Welcome to this short meditation that points us beyond the world’s troubles – beyond stress, fear, worry, and concern. By focusing our attention on space we are able to access deep relaxation and peace where we are held and supported at all times. Meditating on space allows us a welcome break from the troubles of the world to attain higher states of peace and unity. To give power to this meditation, the ancient Indian mantra, Om shanti, shanti, shanti (peace of mind, body, and spirit) will be used to enhance your sense of deepening peace. Pauses will also be used to enhance the experience.

Welcome to this meditation,

Beyond the Troubles of the World.

Sit with your spine straight or lying down in a comfortable position.

Wiggling your fingers a little and noticing the life force in your hands.

You may notice a slight tingling feeling or a warm sensation.

Just getting a sense of energy in the fingers,

A sense of their aliveness.

Coming into present moment awareness of the body allows us to gently let go of the active mind.

Now taking some slow deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

In through the nose and out through the mouth.

In through the nose and slowly exhaling through the mouth.

Breathing in this way we feel the body coming into deep relaxation and the mind becomes calm and clear.

Just take a few moments to breathe slowly in this way.

And now gently shifting your attention up and out beyond the sky into limitless space.

Sensing the vast emptiness where all the troubles of the world fall away.

Here you merge with that vast space that's always at peace,

Always still.

Always silent.

This peace is available at all times,

Quietly present without judgment.

Absorbed in this space you feel a sense of unity,

Of wholeness,

Of connection with the loving heart of the universe.

Notice how the space holds and supports you.

You are forever in the arms of the universe,

Embraced,

Comforted,

Nurtured and cared for.

You are held in the heart of space and it never stops loving you,

Never stops supporting you.

When the troubles of this world have come and gone,

This loving space remains unchanged.

And this is your natural condition.

Om Shanti.

Shanti.

Shanti.

Shanti.

And now absorbed in this spacious awareness you sense the falling away of all worldly troubles.

And in this space we sense that everything is taken care of.

Everything is held together by a loving higher source.

And all concerns and all troubles and fears are absorbed in the tranquility of space.

This loving space remains unchanged.

And this is your natural condition.

Om Shanti.

Shanti.

Shanti.

At one with space you access the vast freedom of the universe,

Where peace is the natural state of being.

There are no troubles,

Problems or dilemmas here.

There is nothing to do,

Nothing to change,

Nowhere to go.

Integrated with the vast emptiness of space,

You are simply free to be beyond all the troubles of the world.

Welcome home.

Notice how the space holds and supports you.

You are forever in the arms of the universe,

Embraced,

Comforted,

Nurtured and cared for.

You are held in the heart of space and it never stops loving you,

Never stops holding you.

When the troubles of this world have come and gone,

The loving space remains unchanged.

And this is your natural condition.

Om Shanti.

Shanti.

Shanti.

And now just gently bringing your attention back to the breath.

Just following its natural motion,

Rising and falling.

And feeling the bodily sensations stirring again.

Wiggling your fingers and toes back to life.

Rest for a few moments before returning to your day.

Thank you so much for joining me.

Om Shanti.

Thank you for this meditation. In the midst of a challenging situation, it helped me find the place inside myself that wants to approach and repair the situation from a place of love. Thank you.
