Making sure that the space around you is still and conducive to coming back to this awareness that is meditation.

Very often as we come back to this point of stillness within we notice that there is resistance or very often also the resistance is manifest in a form of attachment to certain situations or habits.

And it's just so very easy to fall into this experience of resistance and attachment.

Sometimes the resistance and attachment can be challenging and play out in different ways,

Especially in the way that the mind perceives or functions within an experience,

Especially in the way that one explores one's relationship or communication within the experience that is resistance or attachment.

And many people then ask what is the way to transform or transcend beyond such limited experience because of course that is what resistance and attachment is all about.

It's a limitation or a moving away from the fullness of an experience.

And one of the things that is very useful to remember in meditational practice is that judging or judgment creates an atmosphere that is not only undesirable but also creates this idea that one has to struggle to get rid of something.

Sometimes we don't even know what we have to get rid of but it is just that experience whereby we are struggling and we just don't want to be in that space anymore,

In that space of struggle which very often is leading or part of the experience of resistance and attachment.

So rather than judge or rather than get caught in the habitual experience of wanting to get rid of something or fight it or push it aside or not want it or don't like it,

Rather than creating these very limited reactions,

They are human reactions but very limited in their wisdom and rather than doing this it could be useful at times to just relax and gently open to a state of acceptance.

Of course I know this is easier said than done but with the intention to relax and open and accept whatever it is that is flowing through you,

This leads to a natural awareness,

To a state of mind that is more open.

So rather than being tight and entrenched or holding on,

Stressed or anxious about the situation,

You begin to relax and relaxation is so very important when it comes to not only letting go of judgement but also to ask yourself the questions,

The wise questions such as what is the purpose in resisting and attaching to this situation right now,

In this moment is there a purpose?

So you bring your awareness to this present moment and you begin to look for wisdom rather than reactive states of mind or reactive states of feeling.

So sometimes you recognise that this story that is creating resistance or attachment is a reoccurring one or a pattern that you've recognised many many times or a situation,

A habit that keeps coming up and there is a thread of understanding whereby you recognise that in certain situations you keep doing the same thing,

Meaning that you move around a certain core aspect of yourself without really relaxing and moving deeper into the state where awareness recognises what is happening in that flow rather than just resisting that flow.

So as you come back to this state of awareness and find wisdom,

It doesn't mean that you will just all of a sudden magically change and the noise in the background in your mind or the resistance that is there in your body will just sort of miraculously disappear.

What happens is that you begin to accept,

You create a state of acceptance whereby the flow just naturally comes back to the awareness of itself.

So this means that if you're uncomfortable or feeling something that makes you uncomfortable or thinking about something that makes you uncomfortable,

It won't just shift but you will rather move into a state of awareness where you will give awareness a voice to speak through you and through your experience from this state of wisdom,

From this state of awareness.

So rather than trying to tell yourself to do something,

You're actually asking yourself an interesting question rather than trying to tell yourself you have to do it this way or you have to fight or you have to resist,

You will ask yourself a wise question.

What do I need to hear in this moment?

What is it that keeps repeating itself so many times that maybe I need to open my eyes to look at the situation from a different perspective and see what is being manifest in my experience?

Of course you have to do this in a loving and kind way because sometimes what you are looking at or what you're beginning to recognize is a vulnerable part of yourself that needs more nurturing,

That needs more attention.

Very often just this aspect of yourself that is not being nurtured or not given the attention is creating another scenario.

So very often we get upset but we're not really upset at the situation.

We're just reacting with upsetness and that situation gets in the way and creates the upsetness.

So what we're really upset about is very often not what we're communicating or thinking about or resisting or attaching ourselves to but rather a deeper aspect of the experience.

So when you recognize this as you allow this voice of awareness to come back to a commitment to listen and to find wisdom rather than to just waste energy in the state of resistance or attachment or reaction,

Then you have already begun to choose to focus your energy and your attention in a certain way.

You're giving your heart the space to move from beyond the conceptual thinking mind state that very often is part of resistance and attachment to coming back to,

Yes,

Vulnerability,

Yes,

A state of perhaps not feeling comfortable within the communication that's coming up to the surface but you are allowing for an energetic expansion rather than an energetic contraction.

You're allowing for the energetic expansion to happen within your heart.

So what you're doing is exploring this state of expansion.

Resistance and attachment,

Stress,

Anxiety,

Habits very often lead to contraction.

This is why it is so important to relax into the present moment.

It's so important to let go of judgment.

It's so important to stop struggling and trying to get rid of something but rather allow yourself to come back to a heartfelt space that is aware,

That is loving,

That is kind,

That begins to notice that wherever you focus,

You also attract energy.

