This is for when we're stressed or worried or something else like that.

Sometimes life is hard because we worry about things.

Sometimes we can have thoughts that we don't want.

Thoughts are like words or pictures in our heads.

Sometimes they're helpful.

Sometimes they're not helpful.

Sometimes we can have feelings that we don't want.

Feelings are things in our body,

Usually our bellies,

That can feel nice or not nice.

Sometimes we can have feelings that we don't want.

Feelings are things in our body,

Usually our bellies,

That don't feel nice or that can feel nice.

Sometimes we can feel yucky.

Sometimes we can feel scared.

Sometimes it can be a little feeling of fear that we notice.

Okay,

So I want to give you some help here.

I have three points to make.

See which one you prefer.

Point number one,

It's okay to feel a little bit nervous sometimes.

Next time you feel nervous or a bit yucky or another feeling you don't want to have,

What might it be like to speak to yourself in kind words?

Studies have shown that people who speak to themselves in kind words have been shown to be happier and to deal with life situations better.

Point number two,

We all have yucky feelings sometimes.

And feelings like this always come and go.

So it can be good to remind ourselves that whatever we're feeling,

Feelings always come and then they go in their own time.

Point number three,

Next time you feel a little uneasy,

Scared or worried,

We can use a special trick that has been proven by studies in science.

Just gently focus on your breathing.

This will help you for when you need to stay connected to whatever you're doing.

If you notice how your breathing feels,

You won't get so caught up by unhelpful thoughts in your head as much.

You might like to try this now.

Just notice the gentle rise and fall of your breathing right now as I'm talking to you.

The more you connect to this,

The more it helps us be in a calm space.

If you notice how your breathing feels,

The longer you do this,

The more calm we can feel if we gently keep coming back and staying with the breath.

So you may like to listen to these three points again.

And you might like to choose with your mom,

Your dad or your teacher,

Which one you might like to remember for when you're feeling worried,

Upset or just pretty yucky about something.

Thank you for being here.

I'll speak to you again soon.

Goodbye.

*** REQUEST!*** Hi Reuben! are there any longer versions of kids countdowns? I can’t find one in your tracks. Would absolutely love it as we are using it as a sleep countdown version for Pheebs. She doesn’t t resonate with the adult ones of yours I listen too each night (which I love!) Thank you 🙏 😊 Phoebe is loving your tracks & talks. Really helping her breathing & in turn work through her “energy in motion” thank you Reuben 🙌🙏
