Take a moment to choose a comfortable position.

Allow your body to rest and allow all physical effort to be released.

Let your eyes close.

Take a moment to notice the sweet and nourishing darkness of your eyelids.

And maybe this darkness can be the very signal for you to stop and open and rest for a few precious minutes.

Allow your eyes and your sense of sight,

Your gaze,

To become the center of your attention.

Your eyes and your sense of sight are related to the element of fire.

Fire or Agni in Sanskrit is that in us which powers our desires.

It creates our vision,

Not just our physical vision,

But also our vision in life,

Our sense of direction.

It is also that in us which energizes us.

It gives us the steadiness and resilience to bring this vision into fruition.

In Ayurveda,

Fire is also what allows us to digest.

The digestive fire.

And the digestive fire refers not just to food,

But also sensory input,

Thoughts and emotions.

Welcome your sense of sight and the element of fire.

And as you do so,

Allow your eyes to soften towards the back of your head.

Allow them to rest and be nourished by the Nidra.

Allow them to rest so that you can see more clearly when you reopen them later on.

For now they are not necessary.

And as you surrender your sense of sight,

Allow your other senses to become more sensitive.

Let your awareness expand from your eyes and your sense of sight to the whole of your body.

Let your body truly rest and release any physical tension.

Now remember your sense of sight is gone.

It is gone to rest.

You can't rely on it anymore.

Ask yourself what would you know about your body if your sense of sight is completely gone.

Imagine you've never seen your body before.

How would you know that you have one?

Allow your attention to sink into the experience of having a body,

Of being embodied.

You might notice that although your vision is at rest,

You have intimate experience of your body.

And this experience is possible through the flow of sensations.

It's like having an inner vision or a night vision.

Some of these sensations seem purely physical.

You might notice a sensation of contact,

Feeling of tension,

Comfort,

Tingling.

Maybe you feel cold or warm.

Every time you notice a physical sensation,

It can be a signal for this particular part of the body to relax and rest a little deeper.

And now,

Of all these physical sensations,

Allow your attention to focus on the feeling of warmth,

Your inner fire.

I'm not sure where you're experiencing it the most,

But take a look for yourself.

Maybe the thighs or the inner thighs and the groin.

Maybe the belly or the area just underneath the solar plexus.

Maybe the underarms and the palms of the hands or the mouth.

Wherever you are noticing it,

Allow this natural warmth to spread out and embrace or cuddle you up.

Allow it to reach out to all other cells of your body.

Allow it to warm up any parts of your body that may be feeling cold or tense.

Let that warmth soften every resistance it means in your physical body right now.

Now let your attention become more expansive and inclusive.

Notice any emotions present in you right now.

Notice that emotions also have physical experience in your body.

They come with sensations.

Allow them to also be present in this contemplation.

And as your attention is becoming more welcoming and expansive,

Allow it to flow naturally without effort to a part of your experience that needs extra care right now.

It might be an area of tension or pain.

It might be a difficult emotional experience.

Whatever it is,

Allow it to be apparent naturally.

And it might also be that nothing requires your attention,

In which case you can focus on a beautiful feeling in your body.

It doesn't matter.

The invitation really is to work with your experience as it is.

Whatever is appearing is exactly right.

Now visualize your attention becoming very small,

Shrinking in size.

And as it does so,

It gets into a little bubble of air,

A magical spaceship of sorts.

And this bubble goes into your mouth and starts traveling through your body.

Little by little it goes all the way to the very center of this experience in your body.

And really make sure that you make it travel to the very core.

This is particularly true with feelings.

Don't stop at the surface of the feeling if you're working with a feeling.

See if you can let your attention sink much deeper than that,

Beyond the likes and dislikes,

To the very core of the emotion.

In this feeling or physical experience being like a very dark room,

A dark chamber,

It has hardly ever seen the light of your awareness.

And as your attention gets there,

Imagine it come out of its bubble.

It pulls a candle out of its pocket and it lights it up.

At first the flame is very timid.

Now imagine this room has been closed for a long time and there's very little oxygen in there.

