are supposed to be.

You can also share that energy with people,

Engage with them,

Ask questions,

Listen.

This genuine appreciation of self will help you to have a little bit more courage when you walk into a situation which is causing you anxiety,

Like those parties,

And it will also help you to put up some boundaries with people that might be causing you concern.

Because you love yourself,

Because you express this through this meditation,

You get to share that love with others who are deserving,

And you get to protect that bright light,

That bright energy,

That you,

From those who are not.

Happy Holidays.
