Welcome to being human,
My sweet angry soul.
Anger is a justified emotion due to real or perceived injustice in the world.
And it provokes an urge to defend ourselves.
Anger often gets a very bad rap.
You need anger management,
You need to somehow lock it down.
But at its purest fiery point,
It is a redemptive quality that seeks goodness and restores justice and equilibrium.
It also is wise and you have to respect the power of fire and that it is fiery.
And that we can also easily burn ourselves and others if we are not careful.
Begin to settle into the body and start to become aware of where you notice anger in the body.
Where is anger manifesting?
Apparently my dog needed to scratch and show me where he was manifesting his anger.
So there you go.
Hope you have a sense of yours too.
So I'd like us to first imagine that sensation just to really tune in.
Where is anger in my body?
There's no right or wrong.
Perhaps it's a fiery sense in your chest or gut or head,
Throat,
Or head,
Feet,
Doesn't matter.
What's right is whatever your body shows you.
So see if you can be present with that sensation.
And then I also at the same time want you to begin to become aware in your left palm.
You may have it resting face up on your lap,
Maybe even holding it in front of you.
But with your palm up and open in your left hand,
Begin to imagine a ball of fire.
A ball of fire that is forming and fueling and refining that powerful fiery energy.
Imagine perhaps even channeling those sensations in the body down through the arm out into the powerful fiery ball of energy that is gathering.
Perhaps notice if it wants to shift size at all or how contained it wants to be.
Again,
There's no right or wrong.
But just in particular becoming aware that you are the one that gets to control how hot that fire burns and how destructive it is and what direction it goes.
So imagining this fire and over time imagining what it might be like to shrink it down into a smaller maybe embers or a spark or what if it becomes a giant wildfire.
What shifts when that is the case?
And then also become aware that you're the one observing all of this and aware that you have an ability to tame your fire.
You hold the power in your hand and in your heart and mind and body and soul when you pause and check in and breathe.
So we can respond instead of react.
Oh,
It feels so good to react.
But dang it,
This pause is so important.
Because once we're out of this headspace of anger,
We feel the damage that's been done.
And while we're in it,
We don't quite frankly really care if we're completely flooded and heated.
You know,
We're just wanting to get out of that situation.
It is so important that you took this time to sit with anger and to allow it to be present here.
And more than anything to justify and validate the fact that you have every right to be angry.
You deserve to be angry.
It is justified to feel how you feel.
And perhaps you're listening to this because you've noticed that just responding and reacting to anger doesn't always turn out so well in this social,
Relational world that we live in.
I love you.
I believe in you.
You got this.
I get feisty,
Fiery,
Angry as hell too.
And yet,
I'm working on this right alongside you.
How can we slow down?
How can we be mindful about how we can actually use this fire to fuel us and to feel change in the world instead of burn it down?
May your light transform the world and everybody around you exponentially.
Namaste.
