Hello and welcome to your meditation.
Just take a moment now to get settled and centred.
Taking a few relaxing breaths.
Scan through your body,
Releasing any tension that you might have in your muscles.
Then just take a quick scan of your thoughts and see if there's anything pulling you in any direction.
Pulling you into the future or back into the past.
Bring your mind into the present moment and let your eyes gently close.
There's nowhere else you need to be right now.
Just letting your breath come in and out naturally.
I want you to bring into your mind your mobile phone,
Your device.
Just picture your mobile phone right now in your mind.
See if you can picture the shape,
The colour,
The weight of the phone.
How you hold the phone and use the phone with your fingers and your hand.
Even where you place the phone in your pocket or around your house,
If it has a specific place.
Try not to overthink or get too involved,
You're just making observations.
Then start to think about opening up the phone and how you commonly use your phone every day.
The ways in which you use your phone.
Do you check email,
Check the news,
Do you have certain apps that you open all the time?
How do you connect with people?
Think of all the other uses you have for your phone.
There are many ways in which the phone is used in our daily lives now that enrich our lives.
They might save us time,
They might bring us closer to others that are far away.
They might give us greater connection with people that we care about or with other communities.
They may make our lives easier.
There are many many benefits to having your phone.
It's important to acknowledge and thank the circumstances of your life that allow you to have this device in your life.
See if you can bring a sense of gratitude towards this device and the opportunities that have brought you this device into your life.
Then cast your mind back to the device and maybe consider all the times where it has somehow disconnected you from others.
See if there are ways in which the device has somehow got between you and another person and disconnected your opportunity to connect.
Whether that be a spouse,
A loved one,
A friend,
A colleague,
Even a stranger in a public place.
How many times have you missed out on an opportunity to really connect through sight,
Through touch,
Through conversation?
Notice if there's any feeling that arises in your body when you think of this.
Whether there's a feeling of sadness or guilt or perhaps nothing.
Notice if there's any reaction inside your body when you consider this.
If you can find these moments in time where you've lost connection,
Lost opportunities,
If you do find areas in your body that are responding with emotion or feeling,
Try to move yourself to that place,
Move your awareness into that feeling inside your body and move your awareness into that moment that has been lost.
Just bring some acknowledgement.
You can even say,
I acknowledge this moment,
I acknowledge this feeling and awareness and understanding.
We're really looking to just bring that acknowledgement and that awareness deep inside ourselves.
You can,
If you wish,
Bring a hand onto your heart,
Taking some natural inhale and exhale breaths.
Really bring clearly into your mind that moment or those moments you've missed.
Really bring into your body and your mind the feeling,
If any,
That you have.
Become aware of what the feeling is,
How it feels and just stand in that moment.
Get right there in that feeling and acknowledge,
Acknowledge and be aware.
Just going to let go of that feeling,
Let go of the breath,
Let your hand drop,
Bringing yourself fully into the present moment,
Taking a deep inhale and an exhale,
Lengthening your spine,
Finding gentle movement in your body.
Thank you.
