Sometimes when I begin to meditate,

I find myself completely overwhelmed by negative thoughts and emotions,

And I cannot concentrate at all.

At these times,

When I switch to repetitive actions such as exercising or house chores,

I find I am able to refocus my attention away from my negative thoughts and emotions.

When I meditate,

I find myself completely overwhelmed by negative thoughts and emotions,

And I cannot concentrate at all.

At these times,

When I switch to repetitive actions such as exercising or house chores,

I find I am able to refocus my attention away from my negative thoughts and emotions.

Can you say that meditation is a different way of doing simple repetitive activities such as exercising or house chores?

Or is it a way to help me meditate?

Or is it simply a way to divert my attention elsewhere?

So I think you are just simply distracting yourself.

So it's normal when you are in such a still state for a lot of distracting thoughts to come up in your mind.

So it's normal when you are in such a still state for a lot of distracting thoughts to come to your head.

So if you are engaged in everyday activity with your eyes wide open and you are fully engaged,

It's like almost watching a live TV show.

But if you are sitting still and your eyes are closed and you are sitting in a quiet place and you are seeing these thoughts,

It's almost like watching a rerun,

A video.

But if the live broadcast is loud enough and lively enough,

Then your recognition of the video that's running in the background tends to recede.

But once you turn off the live broadcast,

Then you are able to see what's been running in the background.

So what I'm saying is it's very normal for a lot of distracting thoughts to come to you when you are sitting still.

The fact that you are experiencing a lot of negative emotions,

That means that you just have a lot of trauma or some negative negativity that's built up.

But if the negativity,

The negative emotions are overwhelming you and it's triggering unbearable pain,

Then you have to open your eyes and stop.

It's almost you are in the middle of a nightmare.

However,

If you are able to overcome that by focusing on the breath singularly,

Then it is up to you to persist.

So instead of burying your trauma deep inside,

If you are able to bring them out and surface them without being overwhelmed by them,

Then that is the process of healing.

So my recommendation to you is that challenge yourself to heal.

And if you can't do it or you are overcome by negative emotions,

Open your eyes and pause and then retry.
