New to meditation? Unsure where to start? This gentle, no-pressure practice is for you. Whether you’re fidgety, overthinking, or hiding in the bathroom for five quiet minutes, you’re not doing it wrong. In this beginner-friendly meditation, we’ll throw out the idea of “doing it perfectly” and just focus on one simple thing: showing up. Expect tender guidance, a few deep breaths, and affirmations to remind you that even the not-so-darling parts of you are worthy of peace. No fancy postures, no silence required — just a moment to meet yourself as you are. Because beginnings don’t need to be graceful — they just need to be yours.

This meditation is for beginners,

For anyone new to meditation,

Unsure,

Curious,

Or just learning how to slow down.

Hey darling,

If sitting still feels hard,

You're not alone.

Maybe your legs get restless,

Your brain kicks in to overdrive,

Or you start thinking about what you should be doing instead.

That doesn't mean you're bad at this.

It just means you're human.

You don't have to sit still like a statue.

You don't have to silent your thoughts.

You just have to show up.

So whether you're sitting,

Lying down,

Pacing the kitchen,

Or hiding in the bathroom for five quick minutes,

Welcome darling.

You're in the right place.

Maybe this is your first time meditating.

Maybe you've tried it before and thought,

My mind is way too busy for this.

That's okay.

You're not doing it wrong.

There's no perfect way to meditate.

You don't have to sit a certain way.

You don't even have to feel calm.

Not yet.

Just breathe.

That's it.

That's enough.

Now I ask you to close your eyes or find a gentle gaze.

And then simply notice your breath.

You're not changing it.

You're just noticing.

Can you feel it in your nose?

In your chest?

In your belly?

Now let's take a gentle inhale through your nose.

Then exhale slowly through your mouth.

Let's do that again.

Inhale.

Let your breath return to its natural rhythm.

There's nothing else you need to do right now.

If your mind wanders,

That's okay.

It's what minds do.

When you notice it,

Just label it thinking.

And gently return to your breath.

And if your body feels a little fidgety,

That's okay too.

You don't have to sit still the whole time.

You might need to stretch,

Shift,

Or wiggle.

Don't let it distract you,

Darling.

And then just notice it and let it be.

Stillness might not come easy at first,

But give it time.

The more you practice,

The easier it gets.

Not because your thoughts stop,

But because you stop believing every single one of them.

You stop fighting yourself and start coming home to yourself.

You don't need to be perfect to feel peace.

And darling,

Showing up for yourself is the practice.

Now if it feels right,

Repeat these affirmations in your mind like quiet little reminders to your soul.

I am allowed to begin again.

My breath is always here for me.

Peace is something I can practice,

Not perfect.

Even the not-so-darling parts of me are worthy of love.

I don't have to fix myself to care for myself.

Let those words land not just in your head,

But in your heart.

Let's take one final deep breath in and slowly exhale out.

Bringing ourselves back into the space we began by wiggling our fingers and our toes and when you're ready,

Gently opening your eyes if they were closed.

Just notice how you feel without pressure or expectations.

Maybe a little lighter,

Maybe still messy,

But a little more okay with that.

You did this for you.

And darling,

That matters.

That counts.

We so often forget how sacred it is to begin,

But beginnings are a blessing.

A doorway,

Not a deadline.

Think of this moment as the start of a new middle chapter,

One where you don't abandon yourself anymore.

So take this with you,

Softly and perfectly and fully yours.
