This short practice is designed for tired mums (like myself) who may only have 5 minutes to practice meditation. You can make just a few minutes really count by tuning into your breath, allowing your mind to settle and nervous system to calm. I hope you can use this practice to fill up your cup with whatever you may need - resilience, rest, joy or love.

Welcome to a meditation for tired mums.

Let's get ready for this short practice by softening the shoulders,

Find a comfortable seat and if it feels okay closing down the eyes.

Welcoming yourself to this little moment in time that's just for you.

This is probably the first time today you've had a chance to just slow down,

To be,

To breathe.

So however your day's been and whatever's coming up just make these few minutes really count.

And to do that we're going to tune into our breath as it naturally flows in and out through the nostrils.

Taking a few breaths just to arrive and see if you can soften,

Soften the body,

Let go of any tension you might be holding especially around the jaw.

And then starting to tune into our senses.

Start to hear all the different sounds around you.

How many different sounds can you hear in the distance?

And it's important here to just notice the sounds.

We don't need to label them good or bad,

They're all just sound.

And then bringing your awareness of sound closer to you in the room that you're in until you can hear that whisper of your breath.

And with each breath we allow our mind to settle,

Calm our nervous system and most importantly we can just arrive in the present moment and just be.

Nothing else to do right now.

And this is a beautiful time to really top up your cup and let's imagine that there is an empty cup beside you.

And whatever you might be missing,

Whatever you feel you need,

We're going to add that into the cup.

And this might be resilience or patience,

More love or joy,

Whatever it is that you might like more of,

Just imagine with each breath that we can add a little bit of that into the cup.

So as we inhale,

Take a nice deep breath in and as we exhale just imagining that cup is starting to fill up with whatever you might be needing.

It can be a combination of things.

Just taking five or six more breaths here,

Adding to the cup whatever you would like,

Whatever you need.

And when you're finished,

When that cup feels full,

You can gently wriggle the fingers and the toes,

Open your eyes and as you continue with your day,

Take that cup with you and remember that you've got everything that you need and more.

Wishing you a beautiful day.

Thank you for practicing with me.

Bye.
