Welcome to discovering your sacred purpose,
A journey through meditation,
Visualization,
And the natural world.
Go ahead and find a comfortable seat and close your eyes.
Find your sit bones grounding into the earth and sit up,
Sit straight,
Sit well.
May your spine be a single column of light from the ground shooting up towards the sky.
Finding a balance in your body in which you can be both at ease and also alert.
Perhaps pick your chin up gently,
Face forward like the sun,
Ready to meet this next horizon.
Begin to notice the rhythm of your breath.
As you inhale and exhale in this ancient tidal rhythm,
Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth,
Being aware of any temperature changes as you inhale and exhale.
Inhale deeply and exhale completely.
Now let your thoughts go.
Let them drip down your skin cooling and washing away.
There is nowhere you need to go.
And as you drop in and down,
Let go.
Be here.
All of you is welcome here.
Take a moment and ask yourself the following question.
What do I want to know about my purpose?
Perhaps it's what am I here for or what do I do with this one wild and precious life?
Once you have your question,
You can acknowledge it and then go ahead and let it go.
With your eyes closed,
Imagine there's a staircase.
Stairs are descending down.
Walk towards the staircase and descend down,
Down,
Down.
Step by step by step.
And as you descend,
You notice a stillness surrounding you,
Enveloping you,
Holding you.
As you reach the bottom of the staircase,
There is a door.
Open the door.
You are now inside an enormous cavernous space.
You are in the belly of the earth.
There are no edges here,
No right angles,
Only curves.
You look down and you see you're actually on a boat floating in a pool of dark,
Still water all around you.
There is silence.
There is solitude.
There is no fear.
Each side of you,
As far as you can see,
Is water.
Though the boat is moving,
The water is perfectly still.
As you look around and you see darkness,
You recognize the darkness is just the absence of light.
The boat slowly comes to a stop on the shore and in front of you is the great mother tree.
20 stories,
30 stories,
40 stories high,
Reaching to infinity.
Her base is wider than the horizon.
Her trunk and crown higher than the sky.
You can feel the root system of this tree below your feet.
It's as if the mycelium is pulsing,
Holding you in this cavernous space.
And you know this is the center of the earth.
You have arrived at the heart.
Your heart swells.
Something within you has longed to be in her presence.
And now that you're here,
There is a great recognition.
Because your being is in the midst of her being,
What do you notice?
What arises?
Sensation,
Sound,
Color,
Image.
The space around your heart,
Perhaps there's a warmth there.
Bring your awareness to that warmth and allow it to grow.
And this warmth begins to draw a circle between the two of you into one resonant heart field.
Take a deep breath in and out and draw your attention to the question on your heart.
What am I here for?
What is my purpose in this life?
And ask Great Mother Tree your question.
When the Great Mother looks at you and opens a scroll,
Radiant white parchment flies before you,
Gleaming.
And she says,
Place your gift while you're here upon the scroll.
You're confused because you're asking her what your gift is and now she's asking you to give her yours.
You search through your life,
Your accomplishments,
What could be worthy enough to place on the scroll?
You can sense that the scroll would take nothing less than truth.
She draws your attention to the right where there's a cave and she says,
The scrolls of the truth of every living being are in that cave.
And that truth is so powerful it is the engine of the light of the sun.
You know that you can't lie to her.
You can't lie to yourself.
You want to bring your medicine,
Your gift into this world.
But you know that a job or a role or an identity is too small for the greatness of this scroll.
And she looks at you with all the loving kindness and tenderness that you can imagine.
She says,
Just place your heart on the scroll.
A flood of relief comes over you as you recognize that what is required of you is as simple and as large as the gift of your heart.
So you place your heart upon that scroll and it's received because it's truth.
And the scroll immediately rolls up and flies into the cave and joins the other scrolls of truth.
And you see the pulsing light of that cave.
This is what you belong to.
This is who you are.
And it is the truth of hearts that beats this planet to life.
Heartbeat by heartbeat by heartbeat.
You place your hands on your own heart.
And she looks at you again and says,
Nothing,
However small,
Done with fullness of heart is ever wasted.
Perhaps your medicine,
Dear one,
Is not what you do.
It's the infinite enoughness of your heart.
Now you rest and lay yourself down on the soil at the foot of the great mother.
You have found what you came here to find.
And in knowing that your heart is enough,
Just as you are,
Nothing more,
Nothing less.
It's time to go.
You stand,
You walk back to the boat and depart onto the lake and the water.
Still and cool,
You turn back to see the great mother.
You bow in reverence for how she holds the entire world together in her one embrace of endless loving awareness.
The boat returns to the opposite shore and you open the door and find the staircase.
You ascend the stairs up and up and up.
As you ascend,
You begin to see the sunlight growing brighter and brighter.
And you now know that that light is fueled by the truth of the hearts of all beings.
That the light we receive is equal to the light we give.
And you are full now of light.
And place your hands on your heart again.
Feel your own touch.
Can you give with a little bit more love?
And can you receive with a little bit more openness?
Allow your touch to contact your heart.
And now offer some words of kindness to yourself.
What do you need to hear?
What have you been waiting to hear?
You are enough.
You are more than enough.
You are good.
You are perfect as you are.
You are made of love.
And you are surrounded by love.
Now inhale your palms together and bring them up to your third eye.
And with gratitude and sacred recognition for the great mother tree,
For all of life,
For your own heart.
Good thanks.
For the mystery and beauty of what gives us life,
For the sacredness of our life,
And for how ours intersects with the great web of life in such a perfect way.
As you bow,
We give this practice back to the whole with metta,
Love and kindness.
As you sit back up,
You can slowly open your eyes and come back into your space.
Thank you for going on this journey with me and for being open to all that the great mother tree had for you.
May you be well.
May we all be well.
