Hi,

My name is Vicki.

It's such a pleasure to be here with you today.

Like you,

I am very busy.

I own an agency.

I manage my day-to-day life as best I can.

And a friend of mine recently was talking with me about meditation.

And she was saying that she just isn't able to meditate.

Her mind goes so fast.

I understand I've been there.

So I thought today I'd share a couple of thoughts with you that helped me as I was beginning my meditation journey many years ago.

First sit or lie down in a comfortable position.

And begin to just notice your surroundings.

Are you warm or cold?

Do you feel the air around you?

Notice the sensations on your body,

Your clothing,

Your blankets,

Your bed,

Or the chair you're sitting in.

Just awareness.

Become aware of your breath.

Notice that you don't have to force it.

It just naturally occurs.

Become aware of your chest rising and falling.

The breath going in and out.

When we have the opportunity to give our mind a break,

A break from the worries,

A break from the to-do list of the day,

A break from planning out things in our mind or reliving conversations that have happened.

When we give our mind a break,

It allows space.

And in that space,

You have the opportunity to create.

So let's take this very short journey this morning to create.

As you notice your breath going in and out.

You don't have to force it.

There is no right way.

Just allow your body to relax.

Relax your legs and your arms.

Relax your neck.

Relax your jaw.

You want to close your eyes and just be in the stillness.

It's very natural for your mind to wonder.

When you catch your mind wondering,

Just come back and put your attention on the breath going in and out.

One thing that helped me when I first started meditating is I would count.

Breathe in.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

And breathe out.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Sometimes when we have a very busy mind,

That simple act of counting your in-breaths and your out-breaths will help put your attention on something that allows your mind to be present.

As you continue this practice of just breathing in and breathing out,

Let's let go of the to-do list of the day.

Keep our eyes closed.

Let's let go of what happened yesterday or conversations.

And especially let's let go of your own inner critic.

Just know that you are a miracle.

Your body knows exactly what to do.

You don't have to tell it or guide it or help it.

Your body knows how to heal a wound when you get scratched or even break something.

Your body knows how to move forward emotionally.

Your body knows how to digest food.

Your body knows how to move blood to all of your organs and every place it's needed.

Your body knows how to breathe.

So just relax.

Your body knows how to heal and naturally get rid of things that are not needed.

So just take this time to relax,

Breathing in,

Breathing out.

As you begin to find this place in the darkness with your eyes closed,

With your attention on your breath,

You begin to create an opportunity to think about your life,

Your love,

Your work,

Your purpose,

Your health.

Just think about one thing.

Think about one topic that you would like to create in your life.

For me,

Mindfulness is a moment and I can come back to it at any moment during the day.

I can have the thoughts about what I want to create and really feel how it feels to have created.

What does it feel like?

What does it look like?

When this is accomplished,

So to speak,

You have a feeling of excitement,

Joy,

Peace.

You feel relieved.

You feel grateful.

When we sit in these feelings of love and joy,

Peace and gratitude,

This is the place that we get to create from.

So even if you are a type A personality or if you have a very busy mind,

Taking five or ten minutes,

Just put thoughts and feeling into what you want to create.

One thing at a time.

How does it feel when you're healthy?

How relieved are you when you're financially abundant?

How excited are you when you're surrounded by loved ones and everyone is having fun and happy?

How much love do you feel in your heart when you are waking up with a person that is your soulmate and love of your life?

Whatever it is for you,

How does it feel when you're working with purpose?

What's that feeling of peace,

Joy,

Gratitude,

Calm,

Excitement?

Whatever it is for you,

Again,

There's no right way.

It's just taking that time,

Even moments,

Mindful moments of stopping the chatter,

Turning off the replay of something that's happened in the past and beginning to create what you want in your day,

In your week,

In your month,

And in your life.

I'm so grateful to have done this time with you.

Namaste.
