We often come to mindfulness practices to gain something,
To arrive at something,
To experience some truth,
The truth about ourselves.
However,
This truth or truths are often add-ons to and are ready,
Rather large,
Extensive repertoire or library of plugins,
Added features to the self that we call our truths through visual imagery perhaps,
Excursions in nature,
Encounters with gurus.
We have certain sensations,
Certain experiences,
And we label these as truths.
And yet the way to the truth of the self is through the untruth,
Not by adding on another dimension of identification,
But rather by going underneath all the layers of false identifications.
The way to the truth of the self is through the untruth.
Find a comfortable seat.
We'll begin by chanting Aum three times.
Exhale all the air out.
Inhale a breath.
Make any final adjustments to your seat.
Feeling your sit bones descending down from the pelvis,
The energy of the legs spreading out,
Groin softening.
And already just to the broadening,
The spreading of your seat,
Your foundation.
Something of the self releasing.
In experiencing the expanding sense of support.
Something of the self something of the self easing up.
Allow your attention to become sensitive.
To the movement of the breath in and out of the nostrils.
The sensitivity that also expands,
Spreadsl with each breath.
With each breath.
Offering another dimension For the self to ease into.
Relaxing to.
Allow yourself to become curious.
To where your attention happens to be.
This moment.
Not trying to change the direction of where your attention is.
With an earnest curiosity.
Seeing where your attention is drawn.
And along with it.
Considering.
What perhaps you're hoping for.
Through this time on your meditation seat.
From where your mind finds itself currently.
From what your present may feeling.
To what you hope to feel.
Hope to understand.
Hope to be free of.
Hope to distance yourself from.
Hope to experience.
See how much of a distance there is.
Between where your attention is now.
What your experience of yourself is now.
How wide.
How deep.
How tall is that gap.
As well as observing any measure.
Of trying to turn away from.
Look away.
Run from.
Where you find yourself right now.
See if you can allow your consciousness.
To plunge.
All the way down.
To the basic wound.
The cut.
The origin of.
I am.
The ego.
The thought.
Or rather,
The bundle of thoughts.
That make up the I am.
The complex configuration.
I am this body.
I am this gender.
I am this ethnicity.
I am this nationality.
I am the sexual orientation.
I am this profession.
I am this personality.
I am my thoughts.
I am my emotions.
See how this bundle of energy.
Is showing up in your body.
How it is expressing itself.
How it is expressing itself.
How the bundle of I am thoughts are making themselves known.
Asserting themselves.
Keep allowing your attention to plunge ever more deeply.
Noticing along the way.
Every instance of wanting to pull away.
Distract yourself.
From that trap door.
That we have avoided at all costs.
Continue to allow.
That bundle of energy.
Of all layers of identification.
As you continue to dive deeper.
From the center of the flame.
From the very pit of the fire.
Keep plunging your awareness deeper.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
In the absence of language.
In the absence of words.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
And remaining curious as to what reveals itself.
Keeping the eyes closed,
Gently tilt the head towards the heart.
Bowing down.
Towards the center of your being.
Lean back slightly,
Extend the legs out.
Lie down on your back.
Spread the arms open,
Palms face up.
Take in the feedback that you're receiving from the body.
From each cell in your body.
From the inherent intelligence emanating from the body.
Or rather your being making itself known.
In the fabric of the body.
Bend one leg then the other.
Folding the arms to the torso.
Roll to your right side,
Pause there.
When you're ready come to sit up.
Allow the palms to join.
Exhale all the air out.
Inhale a breath.
Om.
Namaste.
