The Courage To Act Anyway

With Beverley Harper

Most courses on self-worth stop at understanding. You learn why you do what you do, and then you're on your own to actually do something differently. This course closes that gap. Across seven short lessons, psychotherapist Beverley Harper guides you through a practical sequence for turning insight into real change: regulating your nervous system, spotting the rigid rules that quietly run your reactions, questioning the old beliefs beneath your sense of worth, and choosing a values-driven action even while old discomfort is still present. Each lesson is short and immediately usable no long visualisations, just one clear practice and one small action to carry into your day. The course moves from checking in with your body, to noticing rigid thinking, to gently questioning a belief about your worth, to identifying what matters most, and finally to a daily practice that outlasts the course. Everything here comes from approaches Beverley has used with clients for over twenty years in the therapy room. The goal isn't insight alone; it's the courage to act differently, even while the old feeling is still in the room.

Meet your Teacher

Beverley is a psychotherapist of more than 20 years and a clinical hypnotherapist. After decades of sitting with people in their most vulnerable moments, her work has evolved into sharing the simple, steady "techniques from the therapy room" that help people feel safer, softer, and more at home within themselves. At the heart of everything she teaches is a deep understanding than when people reconnect with their self-worth and understand their nervous systems, something powerful shifts. Old patterns loosen, mindsets become more flexible. And abundance, emotional, spiritual, and sometimes practical, begins to flow in a way that feels natural rather than forced. Her work weaves together psychological insight, nervous system–aware practices, soothing hypnotic guidance, and gentle mindset shifts to help people remember their worth and create an inner environment where calm, clarity, and possibility can take root. On Insight Timer, she shares calming practices, reflective teachings, self-worth and abundance guidance, and sleep support, all offered with the intention of helping listeners settle their minds, soften their inner world, and feel supported as they step into their next chapter.

Lesson 1

Tending The Soil: Regulate Your Nervous System Before You Try To Change Anything

Why insight alone so often fails to change behaviour and the one nervous-system skill that has to come first. This lesson introduces a thirty-second regulation practice you can use anywhere, before attempting any new behaviour, and sets up the daily “watering” habit that runs through the rest of the course.

Lesson 2

Spotting The Weeds:Notice The Rigid Rules Running Your Reactions

The rigid “shoulds” and “musts” running quietly underneath your reactions rarely get questioned because questioning them feels riskier than just obeying them. This lesson guides you to spot one such rule in a real recent moment, then practice a gentle first shift: from rigid demand to flexible preference.

Lesson 3

Checking For Pests: Catch The Early Signal Before It Escalates

Long before you snap, shut down, or spiral, your body sends a much smaller signal first. This lesson teaches a simple catch-name-act sequence for noticing early nervous system signals and meeting them with one of three quick regulating moves, before they have a chance to escalate.

Lesson 4

The Door That's Stayed Closed: A Gentle First Step Toward What You Usually Avoid

Everyone has at least one belief or memory they avoid looking at directly. This lesson is a gentle, titrated approach to that material, never demanding more than a glance, and offering full permission to look away. You'll find one plain sentence that names what's there, without yet needing to do anything more.

Lesson 5

What's Inside: Three Questions To Loosen An Old Belief's Grip

A direct, practical look at the core belief behind your self-worth wound using three simple questions rather than reliving or analysing anything. Includes a built-in regulation checkpoint, so you always have a way to pause or ground yourself if the material feels bigger than expected.

Lesson 6

What You'd Plant Instead: Choose One Action, Even While The Old Feeling Is Still There

The hinge lesson of the course. You'll identify a value underneath the action you'd take if the old belief didn't get the final vote and commit to one small, specific, time-bound action within the next 48 hours. Includes the course's central idea: courage isn't the absence of the old feeling; it's choosing the action while the feeling is still there.

Lesson 7

Daily Tending: Make The Practice Sustainable, Long After The Course Ends

The closing lesson brings the three daily habits- watering, checking for weeds, checking for pests, together into one sustainable practice, and closing the loop on the action you committed to in Lesson 6. Honest about what comes next: old patterns will return, and that's simply what tending looks like, season after season.
