Making Peace With Yourself

Transcript

Start by making yourself comfortable,

Either sitting or lying down,

Making sure that you feel safe,

That you won't be disturbed.

And just begin to bring your awareness softly to your breathing,

Reconnecting to your body.

So noticing how your breath expands and contracts,

Being present with yourself,

With your body.

Not trying to change anything,

Not judging anything,

Just being.

And let your awareness just gently travel down from the top of your head,

Down through behind the back of your eyes,

Down into your neck,

Carrying on down into your upper spine,

Your mid spine,

The hollow of your back,

The base of your spine,

Right down into your tailbone,

And sending your awareness right down through your legs,

And down into your feet.

So just mentally being aware of the whole of your body,

The house that you live in,

Holding the space for you,

Helping you inhabit this wonderful world.

And just let your awareness now softly drift so that you come into a bit more of a spacious sense around you,

Maybe just sensing the edges of your skin,

The surfaces of your skin,

Taking your attention just slightly outside the skin layer.

And this just helps to expand your body,

Your frequency,

So that you can discern things a little bit more easily.

And from this more expanded place I would like to invite you to bring your senses back to you as a mini version of you,

From the age of four or five,

To the child that you once were,

That has become the adult you now are.

And I invite you to revisit your young you with a real sense of love and compassion and gratitude for everything she has helped you become.

And just see her in your mind's eye,

You might be able to visualise her,

You might just have a sense of her energy,

We all sense things differently,

So go with whatever feels accessible for you.

And just imagine that you are surrounding your younger self with a circle of love,

Reassuring her that all is well,

Inviting her to come and say hello,

And maybe ask her if you can give her a hug.

And wait until she says yes,

And when she does,

Wrap her arms around your waist,

Wrap your arms around the whole of her body,

Squeeze her tightly and let her know she has done an amazing job for you.

She has prepared the way,

Held the space and kept you safe for all this time.

Let her know she's done an amazing job,

Reinforce she's done an amazing job,

But she doesn't have to do it anymore,

Let her know that you have new ways now of doing things,

She can let go and just exist in a happy state of being.

And just spend some time with her,

Talk to her,

Hear anything that she has to say to you,

Remember to breathe,

Remember that you are perfectly safe,

Perfectly held,

Perfectly supported,

For any time you start to feel any sense of anxiety or unease,

Just breathe.

You may like to invite your younger self to have a view of the world through your much older eyes.

If she says that's something that sounds quite exciting,

Because she's a child,

She'll be excited by that prospect,

Just invite her to come into your body from the left hand side,

Almost as though she's going to just sit inside your adult body like a Russian doll.

So if she is happy with this,

Imagine her just sitting there looking through your eyes from behind them,

To her eyes lined up with yours,

She's just feeling this incredible sense of wonder inhabiting this bigger,

Stronger,

Healthy,

Strong,

Beautiful body.

She notices that this sense of spirit and soul is still exactly the same as it always was,

It's just held in a bigger space,

A stronger body,

A body that's now more able to carry through her desires.

And again you can keep having a little dialogue going with her if you feel drawn to do so,

Noticing any messages she wants to give you,

Saving them so you can write them down later.

Let her just absorb the wonder of what you've become.

And now just invite her to step back outside so she can be in her own space again,

You're in your own space again.

And thank her for her presence,

Her wisdom.

And tell her that you will see her again another day,

You don't want to tire her out so you're going to head back now,

Knowing that you can meet up again in a few days time if you want to.

So smile at her,

Say goodbye,

Just for now.

Letting her know that there's plenty of time to work through anything else you might want to work through together.

Let her go,

Let her recede into the distance,

Come back to a sense of the skin,

The surface of the skin on your body.

Let your awareness sink deeper into the muscle layer under the skin,

And deeper still into the bone,

The dense bone of your body.

And that will just help ground you again,

Become aware of the room around you,

Of your breath.

And softly,

Gently bring your awareness more back into the present moment,

Into the room.

And in your own time gently bring yourself back to full awareness,

Taking care with yourself,

Opening your eyes very slowly when you feel ready,

Returning to yourself and returning to your day.

Keeping a sense of grounding,

Presence,

New awareness and a sense of knowing deep within you that all is well.
