This short meditation offers you a time in,
A moment to connect with yourself,
Your breath,
Your body and this precious present moment.
It offers a small space or pattern interrupt in which we can find calm and clarity.
It's from this space that we can move back into our day carrying a deeper sense of peace and connection.
So when you are ready,
Make yourself comfortable either sitting or lying down.
You can close your eyes or soften the gaze.
Start to become aware of your breathing.
You don't need to alter the breath in any way,
Just try to witness the natural process without becoming involved.
Know that you breathe every moment of the day without your awareness and now you are just being a witness to the natural spontaneous breath.
Each breath giving the body just what it needs in that moment.
As you breathe,
Begin to repeat to yourself mentally,
Breathe in,
Relax,
Breathe out,
Release,
Breathe in,
Relax,
Breathe out,
Release.
Following the natural breath,
Breathe in,
Relax,
Breathe out,
Release.
You may like to just repeat relax and release as you breathe.
Do whatever is most comfortable for you.
Relax,
Release,
Relax,
Release,
Allowing the words to follow your breath.
So the breath doesn't alter in any way,
But the words colour your breathing.
Relax,
Release.
As you witness the breath and repeat the words,
Relax and release.
Feel your body starting to respond by relaxing,
Releasing and softening.
As this happens,
You may also feel the breath naturally beginning to slow down.
Just allow this to happen.
Witness the slowing down and just keep repeating.
Relax,
Release,
Relax as you breathe in,
Release as you breathe out.
Keep going and if the mind wanders off,
Just simply bring it back to the breath and the words relax and release and the softening of your body.
Continue with the practice for a few more moments.
Release,
Release,
Release,
Release.
Relax,
Release.
Relax,
Release.
Relax,
Release.
Relax,
Release.
Relax,
Release.
And when you are ready,
You can stop repeating the words relax and release.
You can come back to your body and to the room you are in.
You can deepen the breath,
Reawaken yourself and as you move back into your day,
Take with you some of the peace and softness from this practice.
Namaste.
