Welcome to this morning gratitude meditation.
As you settle into a comfortable position,
Allow yourself to fully arrive in this moment.
Whether you're sitting upright or lying down,
Just gently close your eyes if that feels comfortable and let's take a deep breath in through the nose and slowly breathe it out through the mouth.
This is your time to start fresh,
To pause before the day begins and to set a tone of gratitude and positivity.
Now bring your attention to your body.
Notice the points of contact with the surface beneath you and feel the weight of your body being fully supported,
Softening any areas of tension,
Relaxing your shoulders,
Unclenching your jaw and just letting your whole body soften.
Taking a deep breath in,
Fill your chest and your belly with air,
Holding for just a moment and then exhaling,
Releasing any lingering tension.
And then with each breath,
Imagine a sense of calm flowing through your body,
Relaxing you more and more.
Now,
Bring to mind one thing you are grateful for today.
It can be something small,
Like the warmth of your blankets and the quietness of the morning or simply the gift of a new day.
Whatever it is,
Just let it come to you naturally.
Now hold this thought gently in your mind,
Picturing it vividly with colours and sounds and allow yourself to feel the gratitude it brings.
Notice how this feeling expands in your heart,
Radiating warmth through your chest and your body.
If your mind begins to wander,
Just gently bring it back to this moment of gratitude.
There is no right or wrong way to feel,
Just allow yourself to be present with this sense of appreciation.
And from this place of gratitude,
I invite you to now plant a seed of intention for the day.
Reflect on how you want to approach this day.
Perhaps you want to embrace kindness,
Patience or courage.
Maybe it's simply about being present or finding small joys in small moments.
Silently repeat this intention to yourself.
Today I choose my intention to be.

And now just allow the words or the vision to settle into your mind,
Into your heart,
Giving them space to be guided throughout your day.
Today I choose.

As we near the end of this meditation,
I invite you to draw in a deep breath.
And as you take in that deep breath,
Take a moment to acknowledge the time that you've given to yourself.
And as you exhale,
Always take a time to pause and begin your day with mindfulness and gratitude.
Taking another last deep breath in and a long slow breath out.
Now,
When you feel ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers or your toes and take any movements that feel right and supportive to you.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes and bring your awareness back to this room.
And carry this sensation of calm,
Gratitude and intention with you as you move throughout your day.
