Breathe & Receive Meditation
This meditation gives you instant connection with yourself.
Transcript
Hello and welcome to your Breathe and Receive meditation practice.
This is a special time for you to connect within to yourself.
So I invite you to make a comfortable space,
Shut the doors,
Turn off your phone and get ready for a journey to connect with yourself.
So sitting or lying or even standing,
However feels most comfortable to you.
I invite you to notice the little person,
The little you that lives up inside your head,
Often thinking,
Dreaming,
Wishing,
Wanting,
Searching,
Looking for solutions,
Looking for answers,
Wondering how all of the pieces fit together.
You may have lists,
You may have boxes,
You may be surrounded by so many things overwhelming you right now,
So many things drawing your attention away from this present moment.
So I invite you to step back,
That little you in your head can pull up a big beautiful golden cushion right in the middle of your head.
Step back from the forefront,
Step back from the viewing platform or the conscious mind,
Which is often like a control tower where we're looking out,
Looking out,
Looking out constantly trying to organise and control what's going on in our lives and our environment.
Step back from that place,
Get away from the desk,
From the control panel.
Move back to the space right in the middle of your head where the light is,
Not too far back so that you go into the darky shadowy unconscious mind and you slip off to sleep,
But right in the middle.
And sit down on your beautiful big golden cushion as if it's just a little you and the cushion is much bigger than you.
So you're completely held,
You're able to completely relax.
We want to bring attention to your senses first of all because there you are like a little one with big eyes of wonder and you're noticing,
You can feel,
You can hear,
You can see,
You can sense,
You can smell,
You can taste,
You can touch.
You get a feeling from the heart,
You get a gut feeling and you get your bodily senses of knowing.
All of these you have in this little you on the cushion.
But right now there's nothing for you to do except lie back,
Open your mouth,
Take a deep breath in like a sigh,
Soften the jaw and the face and the teeth and the cheekbones,
Soften the sides of your head,
The front of your head that does all of the thinking,
The back of your head,
Soften the spine and the neck,
Soften the shoulders.
Allow your throat to completely soften as if you were a brand new baby all over again.
And allow the breath to gently come in,
Stroke and gently caress the inside of your breathing tubes,
Your breathing passages.
Feel the tender caress of that breath as it comes in through your soft,
Open,
Relaxed mouth.
Almost like a wave of gentleness brushing up against your senses,
Brushing up against your lips.
You can feel it all around your sinuses and inside your head almost as it comes in,
Up into that space where the little you is sitting on the cushion.
Feel it like a breath of fresh air coming in to relax and soften you.
Just like when you're in the office and you open the doors and you open the windows and you let the breeze in and for a moment you just stop and you refresh your space.
Everything else can wait.
Notice the gentleness of this breath,
Inviting you to pay attention to it,
Inviting you to receive the gifts that your breath brings you.
Soften even more,
Relaxing the jaw even more.
You don't have to force anything.
This is not about controlling your breath or doing a breathing exercise.
You're not trying to induce a state.
You're not trying to visualise.
What you're doing is dropping everything.
Stop trying and drop in to what's already magnificently happening for you.
Ah,
Soften the chest.
We're going to allow this little you on the cushion to go on a journey down through the core of your being so that you can meet yourself in all your different layers and levels of being.
If you're ready for that,
Feel yourself surrendering on your cushion and with the next wave of your breath coming in,
Feel it gently lifting you,
The same way the wave lifts you when you're on a tiny boat on the ocean,
Gently lifting you up as if to say I've got you,
I'm holding you.
You can let go and then when the breath goes out naturally without force,
You gently sink down following the direction of the breath as it releases you a little bit down through the centre of your mind,
Dropping gently behind the senses,
Behind your eyes,
Your nose and your mouth.
And watch like a little child would watch.
You're being taken on a journey.
You're passive.
You're innocent.
There's nothing for you to do.
And let the next wave of your breath come in,
Gently lifting you again and dropping you down through the throat.
