Thank you for being here today.
This is a 10 minute meditation that will give you space and encouragement while you enter into the spontaneity of the present moment through presence and being.
This practice will help you witness the play of life within you and around you and that we're all part of.
And by meeting yourself in this way,
You'll find that you are nourished from that deeper place of life within yourself.
So just allowing yourself to get comfortable,
Sitting in the way that's right for you.
Allowing yourself to sit up tall but not pushing yourself,
Just letting life lift you.
Hands on your knees or in your lap.
Eyes closed or gently open.
Face soft.
Aware of your feet on the floor,
Your weight on the seat,
Your spine rising up.
Letting your shoulders relax,
Letting your face relax.
Letting your shoulders relax,
Letting your face relax.
And just becoming aware of your breath.
And as you do this,
I'd like you to imagine that as you breathe in,
Your breath goes up your back,
Shoulders,
Neck,
Head.
And then as you breathe out,
Comes down the front,
Face,
Throat,
Chest,
Abdomen.
Going under,
Up the back,
Over and down the front and under.
Up the back,
Down the front.
Down the front.
And just taking a few more breaths like this.
And then simply coming back to your natural breath,
Your abdomen.
And beginning to rest into yourself.
Becoming aware of how your mind is.
Becoming aware of your feelings and emotions.
Becoming aware of your body.
Noticing if you have any judgement or criticism or self-talk about the contents of your mind,
Your thought patterns,
Of your feelings,
Of how you think life should be.
And just noticing the energy of this.
Not trying to stop it or change it,
But just notice the energy of it.
And it's this noticing,
This coming into awareness that begins to move us out of being caught in future and past and drama and story.
And allows us to begin resting into being.
Accessing the deeper wisdom of life within us.
So that difficulties can be met.
Situations transformed.
That there can be greater love and compassion and clarity.
And so that we become of service to ourselves and others.
Simply letting go now of our attachments and detachments by resting into being.
Our attachment to our self-image.
Even the image of our self sitting here in meditation.
Our relationships.
Our work situations.
Finances.
Stories.
Commentaries.
The hurts we've had.
Just taking a break for these 10 minutes by resting into being.
Which doesn't mean that they don't exist.
It means that we're honoring ourselves enough to take a rest.
To meet our life with wholeness.
The sense of silence within your being and the sense of what is.
Rather than trying to change our minds.
Rather than trying to change our emotions.
We deepen into being and awareness.
So that we notice what is arising within us as forms.
As mental forms.
Because we are in the process of being.
As forms.
Becoming emotions.
Arising and passing away.
Some things sticking.
How we attach to them.
How we detach.
Awareness of change that appears to be outside of ourselves in the world.
And noticing what it is in us.
What it is in yourself.
That comes before all that.
Noticing at the level of being.
Not trying to figure anything out.
Just seeing life.
The arising and the movement and the play of consciousness and forms.
At the level of being.
And noticing how this feels for you.
Perhaps you can sense your natural sense of love and compassion.
As things move and change.
Perhaps you're more still.
The silence,
The being.
The enjoyment of what is.
Knowing that you are sitting here in meditation.
Feeling of your body.
Feeling of your life within.
Feeling of your mind,
Your feelings.
Your breath.
And the clarity of being and awareness.
Unfolding at this very moment and in all moments through your life.
You can hear the sound in the room.
You're aware of the light in the room.
Or of your clothes against your skin.
So as we begin to draw this meditation to a close.
I want to say thank you for your practice today.
In Zen they have a saying.
Before enlightenment,
Chopping wood,
Carrying water.
After enlightenment,
Chopping wood,
Carrying water.
May you always know when you are chopping your wood and when you are carrying your water.
From that deeper sense of awareness and spontaneity and being within yourself.
Thank you for practicing with me.
Have a beautiful day.
