This 10-minute guided meditation is an alternative to the first Attitude Adjustment Moment. It is so nice to receive feedback from listeners. I have changed the background music to a quieter, slower tempo. The content is mostly the same. It's meant as a way to be accountable for the attitude we bring to our work. It's a good way to check in and see if we are that co-worker we want to work with.

Perhaps you've seen the bumper sticker,

Attitude is everything.

While this could be debated,

There is wisdom contained within those three words,

Especially when it comes to handling stress on the job.

Let us begin to take the necessary steps to shift our attitude and bring greater energy and happiness to our workday.

To be clear,

We will focus on our attitude,

The only one we have the power to change.

Begin by affirming that you choose to participate in this meditation.

Acknowledge you are committed to being present in the next few minutes and that you are fully present as you do so.

In order to be fully present,

Let us begin by closing our eyes and taking a breath.

Simple and easy,

Breathing in and breathing out.

As you breathe,

Take a moment to notice your body and take any steps necessary to feel more comfortable.

Shift or move until your body feels fully supported.

If you notice any soreness or tightness,

Take the next few breaths and simply allow the tension to dissipate on the out-breath as much as possible.

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

Relaxing your muscles.

Unwinding from this day.

Now,

Take a moment to check in with your thoughts.

Notice if you are present to this moment or if you are still mulling over events or issues from earlier in the day or that will be coming up.

In the next few breaths,

Simply suspend those thoughts.

Bring your attention back to your breathing.

In and out.

In and out.

In.

Out.

And now let us begin to focus on the quality of energy and presence you bring to your work,

To your teammates,

To your clients.

Let yourself be fully honest with your next breath.

Are you bringing an attitude that invites others to be in the same space with you?

Are you offering your best self to your team?

Are you showing others by your actions that you care about the work you are doing?

Is your overall presence an inviting positive one?

Or might others want to avoid you due to a heaviness or perhaps even a negative vibe?

Be honest.

No one else knows your response.

Only you.

If you are able to assess that you do bring a quality of vitality and lightness to the team,

Take this next breath to give yourself a high five.

Continue what you have been doing.

However,

If you find you are struggling to be a positive presence at work,

And if work is a struggle,

Then listen carefully as you follow along.

There may be many reasons your attitude needs adjusting.

Getting to the root may take longer than the time spent in this meditation.

You may be able to prepare to work continuously after this meditation ends and for some time to come.

But for now,

Acknowledge you are here to begin your attitude adjustment.

Choose to stop,

Perhaps blaming others or the situation,

And choose instead to focus on the power within.

You choose to see with a new perspective.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Imagine your attitude is a lump of clay you are holding in your hands.

You,

In this moment,

Are free to mold it into an attitude you can be proud of.

With each breath,

Shape this lump of less than supportive attitude into one of cooperation and kindness.

With each breath,

Consciously add the qualities you admire and others' attitudes and shape your own to reflect these more supportive qualities.

Breathing in,

Breathing out,

Molding and shaping your attitude.

An attitude makeover,

If you will.

Take a moment now to admire your handiwork before placing your new attitude into your body.

And now,

Gently place your newly crafted attitude within.

Take a moment to sense the difference.

Feel perhaps a lightness and a sense of possibility as you prepare to go forward.

And now,

As you begin to open your eyes,

Smile as you imagine the differences you can make to your team and to your clients.

Eyes open,

Take one more deep cleansing breath,

Returning fully to the space and to now.

Ready and excited to take your newly formed attitude out into the world and shine it and share it with all that you encounter.