And this sounds very simple but actually when recognized in our behavior or in the ways that we think or the ways that we communicate to people around us or even within ourselves,

When this is recognized there is sort of wisdom that speaks very powerfully within the heart because we recognize what we are doing.

We become aware of this moment and what we are doing within this moment,

How we are manifesting our energy within this moment.

And there is nothing wrong with looking at painful emotions but most of us resist and attach to certain mind states and emotional states and cultural,

Social states that no longer allow for a state of awareness of the energy that is transforming within this experience.

So we resist and pull away and try to get rid of the painful emotions or the blocks or the stress or whatever it is which creates a tension,

A building up of tension that doesn't allow for the heart to come back to the state of wisdom that I am sharing with you right now and this state of wisdom is just to open the energy pathways so that the flow allows you to move deeper,

So that you are not contracting the heart,

You are not falling into a negative pattern but rather you are gently directing your awareness to the very center where contraction happens,

To the very point which resists,

To the very point that is attached to the situation that wants to then get rid of the situation.

You are gently guiding your heart,

Directing your awareness to this very core center.

That is communicating the contraction,

That is communicating the resistance.

When you begin to open up in this way you sometimes unearth a memory or a feeling or even a belief or a state of mind or a state of thinking that holds the pattern together.

So you begin to sort of gently unravel the mystery of why you are resisting,

Why you are attached to the situation,

Why you are contracting and wanting to get rid of the pain or the suffering.

But it is so easy when you put this into practice because it is just something that flows,

It is not something that you have to push yourself to do.

When you begin to unearth the mystery,

That feeling or that memory or that belief system or that social cultural pattern that is holding the negative resistance or negative attachment or the negative point of view that the mind is so busily giving your energy to,

Then you begin to flow within your meditation and the flow happens more smoothly.

Even if you are dealing with exceptionally painful or exceptionally difficult deep seated contractions,

You are now able to infuse your being with awareness.

You are now coming back to an inherent wholeness,

To a completeness that doesn't try to find a shortcut.

You are actually being,

Recognizing that which you are,

That which you are communicating in this moment.

And even though you have set aside your thoughts and whatever energy that is part of resistance or attachment,

Even though you have set those aside,

You come back to the gentle awareness that you no longer need to contract your energy.

You can shift your attention to wholeness.

And sometimes this happens without even the need to think about doing this.

It just happens because as you unravel the space,

As you unravel the space that is leading to resistance and attachment,

That is feeding the resistance and attachment,

As you unravel this mystery,

You naturally come back to a wholeness,

To a completeness.

Your relationship to wholeness and completeness opens up.

You open up rather than contract.

You relax into this moment and you experience a calmness.

You experience that relaxed flow of energy in your body.

You even experience within the pain,

Within the suffering,

Within looking at the situation,

A deeply loving feeling that emanates from within your heart,

That allows for an expansiveness of space,

That allows for a lightness around you,

Within you,

That allows you to recognize that you are unique and that this experience that you are now bringing to this moment,

This wholeness,

This completeness,

Is not only happening within your feelings or within your thoughts,

But is spreading and penetrating into every cell,

Infusing every organ in your body with this pureness of being that allows you to release the contraction,

To let go,

To dissolve into this beautiful moment and to be present.

As you breathe in and breathe out,

Recognizing that this is what you are doing now,

Energetically within your body.

Deep breath.

Letting go.

Letting go into wholeness.

Letting go into completeness.

Allowing for your attention,

For your awareness to just come back to this beautiful space,

This heartfelt space,

Whereby there is no need to let go of anything.

You are just coming back to an awareness whereby you are being real.

You don't need to struggle with letting go of this or that.

The space,

The flow allows this to happen.

As you relax your energy,

As you relax your body,

As you come back to this calmness,

This stillness,

There is no space to hold on to the pattern.

You are just allowing yourself to come back to the message that your heart is communicating to you,

Is sharing with you in this moment.

You are allowing for the flow of energy to just naturally expand into this lightness that transcends the resistance,

Transcends the attachment.

So as you breathe in and breathe out,

Focus on the expansion.

As you breathe in,

You are expanding into this moment,

You are connecting to the depth of this moment.

As you breathe out,

Just letting go into a state of relaxation,

Into a state of well-being.

Allow for your attention,

For your awareness to stay within this calmness,

To stay within this stillness as you dissolve into being,

Breathing in and breathing out.

Deep breath.

Deep breath.

Deep breath as you let go.

You may wish to spend a few moments just embracing being present to this stillness,

To this calmness as you breathe in and breathe out,

Relaxing,

Letting go.

Deep breath.
