Box breathing, also known as square breathing, is deep intentional breathing to calm and regulate the autonomic nervous system, reduce stress, increase your mood and improve your focus. Box Breath Meditation is a powerful, relaxation technique that aims to return breathing to its normal rhythm. This breathing practice can be done anywhere, including at a work desk or in a cafe.

Welcome to the Box Breath Meditation.

The technique is simple.

We close our mouth and slowly inhale through the nose for 5 seconds,

Hold our breath for 5 seconds,

Exhale through the nose for 5 seconds and then hold the exhalation for another 5 seconds.

Is this breathing meditation sitting upright or standing up tall?

You can place one hand on the chest and the other hand on the lower stomach.

When breathing in,

Try to feel the air and see where it's entering.

Take a moment to settle in.

Set your practice intention.

Breathe in deeply,

Inhale through the nose and exhale completely through your mouth,

Getting all the oxygen out of your lungs.

Now you can close your eyes.

Inhale deeply into your nose.

Hold your breath inside.

Slowly exhale to your nose.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Hold your breath.

Exhale.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Hold your breath.

Exhale.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Hold your breath.

Exhale.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Hold your breath.

Exhale.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Hold your breath.

Exhale.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Hold your breath.

Exhale.

Hold your breath.

Inhale.

Slowly close your practice and come back to your natural breathing rhythm.
