Today's meditation is about softening,
Letting go just a little bit,
Loosening our grip,
Being.
For it is in this space where all the magic happens,
Where life unfolds,
Not according to how we thought we'd get there,
But how we were supposed to.
And that space,
Often even more beautiful than we could have ever imagined.
Allow your body to come to a comfortable position,
Resting yet centered,
Calm.
Allow your eyes to close as we go on a little bit of a journey inward.
Feeling the sweet,
Sweet breath as it enters your nose,
Letting just a few out through your mouth.
Letting the worries of the day wash away.
Vowing to yourself to be completely here in this moment,
And the next one,
And the next one.
Exploring your surroundings now just for a moment with your senses.
Introducing a beginner's mind,
Curiously wondering about sounds,
Smells,
And other senses.
Drawing your awareness now inward and letting it settle on your breath.
Letting your breath be the anchor for the remainder of this meditation.
When you find yourself lost,
Lost in a thought,
Lost in nothingness,
Invite yourself back to this breath.
The inhale,
The exhale.
What do you notice about this breath?
Where are you holding on tight,
In your body,
In your heart?
Doing a gentle scan from head to toe and back again,
And see where you might be gripping.
Holding your body,
Restricting,
Even starting with the breath.
Noticing its shape,
Its depth,
Its broadness.
As you breathe in and out.
Are you holding your stomach in?
Where can you let go just a little bit?
Maybe it's in your jaw,
In your face.
Maybe you're just holding tension that you no longer need right now.
As you breathe in and out.
Taking just a moment to breathe in gratitude for the life that you have.
Every part of it,
Even though some of it might not make sense.
You are breathing.
You are alive.
You are enough.
Where in your life are you holding on just a little too tight?
Where are you forcing?
Where needs room to breathe?
Coming back to your breath.
And using this breath to breathe space into your life.
Breathing in and out.
And again,
In and out.
Realizing that when we create just the tiniest bit of breathing space,
It allows for clarity,
It allows for creativity,
It allows for your heart to answer.
Breathing in and out.
Where in your life are you moving too fast?
Where you should be standing still?
Where can you be a little kinder and gentler to yourself?
Where can you take a step back from the fire and take a broader look at what's in front of you?
Where are you feeling resistance or that something just isn't quite right?
Creating breathing space now as you breathe in and out.
And again,
In and out.
Where can you let go of what you thought to be true and allow for just a moment a new truth to enter?
Something greater than you ever thought possible,
Just beyond your realm of knowledge and understanding.
This is softening,
Creating space,
Creating breathing room.
For those moments when you start to feel frustrated and angry,
Annoyed,
Resentful,
Fearful even,
Take a breath,
Create space,
Tune into your body as you breathe in and out.
Even asking yourself,
Where can I soften?
Where can I loosen my grip just a little bit?
Where am I holding on too tight?
Trusting that when we make space and let go,
Even just a little,
A new path will present itself and often one way more beautiful than we could have ever expected.
As you breathe in and out.
Asking yourself again,
Where can I soften?
Where can I allow space?
Where can I take a step back and see the bigger picture?
Where do I need to take a breath?
As this short meditation comes to an almost completion,
Bringing your awareness now to your breath for just a final moment.
The inhale,
The exhale and every pause in between.
Noticing that little space where you're not rushing to gulp in another breath.
That's the breathing room.
Breathing in and out.
Bringing some awareness now back into your body and know that you can take this question with you throughout your day when you feel frustration,
Where you feel like you're clinging.
Where you need space.
Even when you don't think you need space.
Invite in a breath and ask yourself,
Where can I soften?
Where can I allow?
How much more can I let go?
