In this brief recording we start simple and we stay simple because sometimes we just need a 5ish minute brain reset. We agree to set the past and future aside, and experientially connect with the now-ness of here. We continue to lean into curiosity, exploring what simply is, apart from should or supposed tos. (This rest does not center breath as a way to explore regulation) Note: Because many meditations focus on breath, which can be hard for some folks, this rest does not center breath as a way to explore regulation

Yeah,

It's so good,

So good to be together.

So let's just take a moment.

I'm gonna,

I've got my shell again to just use as my grounding object.

I'm really liking the feel of this in my hand.

So whichever feels right for you to have your eyes opened or closed and it might shift a little bit.

But just this invitation,

I'm really speaking to myself just as much as anyone else,

Just to gather my,

Our,

Your attention from where it had been.

It's like,

Ah,

Okay,

What am I setting aside?

What am I leaving behind from even just five minutes ago?

Ah.

Ah.

And to just even have that conscious acknowledgment.

Like,

Okay,

I'm leaving that behind.

I can return to it later.

Ah.

Just to bring more of me here,

More of my attention into this literal here and now-ness.

And we can do that in whatever way works best for us,

Whether it's noticing the body with gravity.

Ah.

Maybe with the contact of the body with what you're sitting upon.

Maybe through the back or the sit bones or the feet or whatever feels really simple to bring attention to in this moment.

Just letting the nervous system through the bones recognize the here-ness of whatever object is holding the body.

And again,

You can have eyes open or closed.

It can be nice sometimes to just see the simpleness around us.

Oh,

Or the sturdy,

The steadiness that's here visually as well as feeling the solidity or stability under us.

Hmm,

Maybe there's some simple sounds in your background or in my case,

I just keep hearing this exhalation coming out of my body,

This simple sound of breathing out and back in,

But just noticing your own simple sounds.

Maybe there's other simple experiences here through scent or taste.

And if there weren't shoulds and supposed tos and have tos,

There was just kind of what is and maybe intentionally being curious of the most simple or mundane what is experientially.

I'm just gonna be quiet for a little bit and we can let our attention connect to that,

That simple here-ness,

That simple is-ness.

Let's hear an experience.

Just really slowly,

Slowly letting the eyes open if they've been closed,

Maybe inviting the body to stretch a little bit if that is desired.

And we'll eventually make it back to the screen.

I love how quickly this recording works as a reset for my nervous system! It also was a perfect lead-in for a longer silent meditation.
