Body Image Acceptance & Awareness With Affirmations
by Kate Noel
Body Image Acceptance with Affirmations Meditation - This is a simple body image acceptance meditation to help you embody and relax into the journey of healing your body image. There are included affirmations, I thank you and hope you enjoy!
Transcript
This guided meditation is to help you relax into your body and to plant the seeds for radical body acceptance and to embody more into your soul vessel that is your body,
That is the human body.
So find a comfortable position,
Ideally sitting down as still as you can be,
Trying to find a balanced position.
Close your eyes and start to feel your body.
Feel your legs and thighs,
Relax your legs and hips,
Feel them sinking into the earth below you.
Feel your body supporting you now,
Feeling gravity in the earth supporting your body.
Now notice your belly,
Relax it down and let go of expectations.
Let your belly just be however it wants to be,
Laying exactly where it wants to be and it really is exactly where it's meant to be.
Now relax your shoulders,
Let them take a break,
Feel the way they feel,
Let them sink down from your neck.
Now relax your jaw and your face,
Allow your beautiful face to feel at ease and gentle.
Feel your whole body now,
Your toes,
Hips,
Your belly,
Fingertips,
Chest,
Your face,
Relaxing them down and noticing how you feel,
Noticing if there are any areas of your body with sensation.
Don't judge those sensations,
Just simply become aware of them.
Let's breathe into the sensations of our bodies,
Whether it's pain,
Discomfort,
Or simply the temperature of the air.
Breathe into the sensations of the body.
The body is always giving us messages,
But often the only thing that we really need to do is just take a moment to be still,
Listen and breathe into the body.
So let's take a deep inhale through the nose,
Breathing into the sensations and exhaling through the mouth,
Letting it go.
Again,
Breathing in through the nose and a deep exhale through the mouth,
Letting the judgment and expectations go.
One more time,
Breathing in to the sensation and a deep exhale through the mouth,
Letting go of the judgment and the expectations.
Now consider body image and what that means for you.
Do you feel emotions?
Do you visualize anything when you think of body image?
Do you see yourself?
Do you see the fat on your body?
Do you see the type of body that you desire?
Do you see struggle or pain?
What does body image mean to you in this moment?
Maybe you feel neutral,
Maybe you feel happy,
Maybe you feel disconnected or afraid.
Whatever it is,
Acknowledge it and thank it.
It has guided you and is here to serve you.
Your body image will heal over time into acceptance and self-love.
Taking a deep breath in,
Filling up the body,
And a deep exhale through the mouth,
Letting it go.
Now imagine what your life would be like and look like if you felt neutral or even positive about your body.
Visualize yourself eating every meal with a smile on your face and with gratitude.
Imagine yourself waking up in the morning and appreciating the curves on your body or appreciating the lack of curves,
If that's the shape of your body.
Imagine wearing clothes that you love and feel truly comfortable in.
Imagine feeling vibrant and confident,
Loving your unique self and feeling a sense of belonging in your sacred body.
Let's breathe in love and acceptance into our bodies without needing to change them.
Imagine the light of self-love pumping through your body and mind instead of the darkness of body hatred.
Imagine all the potential of your life,
All the wonderful things you were made to do on this earth with the body you inhabit now.
Again,
Feeling your body now,
Checking in with yourself.
Where do you feel sensation?
Taking a deep breath in,
Breathing in the light,
Exhaling out the judgment.
If we don't find a path,
A way to embody in this moment in the body that we have now,
We won't sustainably love our bodies in the future when or if they have changed to our desire.
If you have a desire to change your body,
You must learn to love your body now,
Or at least accept it for what it is and embody into it.
So let's take a deep breath through the nose and imagine in breathing a pure white light of acceptance and love,
Breathing it into your entire body,
Especially the areas where you feel sensitive,
You feel judgment.
And on your out-breath,
Breathe out the fear and self-judgment.
Again,
Breathing in the white light,
Feeling it permeate every cell of your body,
Every part of your mind and your body that needs it.
It could be your entire body.
Sensing that warm,
Bright white light inside,
Circulating through your body,
Releasing with the out-breath the judgment and self-hatred.
Continue to do this for a few moments now on your own in your own time.
Your body is whole.
Yes,
You have body parts that have unique functions.
But the reality is that your body only works with each and every single part working together.
Your cells are constantly growing and then dying,
Replenishing every single day.
Your organ systems all working intricately together,
Sending messages from your cells to your brain,
Your brain creating messages and hormones and sending those to your cells,
Your beating heart and your oxygen-filled lungs giving you the life force energy to move your body,
To eat your food,
Have a fine night out with your friends,
Go for a nature walk.
Your body does so much for you every single second of every single day.
So take a moment to thank your body for carrying you for its countless functions every single second that are life-affirming,
Keeping you alive in this moment exactly as you should be.
Your life is worth so much more than having an ideal,
Perfect body.
Again,
Breathe in the white light of gratitude for your body now.
Allow it to fill up your entire body,
Circulating through your legs,
Belly,
Arms,
And head.
I invite you to listen to some of these affirmations I'm going to say out loud,
Allowing them to sink in.
And you can repeat them if you'd like after I say them to yourselves or out loud if it feels right.
I am at home in my body.
My body deserves respect.
I am not perfect.
No one is.
My self-worth is not determined by my body.
I can trust my body image acceptance journey and will continue to learn from my body.
Allow these affirmations to metabolize in your mind,
Relaxing into the journey.
You are OK.
You are complete.
You are aware.
Now,
Placing your right hand over your heart and your left hand over your belly,
If that feels comfortable,
Feel your body in this moment.
Feel your heart beating.
Feel your lungs expanding and falling.
Feel the gurgles in your belly if they're happening.
Your body is working for you.
It's your unique value.
It has endless potential.
It has infinite purpose.
It is sacred and special and whole.
Choose yourself in this life that you have been given.
You cannot be somebody that you're not.
Slowly start to open your eyes.
Become aware of the room or the place you're in.
Gently move your fingers and your toes,
Getting the feeling of being in a place where you can feel the presence of your body.
Gently move your fingers and your toes,
Getting movement back into your limbs and extremities.
You can take a good morning stretch if it feels good and observe how that feels in your body.
Thank you so much for meditating with me.
And until next time.

Battling with body perfection imaginings for most of my life I can only reflect on the monster machines that drove me to develop inner ageism on top of expected body perfectionism. Hitting my middle and now 68th year walking this beautiful earth the sense of losing my battle roaring inside me. If I don't squash this beast it will take the peace I deserve now. Thank you for sharing your love in this meditation. It's one I will do often.