But the small flame slowly starts shining.

This very dark room starts becoming a little lighter.

Perhaps just enough for your attention to look around.

It's still very hard to see and you're not used to this sight.

And then perhaps your inner gaze starts adjusting to the darkness a little more.

And so as you look a little deeper you start recognizing the silhouettes of some boxes.

Boxes of memories perhaps.

Some boxes filled of experiences where you felt like this before.

And so the first boxes you see are quite recent and you remember them relatively well.

Your attention starts feeling more encouraged to get closer.

It steps towards one of these boxes and the light of the candle illuminates it.

You see the events from close by.

The flame is now bathing the box in the light of your awareness.

You might notice some different aspects or points of view about this event.

The flame of the candle is now getting steadier and allowing all of the box to be illuminated.

Allowing all of the box to be suited and warm.

You take another step closer and the box catches fire.

It's not a painful fire.

It's a really warm and radiant,

Healing fire.

The fire of your loving awareness.

You're no longer looking at this event in the box.

You are becoming one with it.

And it's being consumed by the fire of your awareness.

So the fire is now getting bigger and steadier.

It has more fuel.

And what used to be quite a somber and unknown room is now becoming less unknown.

A little more familiar to your inner eye.

This innermost dark chamber of your feelings is bathed in this light and warmth.

All of its dark corners are visible to your awareness now.

Rather than a dark place,

Little by little it starts feeling like a warm cocoon.

The flame of your awareness first illuminates the unknown corners of the room.

Then lets them bathe in its healing warmth.

Little by little they catch fire and they're fully consumed by it.

The fire turns them into itself.

The oldest boxes are now progressively catching fire.

Perhaps some really old memories of when you felt like this for the first time.

You're not just illuminating them.

You're not just bathing them into the warmth of the fire.

You are also becoming one with them.

And it can be so healing.

Soon all the contents of the room are completely consumed by the fire.

And this dark cavity of the heart is now warm and radiant.

The wall starts melting and the fire starts spreading into your chest.

You can offer all feelings,

Sensations,

Knots of resistance to this flame.

The flame is now filling up all of your torso,

Turning everything it meets into itself,

Melting any resistance with its warmth,

Bathing everything in soothing radiance.

Surrender every feeling or sensation to this expanding fire.

Make an offering of it.

The flame grows into the shoulders and throat and down into the pelvis.

As ever,

It first illuminates any feelings,

Any areas of tension or resistance.

Then it bathes them into its warmth and eventually turns them into itself,

Glowing radiant fire.

When it spreads down towards your feet and sideways into your arms,

Every finger and every toe catches fire like a little candle.

The flame spreads towards your mouth and your head is bathing in it now.

Any mental resistance is starting to melt.

Any anxious thoughts or any resistance in your mind to the fire,

Make an offering of it all.

Soon all of your physical body is illuminated,

Bathed and eventually consumed by this flame.

It's not really a painful fire,

But a beautiful radiant healing fire,

A fire of love.

This warm radiance is turning the whole body into itself.

A very potent force.

This radiance now glows above and beyond the limits of your room and all the way out of your house and into the world.

The whole of your neighborhood starts catching your fire.

The whole of the city where you live,

The area where you live.

The whole continent.

The whole world can be really warmed and suited by your willingness to burn.

As the fire encounters any suffering,

Any tension,

Any discomfort,

Yours or someone else's.

At first it shines its light on it,

Then bathes it into its warmth and eventually consumes it completely.

So give yourself to this fire and leave nothing out.

Make a full offering of yourself.

I have to admit this is one of the oddest and yet most sensitively crafted Nidra I have been blessed to experience! The sensation and warmth of the fire that illumines, penetrates, consumes and heals has transformed the darkened or hidden aspects of my body, mind and entire being into a soothing Lightness of Being. That I could spread this warmth of healing fire into the world also comforted me. I only wish the experience did not have to end so abruptly. I will have to keep that fire of love burning even when the meditation ends! Thank you so much for this brilliant, healing practice!🙏🔥✨💥💖
