Hello beautiful souls,

I'm Ellie,

Founder of Awakening Inner Light,

Yoga teacher,

Energy healer and transformational guide based in Ubud,

Bali.

Before walking this path I was much like many of my clients today,

Successful on the outside,

Exhausted on the inside.

I had climbed the corporate ladder from business analyst to managing over a hundred people.

I was driven,

Focused and always chasing the next goal.

But despite the achievements,

Something inside me felt tight.

My body was tense,

My mind always racing and my heart quietly whispering that there had to be more to life than constant effort and striving.

That whisper eventually became a wake-up call.

After my second burnout I knew something had to change.

That's when I turned inward,

Exploring yoga,

Energy healing and embodiment.

Not just to manage stress but to truly listen to what my body had been trying to tell me all along.

And that's where I discovered Myofascial Release Yoga,

A practice that completely changed how I relate to my body,

My emotions and my life.

So what is Myofascial Release Yoga?

You may wonder.

Myofascial Release Yoga is a slow,

Mindful and deeply therapeutic practice that focuses on releasing tension and blockages in the fascia,

The connective tissue that wraps around every muscle,

Bone,

Organ and nerve in your body.

Imagine fascia as a web that holds everything together,

Supporting your posture and influencing how freely your body moves and how energy flows through it.

When fascia is healthy,

It's fluid and elastic.

But when we live in chronic stress,

Sit for long hours or suppress emotions,

Fascia tightens.

It's as if your body is wearing an invisible suit that's just a size too small,

Restricting movement,

Breath and even emotional flow.

Through gentle and mindful movements and targeted pressure,

Using a ball or block paired with deep breath awareness,

Myofascial Release Yoga helps melt away these restrictions,

Layer by layer,

Restoring space,

Flow and freedom inside your body.

The pressure is gently controlled by your own body weight and positioning,

Making this method accessible for every body.

Within just 30 to 60 seconds,

Our bodies hold memories.

Every experience,

Stress,

Heartbreaks,

Pressure,

Leaves a trace.

If we don't release these traces consciously,

They accumulate as tension,

Blockages or chronic pain.

So when we practice Myofascial Release Yoga,

We're not just stretching,

We're listening,

Giving the body space to speak its native language,

Sensation.

And when we listen with presence,

The body begins to release.

Sometimes it's a sigh,

Sometimes it's tears,

Sometimes it's a deeper calm,

As if your system finally exhales after years of holding on.

The benefits of Myofascial Release Yoga?

This practice works on multiple levels.

Here's what many of my students experience.

Physical release.

Tension in the neck,

Shoulders,

Hips and back melts away.

The slow pace in conscious breathing soothe your overstimulated system,

Easing anxiety and improving sleep.

Your body shifts from survival mode to restoration mode.

Stored emotions gently surface and dissolve,

Clarity and inner joy.

Energetic flow.

As the fascia opens,

Life force or prana moves more freely through your system,

Awakening vitality and aliveness and increasing your healing capacity.

It becomes a meditative journey where your inner and outer worlds realign.

It's not about performance,

It's about presence.

How to practice Myofascial Release Yoga?

You don't need to be flexible,

You don't need experience,

You only need curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

Here are a few simple guidelines for your own practice.

One,

Create space and stillness.

Find a quiet spot,

Dim the lights,

Put away distractions,

Give yourself permission to slow down.

Two,

Do a body scan.

Notice areas of tension or numbness,

That's where your attention is needed.

Three,

Use gentle pressure.

Explore with curiosity,

Applying only as much body weight as feels right.

Stay kind to yourself.

Four,

Move slowly and stay longer.

Stay in an area for at least a minute.

The fascia needs time to soften.

The goal is not intensity,

It's awareness.

Five,

Breathe gently.

Inhale through the nose,

Exhale through the mouth.

Let your breath be the bridge between tension and release.

Six,

Support yourself.

Use props or cushions so your body feels safe and relaxed.

Seven,

Feel.

Don't force.

Each subtle shift is communication from your body.

You are learning to listen again.

My personal journey began with pain,

Both emotional and physical.

Years ago my dentist told me I was clenching my jaw,

So intensely it was damaging my teeth.

He prescribed a night guard,

But I knew I needed to address the root cause,

Not just the symptom.

At 18,

I'd suffered a sports injury to my right knee that never fully healed.

Many years later,

Or decades,

During my yin yoga teacher training,

The pain still flared up.

Some days,

Even walking down the stairs was a challenge,

So not how I wanted to age.

The training introduced me to myofascial release and something clicked.

I went on to complete a full certification and everything started to make sense.

I discovered how the fascia of the jaw connects down through the neck,

Shoulder,

Spine,

Hips,

And into the legs.

My body had built compensation patterns over the years to avoid knee pain,

Creating imbalances all the way up to my jaw.

Through regular practice,

Rolling,

Pressing,

Stretching,

Relaxing,

I healed not just my knee,

But my whole body pattern.

I stopped clenching my jaw.

I stopped needing the night guard.

My posture,

Mobility,

And energy transformed.

Even more powerful was what happened emotionally.

As I released physical tension,

I released years of frustration,

Control,

Fear,

Anger.

My knee healed both physically and energetically.

And with that,

I could return to something I love deeply,

Ecstatic dance.

I now dance freely,

Joyfully,

Fully present in my body.

Myofascial release yoga remains one of my most trusted self-care tools and one I wish everyone could experience.

If I could suggest one place to start,

It would be this.

Roll out the soles of your feet every day.

Your body will guide you from there.

For the high achiever,

The thinker,

The doer,

If you recognize yourself here,

If you wake up with tension,

Chronic pain,

Or that feeling of being stuck,

Then this practice is for you.

Myofascial release yoga is the medicine for the modern,

High-performing lifestyle.

It invites your nervous system to rest.

It teaches your body that it's safe to let go.

It reconnects you with your intuitive wisdom,

The kind of clarity that isn't thought but felt.

You don't need to push harder.

You need to soften consciously,

Intelligently,

And with compassion.

That's where real strength begins.
