The attitude of non-striving teaches you to navigate your life in the present moment.

When you hold an intrinsic interest and value in the now,

You become aware of how precious it is to simply be.

When you stop striving,

Life begins to work in a new way,

And you may find that those things you were striving for are already here.

There's an energy to the focus of the moment,

And a momentum to that energy.

So the present moment is very powerful,

And the best way to take care of the future is to take care of now.

So begin to explore and experience this attitude of non-striving.

Begin to embody it and become familiar with it,

So that you can take it into life with you.

Begin to get a really physical sense of what non-striving feels like.

Come into presence now with your full attention in this particular moment.

As you become present,

Thoughts naturally slow down.

You don't have to strive to control them.

Just settle in.

Just be who you are and where you are right now.

Focus on your natural flow of breath to bring you even more deeply into presence.

Not changing it in any way.

And for a while just be in the stillness.

Awaken alive just as you are,

Allowing everything to be as it is.

And be aware of any sense of striving in this moment.

Notice any contraction and holding in your body,

Maybe in your stomach or your shoulders,

And how that feels.

Do you have any sense of needing to drive yourself forward,

Or to get somewhere,

Or achieve something?

Is there any disquiet,

Or a feeling of needing to get things done?

Just reassure yourself that it's okay to feel that way without any judgment,

But observe that sense of striving.

Continue to relax and release the tension and the holding in your body.

So come into presence even more fully now.

Breathe deeply into your belly.

Feel the release as you let go on the exhale.

When you're fully present your mind is not in the future.

Life happens here and now.

Happiness is here and now.

In presence you can let go of ideas about how life should be,

And in doing so you can open up to a much greater possibility.

So allow yourself and all of your story and all of your life to just rest here.

Your stomach rising and falling.

Your chest rising and falling with no effort.

And you may get an awareness of peace,

Or you may not,

And that's okay.

Don't even strive for a feeling of peace.

Tune into yourself.

Be aware of any tiredness.

Be real about how you feel.

You don't need to be any different than you are right now.

Non-striving is about not being in conflict,

Not being in fear.

Don't be afraid to be in the same way that you are.

Don't be afraid to be in the same way that you are.

Non-striving is about not being in conflict with yourself and your life.

So not ignoring or pushing away emotion,

Not striving to change them,

But simply being aware of them.

But simply being aware of them.

And we often strive forward in life.

And we ignore those emotions that are pointing us in the right direction.

By attending to them you're able to change path,

To slow down,

To be real.

And this allows an honesty about how you feel and who you are.

When you stop striving there's room for life to open up in unexpected ways.

When you let go of controlling and planning,

The energy can move where it wants to move.

So not giving up or ignoring anything,

But just approaching life differently.

The attitude of non-striving is asking you to come into a sense of childlike innocence.

Bring a curiosity and an openness to the flow of the moment.

It's asking you to be more flexible and adaptable as you follow the flow.

So rest in awareness now,

With a kind of fluidity of attention.

Just be with and attend to whatever arises.

Just let your awareness drift and float.

In order to float on water it's necessary to stop striving or struggling,

Allowing the water to hold you and carry you.

So just taking notice of here and now and allowing life to flow,

Giving up that struggle.

Create your life in the present moment rather than striving to create the future.

Your natural state is at peace.

It's enchanted by this moment.

And as you stop striving,

Your true nature is revealed more and more.

If you push at life,

It will only push back harder.

As you allow life to be as it is,

And as you allow yourself to be as you are,

It begins to flow.

So stop striving to be anything you're not.

Allow yourself to be fully yourself.

It's what you're here to be.

Can you allow life to express through you as it wants to?

What's naturally part of you?

What wants to come through you?

What are your natural passions?

What are your talents and your joys?

What puts you in your heart?

Just breathe into that.

Breathe into your heart.

And when you're following your heart and when you're being fully yourself,

Things tend to work out.

There's an energy and a momentum to life.

There's a sense of ease when you're not trying to achieve anything.

When you're enjoying being yourself naturally,

Right here and now,

And that joy and that focus creates the momentum and life opens up to allow more of it.

When you strive,

You simply create more striving.

So for a moment longer,

Just rest here.

And connect to the power contained in the present moment.

Rest in everything you already are.

Continue to breathe into your heart.

And you can rest in everything you already are.

Continue to breathe into your heart.

And you may like to rest here for a while and allow your awareness to contemplate these ideas,

Not going into thought but allowing the insights and the knowings to come to you.

And perhaps making a commitment now to cultivate the attitude of non-striving in your life.

So you