And allow this to happen in your own time where each wave of your breath gently lifts you,
Catches you again,
Invites you to surrender that bit more as it releases you,
Drops you down,
Down through the base of the throat,
Down towards the upper chest area of your body.
And I invite you to take your hands and bring them to that part of your body so that you could follow your journey down through your body.
Connect to yourself,
To your feelings and to the sensations with your own physical touch.
You know the way you reach out to somebody to hold them,
Someone you love like a child or a friend or even an animal that you deeply care for and you express your love through your touch.
It's as if you're saying,
I'm here.
I've got you.
I feel you.
I love you.
And I invite you to bring that same sense of giving and loving back to yourself to complete the cycle of giving and receiving.
Breathe your own touch in,
Receive your loving connection.
Stay on the cushion.
Feel this lifeline.
It hasn't let you go ever.
This lifeline of your breath,
This lifeline that life throws you day in,
Day out,
Moment by moment.
And in fact every single moment of your life so far,
It has been with you.
It has been there for you like a pillar of strength,
Like a hand of the Divine,
Your lifeline.
Since the very first moment you were born,
It has been with you like a presence.
Can you feel the power of that subtle,
Gentle presence?
It has never let you down.
It has never let you go.
And yet so often we are the ones who let it go.
We forget it.
We disengage.
We disconnect.
We forget.
We wander off and we get lost.
Come back.
Come back to the presence and the force of life that animates you,
Holds you in this existence right now.
Feel the direction of this breath.
Feel that it's being offered to you.
It comes to meet you.
You don't need to reach for it.
You don't have to be good to get it.
You don't have to pay.
You don't have to pray.
You don't have to do anything.
It's unconditional,
This breath.
There is no judgement whatsoever.
It's free.
It's given freely to you,
For you to freely receive.
Notice how that feels.
Is there anything else in your life that does that for you?
Take it with both hands as you feel it in your chest.
As you soften so much,
Like a hungry little bird opening,
Softening the throat,
Relax your head back if it feels comfortable and relaxing to do so,
So that you can let go even more to become a receiver.
Totally open,
Totally surrendered so that we can go deeper.
Feel the breath going down the direction of within you.
Sinking down into your heart centre.
Making space for your breath to come in and expand that beautiful space open.
You might have your heart closed in one way or another.
There might be pockets or areas,
Rooms in your heart where the doors are closed or where there are walls or blocks.
And as you sit there on your golden cushion,
Notice what it looks like.
Notice how it feels.
Notice if you'd be willing to let your breath come in like the ocean,
Like a cleanser to refresh the space of your heart.
To pour into every nook and cranny,
To pour into every corner and stretch even that little bit further as you allow your body and your heart space to be expanded gently,
Tenderly,
Without force,
Yielding to receive more of your breath,
Your Holy Spirit that you are.
How does it feel to let go to your own spirit?
This breath is you.
This breath is your spirit.
It's not here for anybody else but you.
It has your name on it.
It has your name written all over you,
Encoded within every molecule of that energy is you,
Your spirit,
Dying to come in and meet you,
For the doors to be opened,
For your spirit to be received into your heart and into your body,
To be earthed so that you're connected.
With your hands on your heart,
Breathe that in and feel.
How does it feel in your body to be given to so beautifully?
Would you receive unconditionally in the same way that you're being given to unconditionally?
And let go.
Feel the weight of the breath drawing you deeper now.
Feel it still has a heaviness,
A direction,
Has purpose.
We can go deeper.
So allow your hands to move and allow the next breath in through your soft baby open mouth down like a waterfall through your throat,
Through your chest,
Down into the diaphragm area of your body,
The stomach or the solar plexus.
We hold a lot of tension,
Anxiety,
Fear,
Resistance in this part of our body.
Notice how it feels for you.
Is it tight?
Are you willing to let this breath wash over all of those areas that need meeting,
That need blessing,
That need the touch of the divine and submit?
Give up struggling.
Give up trying.
Let this part of your body be cleansed and washed with each graceful breath that comes.
