Body Scan for Grounding & Appreciation
by Shel Patton
Offer yourself a moment to draw inward and become grounded by scanning the body. Notice what is without judgement or labels, and offer appreciation to your body for all it has done and all it will do for you. Recommended to practice while lying down for optimal grounding.

You you Allow your body to settle and melt into the earth Into the props that might be beneath you And as you settle in Allow your awareness to land on the places your body connects to the earth The props or whatever is beneath you And as you Allow your awareness to settle onto these points of contact Can you grant yourself permission to sink a little heavier into These places And allow your awareness to move to your breath At first noticing maybe the sound or the texture of your breath And then letting your awareness land more on the sensations of your breath Maybe the rise and fall of your belly or your chest Maybe the expansion of your ribs is what you notice And this practice is more about Noticing your physical body Noticing the sensations contained within the physical body Even maybe the emotions contained within it And maybe the emotions contained within it Bring your awareness to the thumb of your right hand Not really seeking out anything in particular But rather Just noticing whatever is present at the thumb of your right hand Then shift your awareness to the index finger or the pointer finger of your right hand and notice Whatever is there Not trying to change anything Just simply noticing whatever is present Then bring your awareness to the middle finger of your right hand Becoming aware of what is in your middle finger And slowly taking your awareness to the ring finger The third finger of your right hand And again paying attention to whatever is there without judgement Draw your attention to the little finger,
