Hello,
Welcome so much to Your Body Has Poetry.
I'm so excited for you to experience this beautiful medicine of a class.
My name is Lamelia Armstrong.
I'm so honored to guide you today.
I want to go ahead and just drop us straight in to just a quick practice,
Drop into this present moment.
No matter where you're at in your day,
Just take a moment to feel safe to you.
Place one hand anywhere on your body that feels good.
Sometimes the heart space feels good,
Sometimes the belly.
Maybe it's just the thighs today.
Just wherever feels good.
Wherever you're at,
I want you to just notice the sensations of your body.
Just the tips of your fingers.
What does that feel like?
So notice that you have a marvelous body.
And then I want you to begin to play with what does it feel like to move your hands around your body without any rhyme or reason.
This may be even follow a sensation of discomfort.
You can follow a sensation of curiosity.
Just place your hands on your own body.
Maybe touching place someplace you normally wouldn't very much.
Maybe like the top of your nose or your earlobe or your cheek.
There's no right or wrong way to touch this different parts of your body.
You can go fast,
You can go slow.
Now I want you to invite in a play between the movement.
Maybe as you move to another spot,
Imagining a string of water is flowing from one spot to the next.
Again,
There's no right or wrong way to do this as you move from each spot.
Just feeling like you catch a little current as you touch one place to the other.
Your mind's going to want to get caught up in this right or wrong,
But I want you to just see if you can follow the intuition of your body to go to different spaces.
And just notice with each touch that you feel the presence of your own being.
And your body flow from one each spot to the next,
Making a giant weave throughout yourself.
Just one or two more seconds here.
Just coming into your own presence.
Beautiful.
And if you can open your eyes,
Come back to stillness.
You just did the entire practice I'm about to teach you.
This practice is called Kindred.
It's an intuitive movement,
Letting the wisdom of the body speak.
So often we get into the body and we think we don't know how to be in the body.
But as you tune in just that moment to drop into the presence of feeling your own body,
You pause time,
You pause sensations of your external environment in a minute.
And that is the beauty of this practice that I call Your Body is Poetry.
Because it's here that we get to remember our holiness and having a body.
And having a body that is always doing its best for us.
And you might have a lot of associations with that.
But this practice is here to bring friendship and attunement into your body.
So if you have ever been someone who's worried,
If you've ever experienced fear and predicted what might happen,
It's a beautiful mechanism in our body that allows us to keep ourselves safe.
But it's one of the most practiced forms of imagination.
And we know that on an atomic level,
We are mostly made up of nothing.
When you break down the atomic structure of everything that is including us as beings,
It's mostly space.
And what do we know about space?
There's potential opportunity there.
And so this practice blends feeling into the sensations of our bodies,
Letting our bodies speak its wisdom and playing in the imagination on purpose.
Often our imagination gets used to predict the future to keep us safe and worry and fear and anxiety.
But today we're going to practice it on purpose in a way that cracks us open and see the beauty of what's possible in our feeling states,
What's possible in our imagination,
And what's possible for our lives.
So for the next 20 minutes,
I'm going to invite you into a state of curiosity with your own body,
With your own imagination,
With your own experience.
To step into these layers of yourself.
And as you're practicing,
I invite you into a space that feels really good,
Where you can move a little bit.
Sometimes the movement just with your upper body feels good,
But if you have,
As we get in,
More movement that wants to happen in your lower part of your body,
I invite you to move into that expression,
Just being mindful of your own capacity and flexibility and where you're at in your body to not hurt yourself.
So as we dive into this practice,
There's a few things that come up when we explore an intuitive movement,
When we let the body express itself,
When we go into imagination state,
Is that we have this guard dog in us,
This piece of us that keeps us safe.
And it's really important that we are mindful that we have these pieces in us that will always,
One,
Ask if we're doing it right,
Because a lot of us are trained to do things right,
To belong,
To fit in,
To be a part of culture.
And there's another part of us that will always ask,
Am I okay right now to do this?
And that's the guard dog,
That's the internal system in us that keeps us safe because we're all tribal social creatures that are influenced by our environments.
And even when no one's around,
Sometimes there's still a little bit of pressure of like,
What if someone walks in?
