Rumi once said,
Life is a balance between holding on and letting go.
Letting go can feel really good or it can feel uncomfortable and difficult.
And you can let go of aspects of your life and you can let go into life and allow it to be just as it is without resistance.
So begin to explore and embody this idea of holding and letting go as you take an in-breath.
And hold that breath for a second and then let that breath go.
And breathe again and hold for a second and then let that breath go.
Be aware of how it feels to hold and how it feels to let go.
How does it feel to fill your lungs and experience that holding?
And then experience letting go.
As you inhale that holding nourishes you at first but then naturally it's time to let go.
And you may find that letting go feels good and maybe you can relax into the feeling of letting go as you exhale.
So just continue to breathe.
Just receive the breath and then release.
And let go.
Let go of the day.
For now let go of your story.
And let go into the stillness that is always here.
You're already whole just as you are right now.
Let go into that wholeness.
Just for this moment let go of the past and regrets about the past or feeling the past was better.
Let go of controlling the future or hoping the future will be better.
Let go and just rest in awareness right now.
And come into presence even more deeply now by putting your attention on your physicality.
Explore how it feels to tense your whole body and then to let go.
And to your neck and your shoulders.
Feel that tension and then let go as you exhale.
Be aware of your body now.
And notice whether there is any tension or tightness.
Hold your awareness on that tension and now let it go as you exhale.
Move your awareness around your body,
Aware of holding and letting that tension go.
Be aware of any areas where you are tense and holding.
And just releasing and letting that tension go.
And let go now into the surface that you're resting on.
Allowing more ease.
That's it.
And gently breathing into your heart now.
So you can just give yourself what you need by letting go.
And as you continue to rest here without going into thought,
Just allow these ideas to float through your awareness.
So exploring the idea of letting go of things is about not grasping,
Not insisting on how things should be.
Just allow yourself to be aware of what you hold onto.
What are you insisting on?
Where are you controlling your life?
Your attitudes and beliefs?
Your shoulds and shouldn'ts?
Can you let go of those things that you insist on?
Can you let go of outcomes and allow life to surprise you?
Are you holding on to particular dreams,
Ambitions,
Hopes?
Friendships and relationships?
There may be people that you hold onto.
Such a job or possessions.
Just ask yourself,
Is that holding causing you to suffer in any way?
And just explore and feel into the idea of letting that particular thing go.
Maybe be aware of the pain or sensations around holding on.
And of the sensations in your body around letting that go.
Just breathe into those places.
Allow them to be heard and held by you.
And be aware that as soon as you let go of something,
You can want it back.
Because you're left with a space where that person or that thing used to be.
So part of letting go is about learning to be with that gap.
Can you let go of something?
Just allow the space it leaves in your life.
Even if it's uncomfortable for a while.
Can you nurture yourself through that until the letting go is processed?
And now explore the idea of letting go into something.
It's not always possible to let go of things.
You may have obligations or parts of your life you're unable to change.
So just letting life be as it is.
And as you do that,
It's very powerful and healing.
So breathe again and let go into this moment just as it is.
Fresh,
Alive,
Here and now.
There's a richness and a depth into letting go deeply into a situation just as it is.
There is growth and insight.
And letting go into life as it is and being with it can be more transformative than trying to get somewhere else.
So become aware of those areas of your life that you really can't change.
Maybe aspects of yourself or holding space for others,
Holding responsibility,
Maybe areas of pain in your life and just letting go of the idea that anything needs to be any different.
So just relax into the stability of allowing things to be as they are as you exhale.
But maybe noticing what you need within that.
Having real compassion for yourself as you let go into life.
Just breathe,
Letting go of the need for change.
Letting go into this moment just as it is.
Letting go into this moment just as you are.
And that very simple change in energy and in your attitudes can ease suffering and it invites new possibility to emerge in ways that you don't expect.
So just be aware that there's an important difference between giving up and letting go.
Letting go brings in a new energy,
A new you,
A fresh perspective,
A fresh message.
And perhaps you can let go and live in the present moment.
Live in a more dynamic energy.
Let go into the flow of life and know that this moment is perfect.
Let go and allow life to guide you,
Teach you and surprise you.
So in the coming day or week just allow these ideas to be in your awareness.
Be curious about the insights that come to you.
And you may like to rest here and contemplate these ideas further.
You'll begin to become aware of the room around you.
You'll move your body.
And when you are ready you can open your eyes.
Thank you.
