Come into a position where you feel both comfortable and alert.
You could be lying down in a reclined position,
Perhaps you're sitting upright,
Or maybe you even have your legs up the wall in an inversion.
Tune into your body and see if you can tell what it needs today.
As you settle in,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze,
Beginning to take this journey inward.
Start with taking a few deep,
Slow breaths.
In through the nose and out through the nose.
When your breathing is slow and steady,
Your diaphragm tells your brain that everything is under control,
You are calm and safe,
And there is nothing to worry about.
Can you feel your body relax a little more with each exhale?
Begin to notice where you feel the movement of the breath the most.
It could be in your stomach,
Your chest,
Or maybe even the tip of your nose.
Try to focus completely on how the breath feels in your body.
To help slow down the thoughts,
Think to yourself,
Inhale as you breathe in,
And exhale as you breathe out.
If you'd like to add a count,
You can do so after every exhale.
You would sound like inhale,
Exhale,
One.
Inhale,
Exhale,
Two.
All the way up to a count of eight,
Then back down to one.
Now that you're settled in,
You can release the counting of the breaths and just sit with the inhale and the exhale.
Let's go deeper by considering the tarot card,
The five of cups.
The five of cups typically shows a man in a long black cloak,
Looking down on three cups that have been knocked over.
That is symbolic of disappointment and failure.
Behind him are two upright cups,
Representing new opportunities and potential,
But because he is so focused on the overturned cups,
He misses the opportunities available to him.
In the background,
A bridge crosses a large flowing river and leads into the security of the home on the opposite side of the river.
If only he could move on from the overturned cups.
That bridge is a message to build a bridge and get over it.
Turn your focus inward and ask yourself,
How can I let go of any lingering disappointment?
Sit with this question without trying to analyze or think,
Just allowing answers to come up from deep within.
How can I let go of any lingering disappointment?
As you practice tuning into your intuition,
You may notice that you don't always hear words.
Maybe you received images,
Impressions,
Or maybe you had seemingly random thoughts or memories.
You may not have gotten anything.
Something could come up later.
Take a few breaths to process your experience.
Listen to the following affirmation,
Repeating it to yourself.
I let go of what no longer serves me to make space for new beginnings.
I let go of what no longer serves me to make space for new beginnings.
As we reach the end of today's practice,
Bring your palms together at heart center,
Slightly bowing.
Take a moment to reflect on your experience.
Were you able to connect with your inner wisdom?
Did you practice listening and being?
Allowing this experience and any insights that you've gained to stay with you.
Bring your awareness back to your physical surroundings.
Take your time and when you're ready,
Open your eyes and allow your body any movements that it needs.
