Okay,

Welcome back to Dropping In.

Second meditation today.

Just going to begin by settling back.

On a chair is okay,

But I would really recommend to join me on the floor if you can.

Cross legged.

And really finding some grounding here.

And just beginning to let it all go.

And beginning to notice the breath.

Breathing in deeply through the nostrils.

And exhaling through the mouth.

Just take a few breaths now.

Letting the breath gently guide your attention into the rhythm of the body.

Of you as you are right now.

Breathing in,

Observing the rising chest.

Tingling sensations of the nostrils.

And as you're exhaling,

Sinking a little lower.

In meditation we can find a beautiful center between relaxation and a kind of artful poise.

And however you're seated,

Just noticing that connection with the ground.

Running up from the base of the spine.

Past the belly.

To the upper back,

Through the shoulders,

The neck.

And feel the crown of your head.

Just gently lifted as if a string were pulling you into perfect poise.

And come back to the breath.

Breathing in.

Now you're breathing in.

Breathing out.

What's present for you now?

Are my words interrupting a thought?

Perhaps you're noticing the sensations of your body.

So often today we forget the body.

And so we may seek out meditation as a kind of remembering the body,

A remembering.

And we can begin rather than asking what is the quality of remembering the body.

Simply listen.

The more precise attention we pay,

The less we seem to be in control.

But rather listening.

Witnessing.

Working with the rhythm of the breath,

However it's arising.

And with the breath,

The gentle hum of the body.

The light tingling of circulation and sensation.

And with that rhythm,

We can find a connection.

Even with the space around us,

The air against our skin,

The ground.

We're just listening in on that conversation between the body and all that surrounds it.

Perhaps that conversation's very quiet.

You might have to sharpen your ear,

Sink a little deeper.

But of course,

The most foundational conversation our body has is the breath.

We breathe in the world.

Breathe in oxygen.

Breathe in possibility.

And we let it go.

There's something quite beautiful in that quiet conversation.

Always a give and take.

Always a movement of energy.

And as you witness these subtle rhythms,

Just allowing your ears.

To reach out beyond the boundaries of the body.

All of those subtle and not so subtle sounds.

A kind of field that surrounds us.

And in the deepest silence,

A quiet breath.

And as we draw this meditation to a close,

Close and close.

You need to do nothing at all but gently opening the eyes.

And connecting more deeply with the world around you.

As you proceed to the rest of your day.

Thank you.
