Hey friend,
Welcome to today's meditation centered around holding space for asthma.
I am currently here feeling my own asthma flare up and so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to create this audio for you and for me because I've been dealing with asthma my entire life and it has recently flared up more than it has in a long long time and just learning how to hold space for it again and holding it in a different way and learning some new tools.
I wanted to share that with you so I want you to just breathe with me throughout this.
We're going to be together here.
I want you to know that I am here with you that we're doing it together and I'm so sorry that you're going through this right now.
I know asthma is so uncomfortable sometimes and I just wish I could give you a hug or tell you so that you know that I can see and witness you because I do.
The biggest thing I've learned through asthma has really been that your body will not give you what you cannot handle which means that what you're going through right now even though it sucks even though it's horrible potentially even though it's so so uncomfortable you can handle it your body knows that you can handle it you will be okay you will be okay and so I want you to just let it out let it all the way out however whatever that looks like because however you're feeling makes sense it really makes sense and you deserve to let it all out.
I'm going to give you all the examples that come to mind for me and then I want you to add on your own permission slip to whatever else you need so I want you to cry sob let's not drip down your nose that's the biggest one for me I usually turn into a snotty mess right cough as loud as you need to throw up if you have to that's happened to me moan literally whatever feels good we're here together today to let it out use the space to let it out to know that it's safe to do so to know that it's safe to feel to know that you are safe in this and that your body can handle it it sucks so bad but you can handle it let's start on all fours if that feels comfortable to you I like to put my hands on the ground my knees on the ground focus on those connection points to the ground beneath you and start rocking in whatever way feels good to you movement helps asthma just soft gentle rocking movement whether that's up and back or side to side or round in a circle or sometimes I do figure eights with my body whatever feels good I want you to just gently rock yourself back and forth and know that that is okay and if that doesn't feel accessible to you right now I want you to shake your hands just shake them out just let them go because when we can move our bodies we can connect to them we can help ourselves feel through the things that we're going through so I want you to just breathe in and out however deep or shallow that looks it's perfect you're doing it exactly right all right now find a spot look forward straight ahead of you and with your head staying still use your eyes and look all the way to the left see how far you can get in your peripheral vision without moving your head and we're going to just continue to look to the left until you yawn swallow or sigh now your timing might be different than mine beautiful it's exactly right just keep holding those eyes to the left as your face continues to face forward for as long as you need pause this audio if you need to and then when you have done your movement when you have sighed swallowed or yawned look back forward dead on for just a second here with me this exercise is one of the easiest ways to calm our nervous system to teach our nervous system that it's safe right now and so with your head continuing to look forward look all the way to the right with your eyes and stay here in that peripheral vision as long as you need before you yawn or swallow or sigh keep breathing keep going if it happened if it hasn't happened yet that's okay it's coming that's exactly right all right let's breathe in and breathe out and I wonder if you could get any part of your breath through your nose I find sometimes that if I can get some part of the breathing cycle through my nose it's one of the easiest ways to help calm my lungs down too so if that feels good to you give that a try and just keep breathing because you are allowed to take up space here you are allowed to breathe here you are safe you are worth listening to you are worthy you can handle this I know you can oh it sucks right that's okay that's gonna be okay you are going to be okay everything is going to be okay I am here with you the planet is here with you and keep rocking and moving however that feels good and I want you to just envision whatever part of your body is connected to the ground right now that that could open up and you could just give all of your pain to the planet you could push all of that pain to the planet give it back the planet knows what to do with it it can handle it can alchemize it and make it something great but just imagine giving all of your pain to the planet I like to envision like lightning bolts leaving my hands and when that feels good when that feels complete I want you to envision the planet wanting to give you love and light back almost turn the nozzle into your body like the sun let the sun shine in maybe it feels good to have the planet give you that love and light through the top of your head or it can come back through your hands but just know that that love and light can go where the pain used to be just imagine it filling that space filling you with warmth and ease and light and movement and if it feels good move your body in a different way than you were before maybe you were rocking back and forth now go side to side maybe you were shaking your hands out in front of you shake them behind you if that feels good different signal to your body that that love and light is coming in if you can roll your shoulders back or roll your neck and know that the planet's got you I've got you I'm here with you everything is going to be okay you're allowed to take up space you are allowed to be here right now and I'm so sorry that this hurts but it makes sense why you feel this way just let it out here take as long as you need and if you need to restart this audio and listen again go for it I think I'm going to because when we allow space for our asthma to be without having to get through it with just sitting with it and knowing that we can handle it it sucks of course it does and the more we can hear ourselves the more we heal ourselves and so I'm just so proud of you for showing up today this is exactly right you are exactly right and everything you do you're doing for yourself is so beautiful and so amazing you are allowed to take up space you can handle this you deserve to let it out your feelings matter you matter and I'll see you next time
