In this guided meditation, we will indulge in a simple practice of self-awareness. The goal is to go exercise the awareness and consciousness of our own thoughts and mental patterns. We will concentrate on which thoughts arise, and give them ample observation before saying goodbye and detaching from them.

Thank you for joining me for today's meditation session.

In this meditation,

We are going to be consciously choosing our state of mind.

Oftentimes,

We perceive that we are at the mercy of the way that we feel,

And one of the most powerful things to recognize is that we can generate whatever emotions or whatever feelings or whatever state of being we want to experience more of from inside ourselves.

So this meditation will serve as a small exercise of that practice.

Whenever you are ready,

You can find a comfortable position,

Something alert but relaxing and comfortable,

And just begin to soften and relax your body and get your breath into a natural rhythm.

You can soften your gaze,

Perhaps relaxing your eyes and looking forward or downward,

Or if possible,

Closing your eyes can be best for tuning in.

Taking two to three deep breaths in and long extended exhales to start this meditation and relax our body and our physiology into a calm state.

And to get started on this practice and to start this meditation,

Let's choose a positive feeling or emotion that we will make,

That we will use as our anchor to generate more of.

Perhaps this is happiness,

Perhaps this is self-love,

Perhaps this is gratitude.

Begin by attentively visualizing an experience either in your imagination or remembering something that has already happened in your life that evokes that same emotion.

That could be gratitude,

A moment that made you feel grateful or a moment that made you feel really happy and brought about a lot of joy.

Let's bring ourselves into that moment and relive that experience,

Paying close attention to the feelings within the body and the mind,

Identifying them,

Noticing them,

And amplifying them,

Choosing those feelings,

Choosing happiness,

Choosing gratitude.

And for the next few minutes,

Let's simply generate more of those emotions.

We now know how they feel,

We now know what kind of experience may have brought them about,

And we can choose to live in an unconditional way where we don't need something to occur to experience more of them.

You may have heard the term the neurons that fire together wire together.

That is the principle we are following here.

We are going to lock in those neural pathways of happiness and gratitude by practicing them.

Just simply focus on those feelings and that is all.

No need to analyze them,

No need to overthink them.

Just simply bring yourself into that state and rest there for as long as you can.

If a distraction does arise,

As always acknowledge it.

In a mental way you can say thank you but I'm going to bring myself back into this meditation and back into this feeling.

Whenever you are ready to close your practice,

Simply bring yourself back into the room but feel free to relax in this state as long as you feel.