And on the release,
Allow yourself to be relieved.
Allow your mouth to be as soft as a baby and your throat to be passive and gentle as that breath exhales and leaves you and cleanses away what you no longer need all by itself.
You don't need to push or pull or blow away or blow out.
Leave that up.
Let it go.
Let it go.
Let the breath take care of it.
Let this life that has been on this planet for billions and billions of years,
Breathing life force into everything,
Let it be in charge.
Give it back the control so that you can let go and be released.
How would that feel in the solar plexus?
Let your hands connect and feel yourself.
And take the next wave on your cushion and drop down into the soft belly area of your body.
Bring your hands there.
Let this space expand open.
Let this space be like the basin of a waterfall that is deep,
Cavernous,
Echoey.
Many things in those depths,
Many experiences,
Many emotions,
Memories of being a child maybe,
Memories of being in your womb,
In your mother's womb.
Completely surrender.
Notice what it looks like in there sitting on your cushion.
Notice that you can breathe under this water.
Notice that it's being done for you just like it was when you were in your mother's womb.
The lifeline was there,
Breathing you.
It's your second nature.
You can totally let go and allow yourself to sink down deeper and deeper,
Being carried with each gentle in wave and out wave.
Feeling the weight of your breath going down,
Down,
Down to that space between your hips.
Deep inside of you,
The sacral,
The basin of your pelvis.
Can you allow your breath to come that deep and meet you,
Touching you gently inside in places that nothing else reaches.
No other person can meet you in this space.
It's your sacred space.
It's just for you.
You're the only one that can experience this feeling right now of being inside yourself.
Feeling your breath pouring down like a waterfall gently tumbling down inside of you all the way down to the very bottom of you.
Bathing you,
Cleansing you,
Washing you in that stream of consciousness.
Stay awake,
Take it in,
Breathe in,
Allow everything else to be given up.
If you have any debris,
Unwanted things,
Maybe you've been dumped on,
Maybe you have pain,
Maybe you have memories in there or emotions in there that you just feel don't rightfully belong to you or you're not comfortable with them being inside of you anymore.
Right down here in the hidden depths.
Let your breath come in like the helping hand of love to go right to the heart of those things and you let go and let your breath take it from you.
Let it be the ocean cleansing your shores.
Let it be your lifeline guiding you back to the truth.
Give up struggling.
Feel the weight of your body now.
Feel all of your focus and your consciousness down in the base centre.
Right down where your bottom is,
Your perineum.
Right down to the place where you're sitting.
Ever so gently letting your cushion land in the deepest part of your body and let your awareness expand out around you.
What does it feel like being in this dense,
Heavy,
Physical body?
Let every particle become very,
Very heavy.
Notice all the tiny billions of little particles somehow magically glued together by life,
By your spirit,
By your breath.
When this breath finally leaves you and takes you to another place and this body is cast away and given back to the earth,
Every particle will no longer,
Not any longer be living.
And yet now with this breath,
Yet now in this moment,
Your spirit holds every single one of those particles together in the perfect form for you,
In the most perfect vessel possible.
Your unique identity as your spirit in form.
It's your birthday suit so that you can have a living experience in this material world and move around.
Allow your breath to enter every single particle of your body.
Relax back,
Soften the spine and let your breath move freely,
Kissing every atom,
Kissing every cell into life.
Allowing every cell to come alive for the light to switch on,
For any blocked or closed places to spring open like a baby fern in the spring or to burst open like a buttercup on a summer morning.
Let yourself be bathed in the lightness and the love of your breath like sunbathing on a hot sunny beach,
Basking in this breath.
Feel how your body receives that.
Notice how it feels to drop in this deep,
Noticing yourself on a cellular level.
How does it feel to be in this body?
Can you claim this body?
Can you recognise that it too holds you unconditionally?
That too supports you every single day of your life without fail.
It never ever abandons you.
It hasn't abandoned you yet.
It's not time.
It's time for you to be here,
Fully incarnated,
Fully in your earthly body.
