Welcome to a very special episode of Meditations with Desi.
This episode,
We are going to connect with our inner child and bring that baby some healing.
The more I heal my inner child,
The more creative I become.
The more I get what I need as an adult,
The more I'm able to say what it is that I need.
Healing your inner child also helps clarify patterns in your life,
Contextualize your struggles,
And reveal some of your deepest needs and desires.
Before we enter this meditation,
I want you to know that healing your inner child requires honesty.
That child,
That baby version of you deserves nothing but the gentle loving truth.
So before we dive in,
Let's just check in with ourselves.
Start by asking yourself and answer honestly,
How do I feel right now?
Are you feeling tired,
Weary,
Disconnected,
Angry,
Happy,
Curious?
Figure out what emotion is present and name it quietly to yourself.
I want you to take some deep breaths in,
Letting your awareness of your emotions expand.
Feel them fully.
Be honest with yourself.
What is behind this emotion that you're feeling?
What has you feeling this way?
I also want you to acknowledge the things that are influencing you right now without any judgment.
Just acknowledge.
I want you to address these emotions that are flowing through your body directly and gently tell it,
You have space to exist here.
You can stay and be processed.
I don't have to feel or be perfect to meet my inner child today.
I just have to be honest about where I am.
Now,
Let's take some deep breaths together.
Inhale deeply for 4,
3,
2,
1.
Now,
Exhale for 6,
5,
4,
3,
2,
1.
Let's do that again.
Breathing in for 1,
2,
3,
4.
Now,
Exhale for 6,
5,
4,
As you breathe,
Allow your body to continue to soften.
Sink into whatever you're sitting in.
Be fully present with yourself in this moment.
I want you to begin to visualize a three-year-old version of yourself.
This version of you just had their birthday party.
Today,
They turn three years old.
I want you to picture that birthday party.
You were there.
All of your favorite childhood foods were there being served.
What were those foods?
No matter how unique they were,
If it was your favorite as a kid,
Imagine that it was served at this birthday party.
This is your celebration.
Imagine that your favorite songs are playing in the background.
No matter when they came out,
Yesterday or 60 years ago,
They made their way to celebrate you at your birthday party.
Picture these songs playing.
Remember the emotions that these songs bring.
Now,
Picture yourself dancing with the three-year-old version of yourself.
Both of you,
A little wobbly,
A little clumsy,
But completely joyful,
Completely free,
Dancing like nobody is watching.
Just enjoying each other's presence.
I want you to imagine the people that showed up to this party.
Imagine the safest people that exist in your life,
That you've seen on TV,
Anybody that makes you feel safe.
Imagine them there,
All those that love you deeply.
It doesn't matter when they came into your life.
If they feel safe,
They are there.
I want you to take in the joy that your inner child experienced in this celebration.
Soak in the dancing,
The food.
Imagine what the love must feel like in the room.
Lean into the safety that surrounds you and your inner child.
Watch that child have the time of their life.
You see yourself playing with some of your favorite childhood friends,
Some of your favorite childhood toys.
You even are wearing your favorite costume character.
You look so cool,
And it doesn't matter who else doesn't think so.
You can feel the joy radiating from this young version of you.
But you also see them yawning.
They're getting tired.
It's time for the party to wind down.
They had such a good day dancing,
Laughing,
Eating their favorite foods,
And spending time with the adult version of you that they are so proud of,
So enamored by.
But now it's time to rest.
I want you to picture yourself gently picking your inner child up into your arms.
Their little body relaxes against yours,
Feeling instantly at ease with you.
The two of you make your way back to the safest,
Most beautiful,
Imaginative version of your childhood bedroom you can think of.
Visualize this space.
Notice the walls of the room.
What color are they?
Or maybe there's wallpaper.
If so,
What does it look like?
I want you to visualize the toys neatly put up,
But still visible.
What toys would make your inner child feel safe?
What toys will make them excited to go to sleep?
Imagine the smells in the room.
Whatever scents you enjoy now or then.
Take your time and let every single detail fill in.
