Welcome,

Dear soul,

To Nervous System Regulation number 11,

Inner Child Safety.

This meditation is designed to support inner child healing through safety rather than re-experiencing.

By meeting your younger parts with your presence,

Steadiness and reassurance,

The nervous system learns that it no longer needs to stay on high alert to be protected.

Now get comfortable in your position for this meditation,

A position where your body can feel fully supported,

Either lying down or seated.

If you haven't already,

Let your eyes close softly,

Or lower your gaze.

Take a slow breath in through the nose,

And a gentle breath out through the mouth,

Again breathing in through the nose,

And breathing out,

Letting go.

One more breath in through the nose,

And as you exhale,

Releasing the past.

Before we bring attention to anything from the past,

We begin here,

In the body,

In the present moment,

Where safety can be felt now.

Notice the surface beneath you,

The way it holds your weight.

Notice gravity is doing the work,

So you have nothing to do.

This is important,

Because regulation begins with support,

Not memory.

Breathe in,

And breathing out.

Now bring your awareness to your body as it is today.

The adult body you live in now.

The one that has survived.

The one that has adapted,

Learned,

And grown.

Feel its steadiness,

Its size,

Its capacity.

Silently say inwardly,

I am here now.

That's right,

You are here now.

Let that land gently in your body.

From this grounded place,

Imagine becoming aware of a younger part of you.

You don't need to see anything clearly.

You don't need to relive anything.

Just a sense.

A sense of younger you,

Who once learned to stay alert,

Just to feel safe.

Notice that this younger part is not alone now.

You are here with them.

And more importantly,

Your body is regulated enough to offer something different.

Breath in,

And a breath out.

Imagine yourself sitting beside this younger part.

Not above,

Not fixing,

Not analyzing,

Just being present.

You might notice how their body feels,

Tight,

Watchful,

Perhaps uncertain.

You don't need to change it.

Your calm presence is already the repair.

Silently,

Inwardly,

Let this message arise.

Not spoken loudly,

But felt in the body.

You do not have to stay on guard anymore.

Let the nervous system hear that.

You don't have to stay on guard anymore.

That's right,

You don't have to stay on guard anymore.

Let the nervous system hear it,

Slowly,

Gently,

Without any urgency.

Notice how the younger parts don't respond to logic.

They respond to tone,

Rhythm,

And safety.

So stay steady,

Stay calm.

Your regulated body is the reassurance.

Breathing in,

And breathing out.

If you notice a motion,

Allow it to move at its own pace.

You don't need to open anything up,

Or relive anything.

Healing happens,

And it happens when the nervous system feels safe enough to soften naturally.

Now imagine offering this younger part a sense of protection.

Not through words,

But through presence.

Like placing a warm blanket around them on a cold night.

Or sitting close enough that they don't feel alone anymore.

Say silently,

Or in a whisper,

I am here,

You are safe with me.

That's right,

You are here,

And you are safe.

Let that be absorbed.

Notice any shift,

Even a small one,

A breath deepening,

A muscle easing,

A sense of relief within.

These subtle changes matter,

They are how the nervous system re-learns trust.

Now gently allow the younger part to rest with you.

Not pushed away,

Not analysed,

Integrated,

Their vigilance no longer has to lead.

Your adult nervous system is now capable.

And you silently say in words,

I can protect myself without staying tense.

That's right,

You can protect yourself without staying tense.

Let that land deep in your body.

Rest here for a few breaths,

Feeling the steadiness of the present moment,

The support beneath you,

The calm strength in your body,

Nothing to resolve,

Nothing to revisit,

Just integration.

And when you're ready,

Begin to return your awareness to the room,

Noticing the sounds around you,

The surface beneath you,

Perhaps bring small movements into the toes and fingers,

Opening the eyes softly when it feels right.

Carry this sense of internal safety with you,

Knowing that regulation is not vigilance,

It is now what keeps you safe.

If you want to go deeper with inner child work,

Please note that I also have a series of specific inner child meditations.

Blessings on your journey,

Namaste.
