In this Inner Child Reconnection (sophrology visualization), you’ll start with a relaxing body scan. Then you’ll imagine yourself as a child, visualize yourself now as an adult, and imagine the meeting of these two entities. PLEASE NOTE that I use "she/her" when I refer to you as a child. Sophrology is a mind-body wellness modality that has been popular in Europe for 62+ years.

Welcome to Inner Child Reconnection.

I'm Marianne DeClerc and thank you for joining me here today.

In this practice,

You'll start by relaxing your body and mind.

Then you'll imagine yourself as a child and then visualize yourself now as an adult.

And then imagine the meeting of these two entities.

Before we get started,

Take a moment to get comfortable,

Either sitting on a chair or lying down.

Know that you can change your position at any time during the relaxation.

Be kind to yourself and welcome any feelings,

Sensations,

Images or thoughts with gentleness,

Self-compassion and non-judgment.

Take a position in which you feel no tension and change anything you need to in order to feel more comfortable.

Taking off your glasses,

Covering yourself with a blanket,

Maybe putting a cushion under your head.

Gently close your eyes and begin to listen to your body.

Become aware of your body comfortably sitting or lying down.

Feel all the points of contact between your body and the support beneath you.

The back of your head,

Your arms,

Your hands,

Your back,

Your buttocks,

Your legs and your feet.

Feel your body stretching out more and more with each breath.

It's as if all your muscles are melting every time you exhale.

And become aware of the calm settling into your body.

Bring your attention to your head and face.

Feel your scalp release and relax.

Soften your forehead,

Relax your eyebrows.

Feel your eyelids getting heavy and relax all the muscles around your eyes.

Relax your temples,

Your cheekbones,

Your nose.

Feel the cool air around your nostrils as you inhale and the warm air around your nostrils as you exhale.

Relax your cheeks,

Unclench your jaws,

Allow your tongue to rest naturally in your mouth.

Feel your throat relaxing and know that you can swallow freely.

Become aware that your face is completely relaxed.

And now let the release continue down into the nape of your neck.

Down through your traps and your shoulders.

Release your shoulders downwards.

And let this feeling of relaxation continue down into your upper arms,

Your elbows,

Your forearms,

Your wrists,

And your hands right down to your fingertips.

Become aware that your upper limbs are completely relaxed.

And now bring your attention to your back.

Feel a sort of relaxing warmth running through your back.

And imagine that with every exhale your back stretches out more and more.

Relax all the muscles along your spine from your upper back through down your shoulder blades,

Mid-back,

And down to your lumbar region.

Become aware that your back is completely relaxed.

Bring your awareness to your chest.

Observe the movements of your ribcage as you breathe.

Notice your ribs opening as you inhale and closing as you exhale.

Notice how these movements are calm and regular.

And maybe you can hear or feel your heartbeat.

And notice how it too is calm and regular.

Feel your belly relaxing,

Letting go.

And notice the regular calm rise and fall of your belly as you breathe.

Let this feeling of relaxation diffuse down into your pelvis.

Relax your hips,

Your buttocks,

And your perineum.

Become aware that your upper body is completely relaxed.

And allow this feeling of relaxation to now go down into your legs.

Release all the muscles around your thighs,

Your knees,

Your calves and your shins,

Your ankles,

And your feet right down to the tips of your toes.

Become aware that your lower limbs are completely relaxed.

Become aware that your whole body is completely relaxed.

And now start to visualize various images or photos of yourself as a child.

Choose one to focus on without any judgment and with a heaping dose of gentleness.

Observe your appearance,

Your clothes,

Look at your face,

And your expressions.

Take the time to see all the details of yourself as a child.

Now imagine this child in movement.

Look at the way she moves and talks.

Listen to her voice and the way she laughs.

Watch this child walk,

Skip,

And run.

Take the time to observe this younger version of yourself.

And now visualize yourself as you are today.

Observe your posture,

Your appearance.

See the way you move.

Imagine your face,

Your expressions,

And listen to the sound of your voice as you talk and laugh.

Take the time to see all the details of your adult self.

Imagine yourself now in a safe and pleasant place.

Notice the presence of this child,

Your younger self.

Watch her playing and having fun.

Softly say her name.

Invite her over to join you.

Imagine her walking now towards you.

Gently take her hand.

Hold her and hug her in your arms.

Savor this meeting to the fullest.

Take the time to listen to all that this child has to say.

Discover all her dreams and desires.

Listen to her doubts or fears and reassure her about her abilities and the future.

Listen to her advice and recommendations and welcome her compliments,

Admiration,

And gratitude.

Pay attention to her words.

Become aware of the richness of your reconnection and the benefits of your discussion.

Now let her go away and keep the memory of this meeting in your heart.

Let your inner child's message resonate within you.

And enjoy the pleasant sensations that this message gives you.

Integrate these feelings within.

Remember that these sensations are always in you.

And think about activating them in your everyday life.

Come back to the points of contact of your body with the support beneath you.

Feel the back of your head,

Your arms,

Your hands,

Your back,

Your buttocks,

Your legs,

And your feet.

Imagine the space that you're in and bring your awareness to the sounds outside.

Take a deep breath in through your nose to energize you and exhale through your mouth.

Take a normal breath when you're done.

And start to slowly move your hands and feet and the rest of your body.

You can take a big stretch with your hands out overhead pointing your toes.

And maybe yawn.

And when you're ready you can open your eyes.

Take a moment while you're still in this state of relaxation to think about what feelings,

Sensations,

Or images came up for you.

And remember that you can come back to this recording any time you want to reconnect with your inner child.
