Dearest man,

Take rest here.

Slide the heavy pack from your shoulders and take a seat by the fire.

This is a sacred fire.

It has been burning since the beginning of mankind.

This serves as a refuge for men to gather around,

To bring yourself with whatever you have going on in your life.

There is no judgment here.

No matter how exhausted,

How heartbroken,

Shameful,

Hurt or lost you feel,

There is a seat for you.

Nothing is too much,

Brother.

Allow this session to serve as a check-in for self.

Invite high levels of awareness to yourself at this moment.

To cut through any fabricated defensive shields of armor and be real with yourself here.

Sensing your whole body from top to toe,

You may build an image in your mind about your position around the fire,

The seat that you're in,

Your posture,

Your breath.

See if you can deepen your breath for the next few cycles.

Breathing in through the nose to fill up the belly,

Right down from the bottom up to the top and allow a handsome sized breath to be expelled from the mouth.

Again,

In through the nose,

Into the base of the belly,

Sending it up through the chest and out through the mouth.

And once more,

In through the nose,

Into the base of the belly and release through the open mouth.

The breath unravels wisdom tightly bound within the body.

The following questions are designed to give an overall assessment of your current state.

Allow the information in the body to become easily accessible.

Loosening inner shackles and dismantling the guard to your body's honesty.

Knowing that awareness is the first step to healing.

Rising above adversity.

Let the warm glow of the fire hold you in this.

Firstly,

How are you feeling physically?

Legs,

Hips,

Neck,

Hands,

Joints,

Skin,

Organs,

Immune system.

How are you feeling physically today?

How are you feeling intellectually?

Brain,

Memory,

Thoughts,

Intentionality.

How are you feeling intellectually today?

How are you feeling when it comes to your purpose,

Fulfillment,

Life satisfaction and your resolve upon the central motivating aims of your life?

How purposeful are you feeling today?

How are you feeling emotionally?

Capable or at capacity?

Shaky,

Untethered,

Strong,

Solid,

Responsive,

Reactive,

Disassociated or indifferent.

How are you feeling emotionally today?

How are you feeling spiritually?

Connectedness to something greater than self.

Peace,

Contentment,

Gratitude and acceptance.

How are you feeling spiritually today?

Thank you brother for your courage and heart to explore your inner world today.

Stay here at the fire for as long as you need.

Allow yourself to go forth and integrate these answers without reactiveness.

Instead responding to a current state with compassion and care.

This overall check-in with self is called the PIPES check-in.

P-I-P-E-S.

PIPES is an acronym for physically,

Intellectually,

Purposefully,

Emotionally and spiritually.

Come and sit by this fire whenever you need an honest check-in.

The fire will remain burning strong for infinity to come.

Journey well.

Although this meditation is meant for men I think it's my new favorite for mindfulness.
