There are many times in our lives when everything seems to be crumbling. Many of these times can feel so very unsettling and quite bewildering. The goal of this meditation is to bring you to the present moment. It is to give you a sense of calm, focus, and certainty. The breath and heartbeat are constants so long as we live. Let these be your guide in this journey to finding solid ground again. With love, Sylvie.

When things feel uncertain,

And nothing feels familiar,

It's easy for the mind to start wandering into places where it feels that fear,

All the what-if scenarios,

Causing a ripple effect in your physical body and not in your stomach,

Sweaty palms,

Shortness of breath,

Clenching of muscles,

And any number of symptoms that way.

I want you to know that it's okay,

That it's normal.

This reaction is simply an indicator.

Take a look at it like a barometer.

So if you found yourself in a deep place of physical manifestation of your symptoms,

It's time to take some time away to pause and refocus.

The mind can only focus on one thought at a time,

And that brings you to the present moment,

Keeping your mind from going too far into the distant future.

One of the best things that you can do for yourself in this moment right now is just be here,

With all of the feelings that are passing you through.

Place one hand to your heart,

And just notice the way it feels,

The way it beats in a steady rhythm.

Notice how each breath,

Either slow or quick,

Has an impact on the rate of your heart.

Your heart beats in response to your breath.

Your heart beats to indicate life,

Life force energy.

You are healthy.

You are well in this moment,

Right here and right now.

Start to notice if you can,

Your breathing.

Breathing in through the nose and out through the nose as well.

Playing with the idea of lengthening each part of the breath,

Both on the inhale and on the exhale.

Being here right now in this moment can feel very vulnerable and a little uncomfortable,

And that's okay.

Just know that you can always come back to this place of slowing down,

Of being mindful,

And of awareness to your breath and to your heartbeat.

Though chaos may be happening around you,

Or things may not seem normal or predictable or the same,

Just know that you have the ability to go through this period of uncertainty.

Taking a few moments to pause and refocus will be an extremely valuable practice,

Especially if you make time for it in a regular way.

Just know that this is a part of your day and a part of your world that is predictable,

That does remain the same,

That you ultimately have control over.

The feeling of loss of control can feel a little bit like you're spinning,

Ungrounded,

And unfocused,

But coming back to the breath and the sensation of your heart beating under your hand is enough,

And extremely powerful.

I'll encourage you to spend some time here,

Noticing your breath,

Noticing your heartbeat,

And allowing relaxation to come through.

The next few moments will be in complete silence with just the sound of the soft music in the background.

It's for you to integrate the sensation of calm,

For you to be able to carry this forward into the rest of your day.

Wherever you are,

You are well,

You are here,

All is well.