Notice the lighting.
It's soft.
This is your child's sanctuary.
A place filled with love and safety and all of your favorite things.
Now I want you to carry your inner child to a cozy bed that's been waiting just for them.
Imagine what the bed looks like.
Imagine the type of blankets,
Pillows,
Or stuffed animals that surround your inner child.
Tuck them in gently.
Tuck them in snug.
Make sure that they feel completely safe,
Completely comfortable and ready to go to sleep.
Adjust their pillows if you need to.
Make sure everything feels just right for them.
Picture them yawning,
Rubbing their eyes,
Fighting their sleep.
And repeat these words to your inner child.
I love you.
I'm so proud of you.
So many people love you,
Sweet baby.
And I want you to know I'll always be here for you,
Even when I don't feel perfect.
I say it again.
So many people love you,
Sweet baby.
And I will always be here for you,
Even when I don't feel perfect.
I trust the inner guidance,
The inner wisdom that comes with nurturing you.
I promise to make space for your creativity and to not judge your creative expression.
You notice yourself also yawning.
You're getting sleepy too.
But you have a few more words to say to your inner child.
You are teaching this baby the power of encouraging yourself.
You say to yourself,
Your light will shine brighter than you ever can imagine.
You will thrive in ways that you cannot dream.
You are aligned with God,
Especially in those moments when you realize that you have flaws.
You deserve to love every part of yourself,
Flaws and all.
So start practicing today.
You deserve to stand tall and I'll be here with you every step of the way.
Take a moment to say anything else your inner child needs to hear.
Maybe it's an affirmation,
A funny joke,
Or just a moment of connection.
But let's make space for you to say what you need to say to you.
I want you to picture yourself grabbing your hands and now you'll say a gentle nighttime prayer with your inner child.
God,
I thank you for this sweet child you've preserved in me.
Preserved through tough times and impossible odds.
May you continue to bless me with environments that make my inner child come alive.
Surround me with safe people who allow me to connect with the most authentic,
Innocent versions of myself.
Protect my connection into my inner child.
Renew my childlike faith.
Protect this inner child's ability to express,
To create,
To imagine,
To dream.
Thank you for your healing.
Thank you for bringing peace to this inner child.
Thank you for bringing justice to this inner child.
Thank you for bringing restoration to this inner child.
I thank you for the grace that you have provided me from my birth all the way up into this moment.
I thank you for the beautiful rest that will come from this healing,
That will come from these affirmations,
That will come from me speaking life and speaking word over myself.
You said that there is power in the tongue.
So I speak life in this moment.
I speak healing over my inner child.
I speak new thought patterns,
New behavior patterns,
New core beliefs,
Ones that reflect beauty,
That reflect grace,
That reflect new possibilities,
That reflect dreaming,
That reflect curiosity,
And that reflect trying again.
I thank you for all of this.
Amen.
You sit beside your inner child for one more moment.
You watch them drift off to sleep,
Their eyes close softly.
They begin to snore just a little.
It sounds like a kitten purring.
Now as you know your inner child is sleeping peacefully inside,
I want you to imagine yourself returning to your room,
The room that you're in now.
Without opening your eyes,
I want you to begin to recall the details of the room that you're in right now.
What's on your walls?
Pay attention to the scents lingering in the air.
Pay attention to your weight pressed against whatever surfaces you're leaning against or laying on.
This space,
This real space,
This physical space where you are now,
Holds you just as you just held your inner child.
Now,
Use the rest of this time to get comfortable,
To get into bed.
Get relaxed.
Let your shoulders drop.
Let your jaw soften and keep breathing deep until you fall asleep.
I thank you for showing up for yourself today.
I thank you for meeting your inner child with love,
Curiosity,
And care.
You've done beautiful,
Important,
Hard work.
You can revisit your inner child as often and as frequently as you need to.
Just go back and connect with those things that remind you of that time.
The foods,
The music,
The shows,
The feelings,
The emotions,
Those beautiful things that take you back to a simpler time and pour into those parts of you.
