This guided meditation is designed to bring awareness to the prevalence of the sympathetic nervous system's "fight or flight" response that can result in an unnecessary chronic underlying feeling of threat or danger in daily life and with that knowledge, shift to cultivating familiarity and deeper relationship with feelings of safety to allow one to walk with more serenity, clarity, and groundedness.

Living in a world where our sympathetic nervous system is often activated towards the fight or flight response,

We can begin to feel a sense of anxiety and danger just by engaging in simple tasks.

Experiences like reading the news,

Interacting with social media,

Having financial worries,

Chronic pain,

Work pressure,

Or even unresolved emotions can have an impact on our day-to-day lives,

Where a perceived threat underlies our journey.

While having the nervous system fight or flight response is essential to human survival and should not be villainized,

Being in a heightened state of physiological stress at a chronic level when it is unnecessary can have harmful effects on one's well-being.

This meditation is designed as a reminder that you are safe,

Bringing awareness to your internal responses,

Allowing yourself to question whether a perceived threat is valid,

And intentionally putting practices of serenity and trust in place can cultivate that feeling of safety,

Allowing you to have a more regulated nervous system and to move with a stronger sense of wholeness,

Well-being,

And clarity.

This is a very small portion of your day,

Let's devote this time to being fully present to it by eliminating any distractions and finding a quiet place.

Our goal right now is to settle into a space of calm and become very familiar with what safety feels like.

Let's begin.

When you're ready,

Find a comfortable repose.

You can sit or lie down,

Whatever feels most calming and satisfying to you.

Closing your eyes,

Bring your attention to your breath.

Let's take a few deep breaths in together,

Allowing the body to relax.

Taking a breath deep into the belly and releasing with a longer exhale through pursed lips,

Gently noticing the sensation of these long,

Relaxing breaths moving in and out of the body.

Now,

As you inhale,

Imagine that you are breathing peace and calm into the center of your being.

As you exhale,

Gently soften in any areas that are holding tension or stress,

Allowing yourself to move moment by moment into deeper relaxation.

Breathing peace and calm into the center of your being and gently softening any areas holding tension or stress on the exhale,

Yielding gently to a sense of deeper relaxation.

Let's visualize a warm,

Golden,

Nurturing light that surrounds and lovingly holds you.

You can fill this light with the support of your higher power or the god or goddess of your understanding,

Or you can just enjoy it as a beautiful light that envelops you with love,

Care,

And protection.

Take a moment here to enjoy the feeling of tenderness,

Safety,

And care that surrounds you here.

Here,

You are safe.

Here,

In this space.

Let's affirm a few things,

Feeling,

Into the knowing,

Deep knowing of each one of these affirmations.

I am safe and protected.

I am free to trust that things are working out for my highest good.

I am fully capable and empowered to handle any challenges that come my way.

I am deserving of love,

Love,

Restoration,

And care.

I am worthy of experiencing the beauty and good things that life has to offer.

In all of these experiences,

I am free to inhabit a sense of clarifying safety,

Focusing on your heart center,

Leaning into a softening and opening there.

Allow all of the calm,

Clarity,

Relief,

And nurturing that you need from the light that surrounds you into your heart space now,

Moving into a state of expansion,

Of peace,

And comfort.

Allow this light to continue to flow throughout your entire field,

Integrating that divine love and support into the tapestry of your being.

You are resonant with safety.

You are a safe being.

There is security and peace in every cell.

Turning the mind's eye now to a feeling of safety at this moment.

All is calm here.

All is well here.

You are safe.

Coming into this knowing,

Anchoring it into your being.

What does a sense of safety feel like?

Can you make a deep connection with this feeling and allow this sensation to become an ally to you,

Knowing that being within you,

You have access to it at any time.

Sustaining this resonance of safety,

Allowing yourself to get very familiar with taking a few deep breaths here,

Let's move into a deeper release of any doubts,

Fears,

Or worries.

Where else can you soften in your body,

Allowing a sense of trust to anchor in a little more deeply,

Gently,

Observing without judgment.

Where in your mind,

Body,

Or soul have you possibly been hesitant to allow in a feeling of trust and safety?

Do you find yourself willing now to allow in the light,

The seed of miracle?

Even here,

You can find healing.

Taking a moment to simply breathe into a softening and sense of possibility.

Even here,

You can find healing.

Let's make a shift now.

Let's go ahead and lean into gratitude for all of the good things.

There's so much to focus on here in this space of gratitude.

The ability of the divine to meet you right where you're at.

Gratitude for your willingness to take time for yourself.

Gratitude that whatever you consider sacred has given you its support as you have done this work today.

Meeting the healing within you with deep,

Deep gratitude.

Meeting yourself with gratitude as this is only work that you can do for you.

Whenever you're ready,

Go ahead and open your eyes.

Take a few deep cleansing breaths,

Noticing the beauty of what is calm and peaceful in your environment.

Bring that sense of safety into the world around you.

Bringing an awareness of safety into the room,

Into the physical world.

Now that you can embody this clarifying sense of safety whenever you need,

The more you become familiar with it and with the tools to calm a dysregulated nervous system,

The more you will be able to walk sure-footed through the world with a sense of safety at the appropriate times.

If you find that in doing this meditation you feel a sense of resistance anywhere,

To allowing a sense of safety to come into full embodiment in areas that should make sense,

Gently observe without judgment the how and why this might be coming up for you.

What stories come forward to try to convince you that you're not safe,

Perhaps taking some time to journal on what comes forward could be helpful to bring awareness to their validity.

Perhaps a gentle acknowledgement that that narrative no longer serves and a new story around your sense of safety can come forward.

You might consider what it might feel like to inhabit that new story.

Feel free to do this meditation as often as needed to calm and ground into the knowing that all is well.
