Welcome to Cultivate Your Wellness.
My name is Laura.
Today we are going to practice exploring the space between the thoughts.
I've heard many students talk about not being able to shut off their brain.
There are too many thoughts running through the mind.
They have a desire to be free from thought.
The truth is,
Unless you are dedicating the majority of your time to meditation,
The thoughts are going to be there.
The mind is going to wander.
You'll have a moment of quiet,
And then there's a thought.
There's another one.
The thoughts are like leaves floating down a river in the forest in autumn.
They just keep coming.
One will grab our attention and take us along with it on its journey.
The practice is not about stopping the thoughts from coming.
The practice is learning to acknowledge them and allowing them to continue to float by without you.
Returning to the space between the thoughts.
Even if it's just for a second.
A peaceful,
Quiet,
Fragile second.
And maybe that's all it is.
And then another thought floats by.
And we see it.
We let it pass.
And we return to the space.
Maybe just for one additional second.
We keep coming back to the space between the thoughts.
Maybe we find the breath there.
Maybe we explore other sensations,
Visuals,
Scents,
Physical feelings in the body.
And practice lingering there.
Without judgment.
Without the commentary.
Just being.
Just exploring.
Just lingering.
I invite you now to begin this practice.
Closing the eyes if it feels okay for you.
Taking in the breath.
Bringing some length to the spine.
Some expansion to your chest.
Letting the breath out.
Relaxing the body.
Feeling grounded in your seat.
Connecting deeper with the breath.
The inhale.
And the exhale.
Releasing into the present moment.
Letting go.
Feeling a sense of ease and tranquility.
A sense of connection to your true being.
The one that is beyond the body.
Beyond the mind.
Beyond the doing.
The one that just is.
The one that resides in the space between the thoughts.
In the stillness.
I'll give you a few more minutes to explore this space on your own.
If your mind begins to wander,
That's okay.
You always have the one who is truly you to guide you.
The one who is connected to the breath.
To all the energy in the universe.
The one who resides in the space between the thoughts.
Return there again and again.
Into stillness.
Begin to deepen your breath.
Bringing your awareness back to your body.
Back to the space around you.
And when you're ready,
Opening your eyes.
Thank you as always for taking the time to meditate with me.
I am in awe of you and your willingness to cultivate your truest sense of being.
My name is Laura and I hope you have a beautiful rest of your day.
Bye for now.
