Welcome to this Pregnancy After Loss meditation track.
My name is Lucy and I'm here today to guide you through this short meditation which is designed for fathers and birth partners who are helping to support and nurture mum.
So finding somewhere to rest comfortably,
Wherever you are,
Making sure that your posture is one that feels relaxed yet dignified and taking a moment to really give yourself permission to truly rest back on the surface that supports your body.
Really allowing the surface beneath you and behind you to take the weight of your body.
So in this moment then,
As you sit here comfortably,
Notice your feet firmly planted onto the ground and allowing your hands to rest on your thighs or wherever feels natural for you.
Feel the flow of your in-breath and your out-breath and if it feels comfortable just gently allowing your eyes to close.
So we'll begin by taking a deep breath in together,
So breathing in through your nose and then releasing the breath through your mouth and doing this a few times in your own way,
At your own pace,
Your own rhythm.
Focusing on the steady rhythm of your breath in this moment.
The in-breath,
The out-breath.
And as you breathe,
I'd like to invite you to visualize yourself as a strong tree.
Your roots are deep into the earth,
Steady,
Unmovable.
And you feel grounded.
Acknowledging the storm that you've weathered,
Your loss,
Your pain and allow yourself to feel its weight,
Just for a moment.
Breathing in deep into your body and releasing the breath.
Allowing the breath to return to its natural pace and rhythm again.
And bringing into your mind now this awareness of this new life growing.
And with this new life it brings a mix of emotions,
Hope,
Joy,
Doubts,
Even fear.
And acknowledge now that this is natural.
Remind yourself that it's okay to feel all of it.
And you're not weak for being uncertain or afraid.
You're simply human.
Imagining yourself now as a shield,
A protector for this child and the family that you are nurturing.
Your courage lies not in suppressing your feelings,
But in standing strong despite them.
And bring into mind the journey that's brought you here.
The loss that you faced wasn't just an event,
It changed you.
So really just acknowledging that.
Allowing the weight of it to be in your awareness now without judgment.
Knowing that it's okay to feel pain.
And it's okay to feel love for what was.
Taking in another deep breath into your body.
And as you breathe out picturing yourself releasing some of that weight now.
Not forgetting about it,
But allowing yourself to make space for what's ahead.
And again allowing your breathing to return to its normal pace and rhythm.
Now bringing your awareness into this moment now.
There's new life growing.
And with that new life there's new hope.
Picturing this hope now as a small but steady flame.
It doesn't erase the past,
But it lights the way forward.
You are here standing strong for yourself,
For your partner,
For this child.
Seeing yourself now as a steady anchor in a stormy sea.
Your presence bringing calm and safety.
Even when waves rise and fall,
You are unwavering.
Imagining moments ahead,
The laughter,
The sleepless nights,
All the first you'll share with this new child.
Know that your love and your effort and your strength,
These are what matter the most.
And as you breathe deeply into your body,
Repeating silently in your mind,
I am strong.
I honour the past and welcome the future.
I am strong.
I honour the past and welcome the future.
Taking a deep breath now into your body,
Breathing deep.
Releasing that breath,
Allowing the weight of all you hold now to release.
Allowing your shoulders to relax,
Your body to rest easy.
And in your own time,
If your eyes have been closed today,
Gently allowing your eyes to open.
I hope that this meditation today has brought you a little bit of ease.
