This is a meditation to calm and soothe your entire nervous system.
Are we giving yourself and your body the time and space to completely restore your body?
Calming our nervous system and giving ourselves a neurological reset is one of the ways to calm all the other systems of our body.
We'll be soothing and calming the part of our nervous system responsible for resting,
Digestion and healing.
We'll be doing this to come out of the fight or flight state.
Once we nourish this part of our nervous system,
We can begin to open the gateway to healing our bodies.
See this meditation as putting money in your rest bank.
You're giving yourself the resources to move through your days with more energy and more vitality.
Most importantly,
By calming your nervous system,
You'll be strengthening your immune system.
This is a lying down meditation.
So begin by finding the space where you will be able to lie down and get really comfortable.
This might be your bed,
It might be a mat on the floor.
You can place a pillow underneath your head and you can have a bolster or blankets underneath your knees to ease your lower back.
Wherever you are,
Make sure you feel really comfortable and you're in a place where you can be in stillness for the duration of the meditation.
Wherever you are,
Envision that you're lying on the earth,
On mother earth.
Feel with each exhale your body getting heavier into the earth.
Feel held by mother earth as you lay on the ground.
You're going to begin by placing your left hand on your heart space and then place your right hand on your lower belly around your pelvis area.
This is the first way to calm your nervous system by using the power of your touch to soothe you.
Begin to feel the warmth from your hands on your body.
The second way to calm our nervous system is through awareness of breath.
So I'm going to ask you to take a few really deep breaths.
Begin by taking an inhale through your nose right down to your belly.
Feel your left hand raising as you fill your chest up with air and then feel your right hand raise as you fill your lower belly with air.
And then exhale out through your mouth slowly emptying all your breath.
Once again inhale through your nose right down to your belly and this time as you exhale,
Exhale as if you're breathing out through a straw.
So make a straw like shape with your lips and just exhale out through that straw.
Once again inhale through your nose right down to your belly feeling your left hand and your right hand raising as you breathe in and then exhale out through your nose emptying all your breath out.
And then just go at your own pace inhaling through your nose right down to your belly exhaling out through your straw emptying all your breath out.
On your next exhale I want you to feel as if you're really letting go letting go of anything that doesn't serve you any thoughts any heaviness and you're really letting that go into the earth beneath you.
Mother Earth can take anything and transmute it into unconditional love.
So breathing in and exhaling anything you don't need anymore down into the earth feeling your body getting heavier and heavier on the earth.
On your next exhale out I want you to let go of this breathing technique just come back to your very normal natural breathing rhythm.
You may feel more spacious within your lungs within your body.
Now I'm going to ask you to take your mental awareness to different parts of your body.
When I say a part of your body you're going to bring your awareness to that part and then you're going to let it go.
I want you to see your mental awareness as your loving energy from your heart.
You may feel sensations you may feel tension but just bringing your awareness there and your breath.
We'll start at your left foot so bringing your mental attention and your awareness to the whole of your left foot.
And then just letting that part of your body go into deep relaxation.
Just letting it go into the earth beneath you.
Then bringing your mental awareness and your attention to your left ankle filling that space up with your awareness and then just letting that part go.
Bringing your attention and your awareness to the whole of your left leg the whole of your left leg.
Setting that up with your loving energy your attention your awareness observing if you feel anything and then just letting it go.
If you feel any tension just send a breath to that part letting your left leg go into deep relaxation and leaving it to the earth.
Then coming to the whole of your pelvis and your buttocks filling this whole space up with the light of your mental awareness.
Then letting it go to be held by the earth beneath you deeply relaxed.
Coming down the whole of your right leg the whole of your right leg bringing awareness and attention and energy to your right leg.
Feeling that part of yourself and then letting it go deeply relaxed held by the earth.
Bringing your mental awareness to your right ankle filling the whole of your right ankle with your attention letting it go.
Then coming to awareness of the whole of your right foot then letting it go heavy to the earth deeply relaxed.
Then coming up the whole of your torso the whole of your front body filling it up with the light of your mental awareness and then just letting this go.
Bringing your attention to the whole of your back your lower back middle back upper back filling all parts of your back taking note if anything comes up and then just letting it go to the earth beneath you.
Feeling really held by the earth beneath you where your back is.
Then bringing your attention to both of your shoulders and then the whole of your neck taking note if you feel any tension here any sensation and then letting this all go.
Deeply relaxed.
Then coming down the whole of your left arm and the whole of your left hand.
Letting that go and then coming down the whole of your right arm the whole of your right hand.
Then leaving that to the earth.
Then coming up to the whole of your face your chin your jaw your cheeks your nose your ears your eyes your forehead the crown of your head the back of your head the whole of your head.
Anything that feels heavy in your head just letting that go to the earth beneath you.
Then the whole of your body deeply relaxed held by the earth.
Then bringing your awareness to your heart space where your left hand is.
Your left hand receiving loving heart energy and your right hand giving love energy back to your body.
Seeing yourself completely balanced.
Exhaling and exhaling receiving and giving and mentally just saying to yourself I am balanced.
I am peace.
I am calm.
My nervous system is completely calmed.
Give yourself gratitude for giving yourself the time and space to really surrender to the power of rest.
Meaning that this is a gentle yet powerful practice where it may not feel like you're moving at all but you've moved a lot of energy.
You've moved a lot of stagnant energy out in order to open to new life force energy and vitality.
Feel free to stay here for as long as feels good.
If you feel ready to close the practice just gently deepening your breath.
Gently reawakening your body.
You can wriggle your fingers and your toes.
You can stretch and yawn as if you're waking up in the morning.
When you're ready you can hug your knees into your chest and rock from side to side massaging your lower back.
When you're ready you can roll onto your left side into a fetal position.
Just take a few breaths here as you transition between lying down and getting up.
Only when you feel ready can gently lift yourself up ready to begin again.
