In this session we will contemplate what it would mean to ask for what you want in life. The session will begin with a guided relaxation meditation, into brief priming that will open your mind up for contemplation. From there you will be offered a question to consider. We will then discuss the implications and then contemplate it once more.

Hello and welcome to the session,

I invite you to take a seat or lay down and get yourself comfortable and close down the eyes if you wish and take three slow deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Just draw your attention to the sensations you can feel with your body,

Notice any points of tension or conflict or blockages,

Just gently direct your breath and some visual healing energy into that space,

Some radiant beautiful healing light,

Whatever that looks like to you,

Entering those spaces of tension,

Take a deep slow breath in through your nose and out through your mouth,

Just gently let any tension in your body fall away,

Unclench your jaw,

Drop your shoulders,

Relax your belly and your buttocks and your groin and just allow your body to fall into a place of calmness and safety,

If you notice any points of tension,

Breathe into those spaces,

Send some healing light there and allow those spaces to let go,

Inquire of them,

Do they have something to tell you,

Is there something they need to say before they can move on,

Before they can release,

If so take a moment to allow those parts of your body to speak,

Just listen and accept and thank that part of your body and let it know that it's now safe,

That it's done its job and that it can relax,

Just take another slow deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth,

Just allow your full body to relax even more and draw your attention to your mind,

We're going to open our minds up to possibility,

To potential,

To purpose,

I'm going to call upon the universe or God or our intuition or the muse or our ancestors,

The place or space that we draw our power from,

We're going to open ourselves up to that place,

Allowing our minds to be subtle,

To be flexible,

To be free,

Because in a moment I'm going to ask you a question twice and then we're just going to sit in contemplation of that question,

Allowing it to open and unfold however it likes,

Just observing those responses,

Not directing it,

Not trying to change it,

Just allowing it to unfold,

Am I willing to ask for what I want in life,

Am I willing to ask for what I want in life,

So this question,

Am I willing to ask what I want in life,

Forces us to consider a few things,

Can I ask for what I want,

Do I know what I want and am I capable of receiving it,

If I was to ask and it was to come,

It makes me feel like I need to better understand myself,

Because what do I truly actually want in my life right now,

You know instantly thoughts of material possessions,

Money,

Stuff pops into my mind,

Opportunities,

Successes in different aspects of my life,

I you know quote-unquote want those things,

But do I really truly want those things or is that wanting representative of me wanting to run from other things,

From fears,

Do I want money because I want it or because I'm afraid of losing what I have,

Because I'm concerned about the bills,

Do I want a new car because I truly want the new car or because I want to fit in or because my old car is inefficient,

You know what's the reason behind these superficial wants and is there something deeper,

When I consider what I want from life,

Really what I want is a stable and and calm and flexible mental state,

I want a connection with family and friends,

I want the freedom to pursue my hobbies,

To be able to engage with my art,

To be able to play,

I want to be healthy,

I want to be happy and obviously happiness is an interesting concept because when I say happiness I'm not talking about always being up,

I'm more talking about contentment,

Being okay with how things are,

Satiated,

Accepting,

I want a mind that can do that,

So with that new concept and content of what I want is,

Am I willing to ask for what I want in life,

What would it even mean to ask,

Because just saying this right now and voicing it has provided me with a bit of a redefinition of what I want from life,

You know I want that calmness,

That clarity,

That focus,

That contentment,

I want peace of mind,

Am I willing to ask for it,

Well that requires a lot of self-assurance doesn't it,

It requires me to believe in myself,

Believe in myself worthy of having such a life,

Do I believe that and if not what can I do to get that self-belief,

Because if I don't take steps to get that self-belief I will never be truly happy in this life,

So whether or not I'm able to ask for it,

Well I need to take those steps towards moving into that space,

First to know what I want,

Then to be able to ask for what I want,

Then to be able to accept it,

Am I willing to ask for what I want in my life,

What does that mean,

Does it mean that I will have to take different steps,

I will have to let go of certain people,

Let go of certain things within myself,

Am I willing to ask myself for what I want in life,

You know can I give up the superfluous things,

The distractions,

The temptations to be truly happy,

You know will scrolling social media bring me happiness,

Will watching that next video bring me happiness,

Listening to another podcast,

You know consuming substances or sugar,

Avoiding,

Will any of that actually bring me happiness,

What will truly bring me happiness and am I willing to do what's needed to be done to get that,

Am I willing to instill the habits in my life to enable me to be truly happy,

What would that even mean,

What would that look like,

Can I even do that,

This question is evoking some big things,

Unless I was to ask for what I want in life from other people,

What do I do if they can't come to the party,

What do I do if I've evaluated it and looked at it and then go oh these people can't actually give me what I need or what I want right now,

Am I able to move on,

To let go or to express and explain myself more,

What do I need to be and who do I need to be to be able to get what I want from this life,

Because this question is also hinting at the possibility or the idea or you know the actuality rather that life will end,

What does it mean for life to end when I haven't gotten what I want from it,

Interesting and the final point that I would like to address with this question is a matter of worth,

Do I feel worthy of getting what I want or should I just accept my lot as it is,

But straight away I just I can't,

I can't just accept mundanity,

Unhappiness,

A comfortable rut or an uncomfortable rut rather,

I can't just accept without trying to make a difference,

To trying to make a change in my life and in this world for positivity,

For purpose,

For connection,

For growth,

It seems vital that I do so,

So I ask you are you willing to ask for what you want in life,

Are you willing to ask for what you want in life,

Let's sit and contemplate this question for a little bit more,

So how did you go,

I want to suggest that if you liked this session you might want to check out my courses discover your divine truth and questions to heal your soul here on insight timer,
