All too often we stay stuck in the past - past trauma and all the past difficult situations we've been through - because we can't let go of the question of why. Why did that happen to me? Why did he leave? Why didn't they love me more? Why, why, why... it keeps us stuck in the past and stops us from seeing the true beauty of our lives now. This meditation will help you to release all the why's associated with all the difficult things you've been through, so you can finally let go and truly move on.

Welcome,

My name is Saskia and this is a guided meditation from Self Healing Mondays.

A place to come and get away from your life for a little while.

To step off the world and breathe.

So to start,

Let's just breathe together.

Let's breathe as deep as we can through our nose and let the remnants of whatever's transpired before we sat here in this meditation.

Let's just breathe everything out so we can bring ourselves to this very moment.

So breathe in deeply through your nose and sigh everything out.

And again,

Breathe deeply through your nose and let go of everything outside of yourself.

One more time,

Breathe in as deeply as you can and release everything that doesn't serve you now.

And just be here with me as you are,

Feeling whatever you're feeling,

With whatever thoughts are popping in your head.

All of it,

All of you is welcome here,

Exactly the way you are.

So just be exactly how you are.

Don't change anything.

Just accept,

Surrender,

Let go of doing and just be.

Today's guided meditation is to let go of the word why.

We don't realize how often we get stuck in the whys,

In the asking.

It keeps us locked in things that happened before.

It keeps us locked in old wounds,

Old traumas,

Situations that are in the past.

Why did he do that to me?

Why couldn't it have been different?

Why did I make that decision?

Why couldn't things turn out differently?

Why did she hurt me?

Why did I hurt them?

Why weren't my parents better?

So many whys all the time.

And what we don't realize is the whys are what keep us stuck in our pain,

In our fear,

In our struggle.

Because as long as we ask why,

We're always looking the wrong way.

As long as you ask why,

Not in the present moment,

Living your life now,

You're still in what was,

What is no more.

And so now I'm going to ask we do an exercise together to let go of the whys and set ourselves free.

You deserve to set yourself free,

To let go of the why and just accept and be here now.

And so I'd like you to think of a moment that has passed,

Something that happened in your life that is surrounded by questions of why.

The first thing that pops in your head,

I want you to think of that moment,

That time.

Perhaps it was your parents and the way they treated you as a child.

Perhaps it's something about your career,

A friendship,

Whatever it is where you're stuck in the why.

I want you to think of one of those situations right now.

And I want you to imagine that situation as a big red balloon right in front of you.

And now I want you to think of all the why questions that come up when you think about this situation.

And I want you to put each and every one of these whys in the balloon.

Why couldn't it have been different?

Why didn't they treat me better?

Why couldn't I have got that job?

Why did he have to choose her?

Why did they hurt me?

Why did I get it so wrong?

Any question with that thing that happened in the past,

Put all those questions,

All those whys in the balloon and let the balloon go.

And watch it drift away into the sky until you can't see it anymore.

And think of another situation,

An old wound,

An old trauma,

Something that happened last week,

Something that happened 20 years ago.

Think about the situation and again,

Imagine it as a red balloon and take all the whys and put those in the balloon too.

For this song and the next song,

I want you to repeat this practice.

Think about a time that you can't let go of,

A moment in time.

Imagine it as a red balloon,

Fill it with all the whys that you have asked and let that balloon go.

And then choose another situation and so on.

This is your chance to stop looking in the past and dwelling there,

Staying stuck there.

Use this time.

Connect,

Go deep and let go of the whys.

It's time to set yourself free.

Don't be afraid.

Don't be afraid to go back and look there.

Just this time.

Make this last time.

Remember it.

Think of all the whys you wish you could answer.

Put them all in the balloon and let it go.

You'll never find the answers you seek.

And as long as you ask why,

You'll stay stuck there.

Stuck in the wound,

Stuck in the pain.

You deserve so much more than that.

So keep going.

Keep thinking of any situation.

Why did I make that mistake?

Why couldn't I have known better?

Why didn't God intervene?

Why did they have to become an alcoholic?

Why do I find it so hard to let go of this?

Why can't they change?

Why can't things be different?

Why can't I make this better?

Why won't they love me anymore?

Why can't I love them?

So many whys.

It's time to let it all go.

We don't realize how often we question everything.

And the more we question,

The less we are present in our lives now.

Just experiencing,

Seeing,

Feeling,

Connecting,

Learning,

Growing,

Evolving,

And healing.

Letting go of why is how you allow yourself to heal.

So well done for the willingness.

Well done for doing this practice with me.

This means you love yourself.

That you want the best for yourself.

Be proud of yourself.

Appreciate yourself.

You deserve it.

You deserve all good things.

Let go of the question why.

Every time it pops in your head,

Choose to let it go.

Just put it in a red balloon and let it float away.

And just remember to bring yourself back to here in this very moment.

Be present in every precious moment.

This is an amazing practice and so freeing!! I seem to ask "why" quite often... It's always in the back of my mind. Thank you for this grand idea. I will continue the red balloon 🎈 release from now on! Manny blessings to you🙏🏽✨💜

I can't help but thinking about the Eurythmics song "Why". Anyway, I did not realize that the whys were keeping me from moving forward and releasing the past where I tend to dwell on all the whys of relationships not working, a dysfunctional childhood and mistakes made (some worst than others). It is not a surprise to me that I have work to do. This meditation gives another action to take to move on from the past. Thank you! (This emoji is supposed to be a ladder wirh me taking steps to get out of the past. 🪜) 🌠

I have always asked myself the question, why? Some things we aren’t able to understand but there comes a point when you have to stand strong and realize that you’re not the victim anymore. There going on with their life and you are destroying yours. This is my time and I refuse to let this mess up my life anymore than it already has. I am free and I have dreams and they take precedence over anything. I love who I am becoming and what’s in the past is in my rear view mirror! Buckle up because this ride is going to be everything that I deserved and what I deserve now. ✨🦋

This was amazing! Thank you! This past year I realized that I had to put down my “investigative reports“ trying to be a journalist hat, to figure out WHY all this stuff happened. When it really doesn’t matter the why. It did. And to heal I have to move on. And this meditation was a beautiful sum up of all of that new understanding. And it was a nice practice. Having space to list out all of the why’s, and then a mental activity to do with all of them, was really helpful.

Wow, what an excellent practice! I never thought of the whys in that manner; I definitely put a lot of mine in those balloons and sent them off. I’m going to implement this practice moving forward!! Thank you! 🙏🏻
