A peaceful way to wake up or a relaxing way to drift to sleep. Ujjayi Breath Technique is often called Ocean Breath because of the calming sound and feeling of the breath flowing through the throat. The gentle constriction helps to slow the exhale down while simultaneously creating the gentle sound of waves in the sea. Connecting with the sounds of nature that are within us helps to get back in touch with our self-as-nature. The sound of the ocean, a gentle breeze, the whisper of a seashell... Ujjayi also means "One Who Is Victorious". So,using the breath at the start of the day can help you feel balanced and steady in your power. Enjoy the sounds of your body - using the ocean as your Mantra. Nature Sounds Credit: Prem_Adhikary

Ujjayi breath,

Or ocean breath,

Is not only a fantastic way to slow the breathing pattern down and activate the parasympathetic nervous system it's also a wonderful way to focus the mind on a single sound the sound of the breath moving through the throat on the inhale and through the throat on the exhale to practice this ocean breath,

Simply constrict the throat about 30% so you start to hear the breath as it flows in and flows out imagine this breath like a wave of calm and clearing out as you focus exclusively on this breath simple,

Slow inhales long exhales,

Like a wave breaking on the seashore as you continue this Ujjayi breath cycle visualising that ocean the waves of the breath flowing in and cleaning out flowing in and clearing out flowing in and clearing out flowing in and clearing out allowing this breath to clear out any stress to clear any tension to clear any worries or cares flowing in and clearing out flowing in and clearing out continuing this exercise just with the sound of your own ocean breath one more ocean breath out and allowing this ocean to come to stillness the breath returns to its natural flow the surface of the ocean,

Still,

Calm and peaceful feeling clear,

Clear and spacious with a gentle smile taking this clarity with you into the rest of your day this practice is now complete
