While recording this,
I'm sitting in my local park.
You may hear nature sounds,
Wind,
Children's laughter,
People passing by.
I'm recording this as a live talk because I'm awake in the world.
I'm alive and I'm here and now and so are you.
Traumatization shows up in many different ways.
At times you may feel like you are swimming beneath a frozen lake,
A forever mermaid trying to break free.
It might feel like quicksand and slow or moving fast.
You may feel like you are slowly dissolving and disappearing.
You can feel like the devil on your chest while sleeping,
Caught between waking and dreaming,
Unable to speak,
Move or breathe.
Trauma comes like a wave,
A flash,
A dream that lingers into day.
It can be a scent or a taste that is a familiar,
Disturbing reminder of our past.
Dear ones,
Trauma lives in bones and flesh and becomes a muscle memory of its own.
When you feel everything that is trauma and traumatization,
Your system and how you feel is dysregulated.
There are things that we can do to calm and soothe while we heal.
Healing is a process and is different for everyone.
So right here,
Wherever you are,
Sitting,
Standing,
Walking,
Take a moment right here to be still,
To come back to this body and this breath.
Place your hand on your chest and a hand on your abdomen and breathe in deeply.
Feel your lungs and feel your hand on your chest and on your abdomen.
Feel your own body,
This container that is you.
Feel your own heartbeat.
Find your own heartbeat and breathe deep.
Right here,
Right now,
Dear one,
You are safe.
Right here,
Right now,
You are safe.
Right here,
Right now,
We are experiencing this beautiful life for all that it is.
Take a nice breath in and let go and come back to how you feel in your body,
The sensation of fingers and toes,
The air breathing coming in through your nostrils.
And now we move on through our day.
You can do this anywhere,
Anytime,
Whenever you need to.
Take care,
Dear one.
You are loved.
