Welcome to your mind.
The mind is the main tool we use for all that we do.
We are constantly caught up in the mind's activities,
So we can't see the mind as it is.
We need to take time to discover what the mind really is,
To understand it.
What is the nature of the mind?
What is the function of the mind?
How to use it properly?
By just observing your thoughts,
You can easily get to know your mind and its activities.
So let's get started.
Find a comfortable seated position,
Sitting on your chair or on the floor.
Make sure your knees are lower than your hips.
Allow your eyes to close.
Then take a deep inhale through your nose and full exhale through your mouth.
Take another one,
A deep inhale through your nose and a full exhale through your mouth.
Last one,
Deep inhale and full exhale.
Breathe naturally,
Slowly align your attention with the flow of your breath.
For the next few minutes,
Let's observe our mind.
Imagine that your thoughts are a stream and you are sitting on the bank,
Watching them flow by.
Now you are taking a moment to see the contents of your mind flowing by without any judgment or interference.
Simply observe the fluctuations in your thoughts,
Emotions,
Feelings and impressions.
Witness them.
The breath is your anchor to the shore.
When you get caught by a thought and pulled downstream,
Recognize it's a thought and gently release that thought.
Don't fight it.
Slowly reconnect with your breath.
Notice how often your mind wanders.
You can see how mind is easily affected,
Distracted,
Excited,
Always busy.
It is impossible to still or control it.
One thought follows another.
You can't get rid of them.
Wherever you direct your attention,
The mind is already there.
It moves with your awareness.
Check in with your attention.
Is your attention with your breath or downstream?
The mind is nothing but thought.
By becoming more aware of your thoughts,
You will be able to change your relationship to them and learn to use the mind as a tool to navigate the life.
Take a deep inhale through your nose and a full exhale through your mouth.
Gently open your eyes and take a moment to notice how you feel.
Thank you for taking the time to practice meditation with me.