What if someone sees me doing this?
Will I be okay?
And the more you can give permission to let yourself express being these movements,
Being these flows,
The more beautiful of an experience you're gonna have.
So these are your permission slips.
You get to keep giving yourself and I'll continue to cue you as we flow into this practice.
So with all of that in mind,
I invite you to again,
Close your eyes.
And we're gonna be going through just a few questions in the body and letting the intuitive body move that will help bridge the answers to our question and bring up visualizations,
Bring up ideas,
Bring up solutions,
Bring up insight,
Or building new bridges to these answers.
And I love this practice for getting into the body's wisdom.
So we're gonna just begin just like we did before.
We'll start with your hands on your body just to notice the sensations,
If that feels good.
And again,
You can just start with the gentle,
Just intuitive movement,
Touching your own body.
And then if it feels good,
You can start to just let the streams of movement take a little bit longer between points of contact,
Letting the body express itself as it moves between points of contact.
And as we're building this friendship with our body,
Saying I am here,
I'm paying attention,
Just repeating those statements in your mind's eye or out loud if that feels good.
I am here,
I'm paying attention.
Just moving my hands intuitively to touch the body,
Just letting the fluidity of the moment go between each touch,
Bridging the energy of it all.
I am here,
I am here.
I want you to ask now your heart space,
If it could open up to a new opportunity,
What would that feel like?
Maybe even placing your hands on your heart and letting your fingers slide out.
You could open to this moment.
You could open to a new experience.
If you could open,
What would that feel like?
Would your shoulders drop?
Would your chest open?
Letting the body express here and move here,
Bringing the fingers' attention to the throat space,
To the heart space,
To open.
Letting any visuals that want to come up,
Maybe even in your mind's eyes,
Imagine a door open as you open through the chest.
Open.
Maybe even tilt your head back and find your fingers down your throat.
No right or wrong way to do this.
Just find the sensation of your body.
Open.
Beautiful,
Now I want you to imagine your hands,
That you have opened up to a new experience.
Open to the door and before you is this beautiful orb,
And in it is playing something your body wants you to see.
Don't judge it,
Just let it come.
This glass orb,
Like a round speckle,
Like a movie playing inside,
Like a graphic inside.
Just letting it fill up,
Continuing to move with your body,
Letting that intuitive movement continue to build a circuit and guide with your body.
Holding the orb with your hands,
Feeling,
Imagining sensations around it.
As your heart opens,
What is projected from your heart into this orb?
And if it is just empty,
That is also beautiful.
It's just calling in a space for limitless possibility.
And if something has pulled through,
Letting that develop,
Letting the textures and the shapes,
And now I invite you to reach your hands through the orb and see if there's any interaction you can have with this vision.
So anything that is asking of you to integrate,
Or anything that it's asking you to release,
Be inhaling to receive,
Exhaling to release anything.
Beautiful.
And continuing with this orb vision,
Being it around this new vision that you've been given.
Is there anything in that outside of the orb that wants to come in and pop it?
Is there any sensation,
Memories,
Colors,
Shapes,
That feel like it might come surrounded as you continue to make the shape with your arms and feel into the space of it with your mind's eye and your hand?
And now I want you to imagine on a count of three,
That you are releasing all of that energy out of your body.
One,
Two,
Three,
Creating a barrier around it.
And as more starts to come in,
Wanting to take this new idea,
Wanting to project something onto it that is not actually what's inside,
I want you to imagine that your hands and your arms are glowing with the radiance of fields around your whole body now as you hold this new idea.
These outdated stories,
These old ways of being,
Letting them release out of your body and seeing even if you have a space in your body that maybe you're feeling a little more sincere,
Maybe you're feeling a little more of the sensations in your lower back,
Your upper back,
Your throat.
Maybe in your mind's eye,
Holding a orb in front of you and placing your hands there and the sensations of your body.
Seeing where in your body there's this protection,
Attention,
Calling,
Just witnessing for a moment,
Saying thank you,
Saying thank you.
Thank you,
Wise,
Beautiful body for showing me these places that have kept me from this vision.
And just noticing them just for a few more seconds here and thanking them for being here.
