Welcome to the Padma Shambhava meditation.
Find a comfortable seat.
Maybe you'd like to place something underneath you or place your back against a wall.
But just make sure you can sit undisturbed and comfortably for the next five minutes or so.
Throughout this practice,
We're going to connect with the figure of Padma Shambhava,
Symbolizing the essence of peace and tranquility.
So begin by taking three to four deep breaths.
If you'd like,
You can count the breaths.
Breathing in slowly,
Count to four,
And breathing out slowly,
Count to four.
Just go in your own timing,
Noticing where the breath sits in your body,
Noticing areas of comfort,
Perhaps areas of discomfort,
And keep returning to your breath.
Allow your body and mind to settle.
Let your eyes close and really feel this moment right here,
Right now.
Imagine a serene lake just at the level of your forehead.
In the middle of the lake,
Visualize a beautiful lotus flower with brilliant red petals.
Atop this lotus flower sits Padma Shambhava,
Emanating a brilliant white radiance.
Padma Shambhava is the form of a being which is filled with love,
Light,
And compassion.
It may appear as a solid figure,
Or it may just come as a dancing light.
Let Padma Shambhava,
The lotus being,
Appear to you in whatever way is comfortable,
Is nurturing,
Is supportive.
Now envision a white beam of light emanating from between the eyes of this Padma Shambhava,
This lotus being.
See this beam of light pouring into the point between your eyebrows,
Infusing every cell of your being with a profound sense of well-being and joy.
And then shift your attention down to the throat of this radiant being,
And imagine a beautiful,
Soft,
Red beam of light emitting its light into the notch at the base of your throat.
As you hold this red beam,
Envision yourself filled with energy and strength.
And then continuing downward,
Focusing on the heart of Padma Shambhava,
Visualize a beam of soft,
Blue light moving through the heart of Padma Shambhava and extending to the center of your own chest,
Just slightly to the right of your heart.
Imagine this blue beam transforming into a broad,
Blue avenue of light,
Extending from the bright red lotus in the middle of the lake into your own heart.
As you hold this vision,
Witness the tranquil figure,
Padma Shambhava,
Rising and descending along this avenue of light,
Entering your heart and taking a seat there,
Recognizing that as Padma Shambhava sits in your heart,
That you are that grace and that beauty.
You are that lotus being.
Feel pure serenity and pure peace infusing every cell of your body.
Maintain the focus,
Padma Shambhava,
In your heart,
Feeling how you are separate from peace.
You are the peace itself.
And then feel the blue light spreading into every cell of your body.
Let it dissolve any tensions or discord,
Connecting you with boundless love,
Endless compassion.
And let your thoughts be like clouds,
Just gently floating,
Passing through the sky.
No need to hang on to any of them.
Keep staying in your heart for a few more moments,
Feeling that sense of peace and pure stillness,
Recognizing that you are the nature of that peace,
That light,
That stillness.
As you finish this practice,
Carry the sensations,
The feelings,
And the emotions with you,
Remembering that this is who you are,
This profound stillness.
And let that inspire the rest of your day.
And let it touch everyone that you meet.
