Heal & Release Anxiety & Fear Breathwork
by Kara Payton
Many of us live most of our days in a sympathetic state of arousal, leaving our nervous system in a flight or flight state with emotions stuck in the body. Use this breathwork practice to move into a calm state of ease and regulate your nervous system back into a healthy place.

Hello there and welcome.
We're going to be focusing on a very basic form of breath work,
Something that is going to help regulate your nervous system and heal anxiety.
Oftentimes,
We experience something that is unpleasant or worrisome or gets us activated in a type of fear and we don't often move through it in the way that is conducive for creating again a returned state of homeostasis or back to norm where your nervous system is now not working.
You are just in a place of peace.
We often either store negative emotions or we don't really allow ourselves to kind of process what we were thinking or feeling in the moment and things just stay as is.
We go through a fearful or worrisome event or a traumatic event or circumstance and our nervous system stays activated into a fight or flight and our brain just stays in that mode.
And then so we go and try to you know convene with our daily activities or go about life as usual and we don't often understand or really grasp why we're feeling so anxious,
Why we feel so charged or irritable.
And it's simply because we didn't tell our our bodies,
Our brain and our body did not communicate that we are no longer in that event or circumstance.
And so let's move through a practice if you're feeling anxiety,
If you're feeling fear,
Chances are that is due to just not ever taking that time for yourself to signal to your body that you're okay.
So let's do that now.
So the beautiful part about when you take an intention and you are participating in this mind body connection,
You are able to send so much more powerful signals and participate in such a higher level than we really ever allow ourselves.
You know we stay typically we stay in our mind,
We stay in our thoughts and we think that somehow using our brain is going to manifest all of our solutions.
That we're going to be able to logically move through anything that comes our way in life,
Not realizing that our mind as beautiful as it is of a tool,
It is only 20% of the picture.
We're only doing if if if that 20% as a as a max,
Our body on a somatic level,
The feeling emotional body that we have is so much more intelligent,
So much more intuitive,
And so much more of the picture closer to 80% of what we are experiencing in life can be registered in our bodies and this infinite intelligence system.
And because we have disconnected our mind from our body,
This infinite intelligence leaves us where we are searching for answers outside of ourselves or trying to think through solutions that are quite organically accessed by just tapping into an infinite effortless intelligence that is your body.
So once we get into this practice of regulating the nervous system and healing through this anxious feeling or this activation where you're in fight or flight,
You're operating from the amygdala,
The survival part of your mind,
We can then develop more of a healthy practice about consulting with our body.
If we have been disconnected for quite some time,
It can feel like over time we just lose sense of an inner knowing.
We don't know how to really live our lives.
We're searching for answers,
We're in an abundance of information,
But we're starving for direction and purpose.
This practice is the very first of many to help you guide back into a state where you know that you know that you know because you are a whole,
Connected,
And aligned being and answers come from you as questions are presented to you.
So find yourself in an ability to be distraction-free.
If you need to turn do not disturb on your phone,
If you need to close the door,
If you need to find a position or a place in the room where you can be without stimulation or interruption.
And then find yourself in a position that is going to allow yourself to have very little bodily signals that is going to throw you off something like discomfort or seating in a position that you're not used to and having your posture signal to you,
Hey this is uncomfortable.
Just find yourself,
Whether you're sitting or lying or standing,
In a position that is just going to let you be present without any distraction.
The first set of breaths we're going to do,
We are actually going to intentionally move into the sympathetic nervous system.
We're going to actively move into a state of activation and then afterwards we're going to move into our parasympathetic where we're going to move back down and we're going to regulate our nervous system by calming it down.
So in through the mouth,
Out through the mouth,
It doesn't matter the pace that you're moving through.
What matters is that you are pulling it as deeply into your body as you can,
Into your belly.
We're trying to move the breath as far into the emotional body as we possibly can.
Let's begin.
Keep moving through your breath.
Try to keep the same pace and remember to keep deep,
Moving it all the way and pulling it into your belly,
Into your gut before fully releasing.
You may notice to start you already find emotions stirring within you,
Maybe fears,
Anxieties,
A note of panic,
Anything that's trying to trigger you into stopping.