Let your breath and your body rejoice at the meeting.
Notice that they have a relationship of unconditional love where the breath gives and the body receives and the body gives back and the breath releases.
And then the breath comes again,
Delivering you once more into this moment.
Feel the beautiful coming and going,
The beautiful movement of this dance between your spirit and your body.
Can you surrender to the breath and the body so deeply that you are moved like the trees in the wind or the long grass in the field as the breath washes over you in that sweet rhythm?
Bring your hands to yourself.
Connect with this in a tangible way.
Something very real and very profound is happening constantly for you.
Notice it.
Grab hold of it.
Connect all of your senses,
Tasting,
Sensing,
Smelling,
Absorbing the feelings,
Allowing realisations to occur in your own beautiful way.
Look.
A child of both spirit and earth,
You are.
Born of matter and of spirit,
Two completely opposing forces,
Existing in the same space at the same time and somehow creating you,
Right now.
There's a purpose behind that.
There's a great reason why spirit and earth have gone to so much trouble to create you.
Millions of years in the making,
Millions of years of designing,
Trying again,
Redesigning.
And here you are,
Perfect.
Take that in.
Draw that into every cell of your being with an in-breath and relax on your out-breath.
Surrender to your knowing of what is.
And I'd like you to say out loud at this point to yourself in your own language,
In whatever words you were taught as a child.
And say this out loud.
Hello me.
And breathe those words back in like a sweet fragrance in the air that you want to ingest and take in deeply to savour and understand something.
Hello me.
Use your touch,
Use your hands to connect to wherever feels good as you honour and acknowledge yourself.
Say this out loud.
Hello spirit that I am.
Hello body of me.
Hello life.
Thank you.
Thank you for being here right now.
Holding me in form.
Holding me in this present moment right now so that I exist.
Thank you breath.
Thank you body.
Take it in.
Let the words tumble in like water,
Finding their way in to water the roots and germinate hidden seeds deep in the soil of you.
And say this again.
Thank you me.
Thank you me for being here.
Thank you me for coming to this earth,
To this body,
To this life right now.
Take those words in like a medicine.
Let them soothe any parts of you that need that medicine of recognition.
Thank you me.
Take it in deeply.
And say well done me.
With your hands to your heart or your tummy or wrapped around you in an embrace of unconditional love.
Say well done me.
Despite everything you did it.
You're here.
Well done.
Allow any emotions that arise to be cleansed and released on your breath.
Keep the energy moving.
Stay in connection with your lifeline.
And then let's say one more thing.
Out loud.
I love you me.
I love you me.
And don't leave the words hanging as if you don't know what to do with them.
As if they're foreign or unwanted.
Take them in.
Let them go through the mind down through the throat down through the upper chest down into the heart trickling like honey down into the tummy deeper down into the sacral until they go all the way down to the little you on the cushion right in the very base of you.
And let those words I love you me spill into every atom of your being.
Receive the way a humble sunflower drinks in and receives the light of the sun through her petaled face all senses wide open down through the stalk and the stem of the plant into every leaf deep down into the roots.
Let every single part of you be nourished by the golden love of those words.
I love you me.
Breathe and receive the love that you are right now.
And say thank you me.
Receive your love.
Receive your words.
Thank you me.
Well done me.
And then say please come home me right now to the absolute truth that I am.
Breathe and receive and say thank you.
Take all of that in.
Notice how it feels to be connected deep down connected to you.
And you can let the weight of that breath and your consciousness travel even deeper if you like down through your base centre down deep down into the earth.
Know that you belong that you're being rooted and anchored here for a reason and you're invited to stay here.
You're invited to stay connected in your body on this earth of you by this lifeline of your spirit.
See if you can practice this.
Practice remembering that you need to breathe and receive in order to be alive in order to be present.
Give yourself a squeeze and a hug.
Bless yourself.
Honor yourself.
And come back to this as often as you need to support yourself in all your transitions and transformations to support your journey through your life.
I love you.
Thank you for being here.
Take care.