And they might seem a little foreign to you to make these loud sensations.
Usually we want to move straight into fixing them,
Straight in asking them to leave,
But they're here in the wisdom of your body.
They're here for wisdom.
And now just letting this orb just rest before you knowing it's not gonna go anywhere and then pulling our attention back into our body into any of the sensations that came up as you called in the projections,
The spaces around.
I want you to draw your fingertips now to the place in your body where you feel the strongest call for attention.
And again,
Like we practiced in the beginning,
Just touching this area and just thanking those areas for the ways they do show up to get a need that you understand something.
And in your mind's eye,
Just to ask this part of your body,
What do you need right now?
And a message might show up,
A color,
A vision might show up.
And then I want you to imagine placing that message into your hand as you listen,
Continue this intuitive touching.
Just taking a few minutes,
Moments to listen.
And I want you to imagine through your fingertips,
Just asking your body to hold it in your fingertips for just a few minutes.
Asking your body,
You say,
Can we hold this in my hands for a few minutes?
Watching it now like the strings being pulled out of a shoelace.
And then into your fingertips,
Into your palms.
Placing your palms out in front of you,
Your warp's still there in front of you,
But now you have this protection in your hand.
And you acknowledge it and say,
I've got you.
And you sit up a little bit taller,
Drop your shoulders back,
Spine grows taller.
You say,
I've got you.
As if you are on the seat,
The throne of your body.
And you say,
I've got you.
Asking the body to call in all the experiences,
All the resources so that you can hold this protection.
In your experiences and not in the cells.
And then from here,
You can either gently place the fingers back into that area if that feels good.
Or if it feels okay,
Just imagining that you are passing this to a future version of yourself that knows how to hold that space of protection for you.
Imagining them right before you,
Like standing before a mirror.
And passing that energy to them.
And they know how to hold all of that in you.
Spending a few minutes just releasing that out of your palms to them.
And then we're going back into touching the body.
Whatever feels good,
There's no right or wrong way.
You get a feeling.
I'm coming back to some stillness,
Coming back to this beautiful orb.
Picking it back up in this last practice.
And asking the bodies there a way that I've shown up to what's before me.
A way that has been trying to perform.
Trying to push this reality into existence.
And all I needed to do is trust it's becoming and follow intuitive hits of what is the next right step.
So now instead of taking this orb and trying to put it anywhere outside of you,
I want you to imagine it's getting a little bit smaller to be stored with you.
You're bringing your hands together and so the fingers touching,
Like you're holding the orb to your fingertips.
And then I want you to place it into your heart space.
And as you do,
Begin to open through the chest,
Stretching the arms out wide.
Feeling it integrate and lock into the body and this beautiful desire of your heart.
And letting it anchor there into the cells,
Weaving itself inside of you.
And this beautiful desire you've created.
Trusting that in its time,
You'll be led through to it.
And that you can release the projections,
You can release the protections,
You can release the adaptation.
And if you've noticed as you put that orb in,
If there's anything else that wants to come through about how it's supposed to go,
Did you do it right?
And just let your hands gently hold the boundary against that and say,
Thank you,
I have this.
Wisdom of my body knows exactly how to go.
Wisdom of my body knows exactly how to flow,
How to choose the next right step.
Beautiful.
And gently coming back to stillness.
You're rubbing your hands on your thighs.
And placing one hand on your heart and one on your belly if that feels good.
It's a gentle bow of your beautiful body.
Mysteries of our imagination.
I can move and flow and circuit.
Trusting into the openness to the vision you've casted in your heart.
Letting it draw in beauty and goodness for you.
Trusting that what comes for you is the exact path,
The exact medicine,
Even if it seems frustrating at first,
You need to ask,
Where is this true?
I mean,
Life gives us what we need to have these desires met,
A place of greatness and beauty.
Thank you so much for joining me today.
Thank you so much for practicing this short practice of your body as poetry with me.
This was a beautiful self-guided visualization journey using kindred.
This class is also really powerful when we get into community experiences,
Which are more inside my programs.
And I look forward to meeting you there one day.
Let me know how you're feeling in the comments below and hope to share more of these practices with you into somatic experiencing and imagination.
Take good care.