Understand that you are still safe in your body.
You are still safe in your room.
Depress as far as you can.
If you find yourself needing to skip a breath,
Invite yourself to pause and withdraw into a moment of pause and jump in back when you can.
As you move through,
Remind yourself that you are safe,
That emotions are safe to feel.
They are safe to move through.
They are safe to pass through.
You are completely safe.
It may feel so otherworldly to you,
But it's okay.
It may feel so otherwise and that's okay.
That is your nervous system doing its job.
Everything is trying to protect you.
It's trying to keep you safe.
It's trying to send you signals and you are in charge.
You are safe here.
Move through.
You're almost there.
You are home.
You are in your body and you are home.
Everything you feel can move now.
It can move through you.
Feelings are safe to experience,
But they are not meant to be stuck there.
Allow them to pass,
Celebrate their passing,
Move it through.
You are almost there.
As you move through,
If you notice that your body needs to move,
It needs to jostle,
It needs to wiggle,
Allow that to happen.
Allow that space to shudder,
To shake.
If you need to express in voice,
In words,
In tone,
In motion,
In movement,
In sound,
Release it.
If you need to pause and take a moment before diving back in,
Do so as you feel.
If you find yourself rocking,
If you find yourself pacing,
If you're finding yourself wanting to move back and forth and letting your body just freely unravel,
Let out the sound that you need to let out.
Move it through,
Move it past,
Let it pass.
Almost done now.
Excellent job.
Great job.
Such a great job.
Bring yourself now to a state of calm.
Breathe in,
Return to a normal and return to a normal pace.
Allow the tingling sensations and the buzzing sensations to allow you to signal that you have moved through something great.
You have done something so profoundly healing for your body.
Acknowledge this,
Celebrate this,
This movement that you led yourself through,
Healing that you allowed yourself to experience.
We're going to move on to a top hold breath where you breathe in all the way,
Filling your lungs with air and holding at the top.
Allow this to happen through your nose or your mouth,
Whichever you prefer.
And holding.
You have just drawn in excess oxygen into your body.
You can hold this longer than you think.
And when you find yourself naturally wanting to release the breath,
Do so as you feel.
Allow yourself to find a state of peace as it comes to you naturally.
You will find a place of peace and wrap you,
Come to you or completely organically without asking.
As you've let go of that breath,
Draw another one into a top hold.
You are completely full of oxygen.
You are safe.
If you are rocking back and forth,
If you are allowing movement into your body,
Allow it to find a slow pace of assurance sent for yourself by yourself.
And as you exhale and release the breath,
Allow yourself to move it with sound out through and sigh it out.
And return to a state of peace,
To a slow rocking.
Maybe your legs are shaking.
Something is moving through you all the way.
Allow it to process.
Your body has an infinite intelligence that we cannot even perceive to touch the surface of in our mind.
Allow it to do what it's doing.
And now we're going to move into a bottom hold where we draw a breath in deeply and then we express it in an exhale all the way out through your mouth or your nose.
Allow yourself to completely come empty.
You are still safe.
You are home in your body.
The only place we are truly home.
The only place we are truly safe.
Whenever your body signals you to take another breath in,
Allow it to guide you.
Align yourself with infinite intelligence that exists within you at all times.
You have access to this every moment.
When your body signals you to take another breath in,
Breathe in.
You have taken charge into actively activating your nervous system and then moving all the way through to regulating yourself back to peace,
Back to a state of alignment.
You've done this on your own.
You have relied on nothing on the outside of you to achieve this healing.
This was facilitated by you,
Through you,
For you.
Whenever you're ready,
You can return to a normal pace of breathing and allow yourself to fold inward or wrap your arms around yourself in celebration of being back home and feeling at peace again in the alignment that is your organic place of being.
When you are ready,
You can open your eyes.

Amazing release and stillness I received. Woke up in the middle of the night, full of anxiety and I decided to journal it out for an hour and got really clear ... this breathwork meditation was exactly what I needed post-journaling for my body, mind and inner-peace. Thank you so much ๐๐พโโ๏ธ
