This is a short seated practice to bring you back to gratitude. Often, when we feel disconnected from others, it is because we have disconnected ourselves from gratitude. This meditation brings you back into a place of connection by focusing on your support network and all the ways you feel grateful for the people you love in life. Make yourself comfortable in a seated position, with the spine erect using any physical supports needed to maintain the posture in relative stillness.

Take a moment to saddle yourself in a comfortable seated position.

Take a deep breath in and a long breath out.

Open your shoulders and feel them melt down towards the ground.

Slow your breathing down.

Take one hand and place it gently on your heart.

Breathe into the space where hand meets heart.

As you breathe into this space,

Feel warmth and comfort.

This body is your home.

Feel your heart beating behind your hands.

Feel your breath moving around your heartbeat.

As you breathe,

Bring your attention to one thing you feel grateful for in this moment.

The people you love,

Your beating heart,

Your home.

Your being here alive in this moment.

Your support network.

The fact that you have eaten today.

Your world around you filled with nature,

Support and kindness.

Breathe in this sense of gratitude.

Now bring your awareness to the one person you feel most grateful for in this moment.

Imagine this person sitting in front of you now.

With eyes closed,

Visualize this person looking back at you with a gentle and relaxed smile.

This person is at peace.

As you inhale,

Breathe into your heart.

As you exhale,

Silently say to this person before you,

Thank you.

Inhale to your heart.

Exhale thank you.

Keep this going for a few moments.

With each exhale,

Feeling your gratitude travel from your heart to the person before you.

Inhale to your heart.

Exhale thank you.

Giving yourself full permission to feel and express emotion.

Now take a deep inhale and gently sigh to release.

Gently rest your hand down and bring the opposite hand to rest now on your heart.

Continue to breathe deeply.

And on your next exhale,

Gently release your awareness of this person sitting before you.

Now imagine that sitting before you was you,

Your very best self.

Take a moment to notice what you're doing here.

How are you holding yourself?

What's your facial expression?

As you breathe in,

Wrap your breath around your heart.

As you breathe out,

Say a silent thank you to your best self sitting before you.

Inhale to your heart.

Exhale thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Allowing any emotion that begins to arise as you continue to offer gratitude to your best self.

And now slowly begin to merge with your best self.

Performing them into this moment.

Continuing to thank them on every exhale.

Thanking yourself for your resilience,

Your strength,

Your compassion,

Your kindness,

Your ability to overcome every challenge life has set before you.

Your ability to be present,

Strong and truly alive.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Take a deeper inhale now and a long sigh to release this exercise.

Rest both hands down in a comfortable position and slowly bring your awareness back into the room that surrounds you.

Notice sounds both inside and outside the room.

Notice the lights behind your eyelids.

Notice your breath underneath each and every other experience.

When you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

Come back into the world and room around you.
